"Is it really your heart that you wish to gain, Xemnas?" Mickey questioned after letting loose the Pearl. The orb moved forward and hit Xemnas' barrier, getting bounced back towards the King. Mickey however had not stood idly while the Superior defended. He had hopped back up and replicated the same move as before, but this time aiming it off to far from Nobody's left side. This second Pearl bullet flew out just as the first was sent back.
Mickey questioned the supposed purpose of Organization XIII while facing their leader. If the heart would cause him to be returned to the balance of light and darkness that he so looked down upon, then why seek it? There was more brewing than even his own comrades knew of, it seemed.
It was after deflecting the first pearl that Xemnas cast his Invitation to Nothingness upon Mickey. The King only knew that these crystals surrounding him were bad news and so dived forward to escape if possible, heading directly for his own reflected attack. He spun in the air and hit the orb like a baseball player, knocking the energy back in the way of its original target. As he did so the second pearl was curving its path as it flew off to the Nobody's left, automatically homing in on Xemnas and moving to plow through his side.

A line of six energy beams appeared in front of Xemnas three aiming for the orb coming towards his left while the other beams targeted the other. They quickly fired themselves at the orbs destroying them upon impact. Mickey had tried to avoid his invitation by diving forward but one of the crystals had moved in his way tapping him on the end of his foot. The spell was initiated.
Xemnas looked at Mickey with his empty yellow eyes. He knew not of his purpose. He had spent so much ridding himself of his heart, for what reason would he want it back? The heart he only desired was Kingdom Hearts. A heart that he would soon have, containing ultimate knowledge and power.
"My heart is Kingdom Hearts." he replied before taking the offensive and rushing over towards Mickey in a sleek sliding motion. With both aerial blades in his possession he went in for a quick jab with one of them and raised his other sword up over his head.

"Kingdom Hearts belongs to everyone!" the King responded. As he moved in to engage the Nobody he felt a strange sensation. The Invitation to Nothingness had zapped him with a strange power, and while he felt no pain it was like his inner strength had been struck directly, lessening how much time he could fight for. Even Mickey Mouse would be in danger if this kept up.
Mickey couldn't deal with that and the incoming Xemnas at the same time so he decided to do what he knew he could handle. As the Superior attacked with his blades the King left the ground again and, with his Keyblade out, spun around above the jab with his body horizontal, aiming his own jab at Xemnas' head. His free hand was glowing white, letting loose another Pearl upwards in the direction of the other blade.
"Everyone who has a heart!"

He expected a response like that from Mickey, but why should Kingdom Hearts be reserved for those who have hearts? What about those who no longer have a heart? Were they meant to just wander into oblivion? Xemnas didn't believe this to be his or any other Nobodies destiny. He would make a Kingdom Hearts for himself one heart at a time. And not even the wielders of the Keyblade would stop him.
As the king hopped into the air avoiding his blade Xemnas swung his aerial blade upwards hitting the king across his body while leaning backwards to avoid the Keyblade. With his other blade Xemnas swung it downwards at an slanted angle to not only knock away the energy ball but also hit the king across the head as well. The blade had enough of a reach to hit his right square in the back of his head as the king was being smacked into the air by his other weapon. Xemnas then slid backwards and got in a upright standing position as the king fell to the ground. The force from his second swing should have been enough to knock the mouse out. But perhaps he had enough endurance to keep going.

It wasn't unexpected that Xemnas now underestimated what Mickey could do in the air. After all, the mouse had hardly showed the Nobody anything yet.
Slam!
The rising aerial blade hit not Mickey's soft belly, but a surprisingly sturdy white glove. The King's spinning ended there with a start, his head and feet pointing the Superior's right and left respectively and his black eyes staring right back at the cloaked one's yellow orbs. The King's right hand did indeed jab the Keyblade forward, but much like Xemnas himself his weapon attacks weren't so rigidly unchangeable. The lower aerial blade carried the mouse up, burning into his left hand but being denied the chance to cause decisive damage; besides the small area it now touched, the Superior altering from a jab into an upwards incline robbed the swing of much of the potential force that a full rising slash could have had. mickey too swapped out his jabbing motion in mid-execution but not to attack. As the Darkside whipped into an upwards arc to pull it back the Pearl slowed down Xemnas' slash from the impact just enough to get the Keyblade in under the path it was heading.
Smash!
Mickey bore the burden of the Keyblade with his right arm as he was now effectively pinned in the air between two swords of pure energy and that was exactly where he wanted to be, for Mickey took that moment to explode.
Performing a gyroscopic spin with the Darkside that repelled both blades with surprising force in an instant, Mickey followed immediately with using the momentum from that very movement to throw his legendary weapon straight into Xemnas' torso at point blank range like a skewer, the mouse himself flying backwards as a result and back-flipping through the air. He felt another shock come from the mysterious attack of Xemnas' in the meantime but there was still little to be done about that even as he would land.
In the meantime, Pearl had been knocked away but not destroyed. The thick light comprising the spell was not so easily vanished by a single blow and looped around the Superior's back at a running pace, aiming to slam into this black coat as the Nobody dealt with the frontal assault.

So the mouse had managed to thwart his attack. No big deal really, the spell that Xemnas had left on Mickey would make up for that for each time it shocked him the damage would be twice as hard. He suspected that the next shock would definetly wake the king up in a manner of speaking. The internal damage was what Xemnas really wanted out of this, to show the king how weak his heart was.
Xemnas stood still as the Keyblade came spinning towards him but was not concerned at the least nor was he concerned with the Pearl either. two lines of energy beams formed in front of and behind the Superior the instant Mickey had parried his attack and were each precisely aimed to counter his attack. The ones on the front were angled forward to shoot the Keyblade before it could touch Xemnas while the ones in the back were targeting the Pearl.
And as soon as they had formed they quickly fired at their designated targets. The beams in the back shot at the Pearl destroying it while the ones at the front simply shot it enough to where it stopped where it was going and fell down to the ground. Lucky for Mickey he was able to just summon it back to his hand, otherwise Xemnas would have just made him walk over there and try to snatch it back up leaving him open for attack.
Xemnas took this moment to have a quick chat with the king over his last comment. Waving his arms around and dragging the ends of his sentences, Xemnas addressed to the king. "You say Kingdom Hearts belongs to those who have a heart. But what of those who have no heart? Do we not deserve a Kingdom Hearts of our own? And what of those whose hearts are in darkness? Do they not have a place in Kingdom Hearts?"
Strong questions they were, ones that Xemