Physical appearance ~ : If you could get Bastian to stick around you long enough for you to actually get a decent look at him, you’d find a man that’s blonde, blue eyed, fit, and pretty average on the whole. Nothing major stands out about him -- it’s obvious he isn’t rich, but he’s not dying on the streets either. He’s got the physique of a man who actively works out and keeps himself in top shape. He tries to eat right, keeps a strict work-out schedule, and is incredibly active -- and that much is obvious. He’s very lean, and built so that when he does put on muscle like that, it isn’t bulky or broad, but rather the sort of body a runner or sprinter would have. He’s tall and, were he the kind not to work out, he’d probably be really oddly skinny due to his metabolism and habits. Unfortunately he isn’t always afforded the opportunity to eat very well, as munny gained from slaying minor Heartless can only go so far. He walks with the certain ease of a man who is confident enough in himself and his abilities, but is at the same time is also sort of on guard and watchful; he’s spent his whole life attempting to return his honor and despite the fact he’s been traveling now for quite a few years, he still hasn’t entirely gotten used to the notion that not everyone is out to get him.
What’s weird about Bastian, though, is that he is literally always moving in some way. Some would call it the jitters, or nervous twitches, but he’s always tapping on something, tossing magical energy between his hands, or something along those lines. Honestly doesn’t think he’s ever stopped moving, except for when he needs to observe someone and remain inconspicuous. His mannerisms all display a sort of impatience, from the foot-tapping all the way down to his facial expressions. When he smiles for real, it tends to be sort of small, kind of withdrawn a little bit; it isn’t often he’ll show anyone a real smile but his comrade. He’s sneaky when he has to be, and luckily for him he floats around fast enough that even if he weren’t, no one would see.
Clothing/Accessories ~ : Unlike some of the other adventurers he's encountered in his travels, Bastian really doesn't stand out too much. He doesn't wear incredibly flashy armor, nor does he wear a panda suit, or anything like that. Rather, he wears a thin layer of armor beneath a silver, tattered cloak, along with black pants and light shoes that are just right for dodging an enemy's attacks. But perhaps the most noticeable feature on his body are the mystic symbols that exist in various areas. The only ones that can be seen most of the time run down both of his arms, stopping at the tips of his fingers. When fighting, these begin to faintly glow, showing that he means business.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Alignment ~ : Neutral.
Behavior ~ : When one meets Bastian he can be a bit intimidating. First of all, he rarely cracks a smile, his face straight, his tone direct and without much emotion. In truth Bastian doesn't show emotion because he feels it makes him weak. He hides much of what he is feeling, not comfortable with talking about things that are personal and the business of no one but himself. Secondly, he can seem quite pessimistic. He doesn't seem to hope for much, always speaking in a realistic manner, taking things not so much as in stride as with a grain of salt. Bastian is the type of guy that must see something in order to believe it. He doesn't like to think of himself as being overly analytical about things, but he does take his time in making decisions, never one to do anything rash or without due cause. Bastian is slow and steady, making his move when the moment is right and he's sure the plan can be executed without much failure. It's what makes him a valuable asset to those he works with. He doesn't give up halfway through, and he's loyal to those he considers friends and comrades. Because Bastian doesn't open up to anyone it's hard to say who is a friend and who is merely someone he'll align himself with just to get any given task accomplished. Only a rare few have seen him let down his guard, and even then there wasn't much to see. Bastian has learned how to keep a great many things secret from even Dayu. However, because he does consider himself a decent friend at times, one can be sure that Bastian will come to the aide of his friends and comrades, even killing should the need call for it.
Along with his serious appearance comes a rather sarcastic frame of mind. He can joke around with a straight face, putting people off as they try to decide whether or not he's being serious. Lying is made easier by this, as he can tell the most outrageous fib without so much as batting an eyelash. It comes in handy when he's on unfamiliar worlds, keeping him one step ahead of whatever forces may be pursuing him. To strangers he appears to be nothing more than a brooder, a man who keeps to himself and doesn't like to be bothered. Bastian rather likes this as it allows him to observe people, and get a good grasp on his surroundings without anyone giving him a second look. There are times when he likes to be alone, for the quiet gives him a peace of mind, but for the most part Bastian would rather be around other people, listening to them talk, occasionally speaking up and adding to the conversation. For the most part he is an observer; listening without a word, mulling things over, gives his piece when need be, and generally acting indifferent to it all. He doesn't go out of his way to pick a fight with another person, as he sees fighting as menial, and more work than he's willing to put into things. That doesn't mean he will back down when someone presses his buttons; Bastian has been known to use his martial arts as a device to show others that there is always more to him than meets the eye. He always points out to be people that leaving him alone is their best option because he's not in the mood to screw around, which he really isn't.
Being as cautious as he is one wouldn't think him likely to have a temper, but Bastian does. He's simply better than most at keeping his temper in check, and it's only when all other options have dried up that he will lose his cool and fight back. He doesn't like to let things get to him, though it will be clear when the point of no return is being crossed. Whenever his temper is getting the better of him, he’ll often begin to glow faintly, a sign that he’s tapping into the magic within him. Also, his words, by this point, tend to be dripping with venom, showing that he's filled with loathing. He doesn't raise his voice, nor has he ever really done so- no, when Bastian is angry he lowers his voice to a sharp hiss, getting into the face of the other person before backing off with a given threat. For the most part Bastian likes to remain calm, and to do so he often stays as far away from trouble as possible. Unfortunately with nothing better to do he will resort to hunting heartless, losing his inhibitions and hurting the few that are close to him. Bastian has trouble keeping relationships with anyone, really, longer than a day or two- he doesn't want to get too comfortable, only to have them turn on him, or just leave him altogether.
Unfortunately one of Bastian's biggest problems has been the fact that he can't quite let go of the past properly. While he doesn't like to admit that he's a brooding type of guy, there are times when he really does just that; when alone his mind always seems to wander back to things that he can never change, playing them over and over again rather than letting it go and moving on. He takes offence to comments about his family and heritage, even if he doesn't talk about either very much. Bastian has been working towards regaining lost honor even though his need for secrecy has made that harder to do. He has a carefully crafted plan hiding in the back of his mind, and one day he might actually put it into action. Thus far the reason Bastian hadn't already done so was because he felt that he had no right to return honor to his family after years of being told he was nothing more than a disgrace to them. Oh, pride in being a powerful magician cannot simply erase the scars of not being able to live up to the expectations his father put on him so long ago, and it's a large part of why Bastian is trying his best to live up to the expectations brought forth by being an adventurer.
Primary Weapon(s)
ID: Azaria.
Quality: Fine.
When passive; meaning, obviously, that it's not being used to cast spells, Azaria looks like a simple walking stick, for a man that, although not as old as some may expect, has problems with his legs. However, this is an act, simply to trick his foes into underestimating him. But when the need arises, it sheds the illusion, revealing it's true form of a great staff, capable of manipulating the magic that exists within him. The staff itself doesn't look particularly menacing, as it's nothing more than a black pole, although once Bastian begins attacking, symbols that match those on his body begin appearing on the staff, altering it's appearance and making it that much more menacing. Although it is mainly used for fighting from afar, Bastian can also use it efficiently as an offensive weapon, be it to block an opponent's attack, or to just smack them around a bit..x. magic burst
Another thing that makes the staff special is that it can fire little blasts of magical energy, three at a time, at one foe, or even at separate ones. These blasts only move up to five feet around him, but can be incredibly useful when facing multiple foes at once.
Strength:
Weak.
Uses:
Unlimited number of times, with a two post cooldown.
Secondary Weapon(s)
ID: None.
Items
1. Twin Stars
An attack item that shoots two star-shaped projectiles out from the user at high speed. These stars home in on an enemy target from two different directions and are very difficult to fully avoid. They break into nothing and deal heavy physical damage upon contact with anything. Rivals the strength of a moderate ability. Up to 5 uses per purchase, but can not be used in more than one thread.
2.
Equips
1. Fairy Dust
The power of flight. You can travel at up to 60 MPH in any direction if you have a straight path to build up speed for a while(You can not go 0-60 in one post or while making a lot of turns) or you can just hover in the air. Stopping and turning are easy at low speed but become less at higher ones, just like they are while running on the ground. Once initiated it lasts up to 5 posts and can not be used for an equal number of your posts as it was used after it ends. Does not technically end until the time limit is up or the user willingly lands on the ground.
2. Ragnarok
Seven non-elemental lasers the size of baseballs are launched at an opponent and home in on that target with great turning ability, making them very difficult to completely dodge without a strong-level boost to speed and/or reflexes. Three uses per battle and only lasts 1 post. Ragnarok's damage is equivalent to a Moderate ability.
3. Fire II
Allows the user to surround themselves with a perimeter of furiously orbiting flames. Deals weak fire-elemental magic damage to anyone horizontal to the user within two meters of them. 10 uses per battle. Lasts one post.
4. Blizzard II
Allows the user to shoot a head-sized spiky ice crystal at high speed with slight homing ability. Very difficult to dodge at medium range. Shatters upon contact and deals weak ice-elemental magic damage. 10 uses per battle.
5. Thunder II
Allows the user to shoot a thin white bolt of lightning down onto a target from above in a flash. Almost impossible to dodge if the target wasn't already moving when this spell was cast. Erupts outward by one meter in all directions into a shower of sparks upon contact and deals weak thunder-elemental magic damage. 10 uses per battle.
6. Reflect
When activated magic abilities targeted against the user are reflected back at the opponent with equal speed and strength. Does not affect ordinary physical or weapon attacks (Magical weapon attacks will still be affected). The user can not move when activated. Three uses per battle, lasts 1 post.
Alvera; an ancient kingdom nestled behind a shield of mountains, protected by the wasteland that was the rest of the world. One would think that said wasteland was the result of some kind of war, but that isn't the case. Rather, the people of Alvera have had no desire to venture out of the safety of their homeland. The reason why is simple. Fiends. Thousands of them, running across the barren landscape, soaring through the air, or surging through the water. One couldn't even risk taking more than five steps outside of the kingdom, or else they would run the risk of being devoured. Quickly and painfully. Thus, for as long as anyone could tell, even with the assistance of the many history scrolls, humanity had remained within the confines of Alvera, never questioning why they didn't fight off the fiends, never dreaming of stepping outside.
One night, just as the sun was finally deciding to hide behind the distant hills, a young boy was born. A young boy who, according to the doctor wasn't normal. No, he had something strange confined within his body, something that could, if let out, cause untold destruction. But despite this fact, his parents still wanted to keep him in their arms, to love him no matter how dangerous he may be. For eight years he lived in peace, never knowing of the power he possessed, never wondering why his parents kept such a close eye on him, even when he was doing the simplest of activities. But little did any of them know, there was another force watching them.
That force was the king, a man that everyone in Alvera adored. However, no matter how much everyone loved him, he wasn't quite as great as they thought. Rather, he was afraid of this power he sensed within the boy, afraid that, if left unchecked, the power could be enough to take over the kingdom. But he had another thought. What if he could tap into this power? If he could, perhaps they would be powerful enough to wipe out the fiends once and for all. Thus, ignoring the advice from the doctor who had birthed Sebastian, he went through with his plan, taking the boy in the middle of the night and relocating him to a factory thousands of feet beneath the ground. It was there than Sebastian spent the next four years of his life. Twelve years of being poked and prodded as the scientists attempted to figure out what would release all that strength.
Finally, they found it. In a flash of light, the power within him, which happened to be the power to harness the great magical energies out there, burst forth, destroying not only the facility, but the kingdom, and the entire world, knocking Sebastian himself unconscious and wiping his memory as well. But a subconscious desire to stop himself from hurting anyone else caused a variety of mystical symbols to appear on his body, acting as inhibitors. These inhibitors would stop him from ever using enough magic to do so much harm to anyone else. But it didn't appear as though he would even get the chance to know this. He was trapped in the cold, ruthless vacuum of space, and he was dying. Luckily, at the last moment, a Gummi Ship passed by, driven by the Moogle Engineer, Dayu.
Rescuing the floating mage, he suggested that perhaps the best course of action would be to find another magician, perhaps one that could help him understand just who he was, and just why he had been floating in space. That choice brought them to a city known as Twilight Town, to visit a tower that existed out of the way, hidden from the innocent civilians. There, they entered to find that it was abandoned, the owner off doing... whatever wizard-like tasks he was doing. There, Bastian (as he now called himself, a name derived from half of a locket around his neck) found an ancient book, one that told the reader how to access the power of magic, and how to use it effectively to defend oneself.
The chance to defend himself came rather quickly, as a small army of Heartless attacked, only to be defeated by the pair. Realizing that it was no longer safe for them to remain here, they left, not entirely sure where they would find themselves next.
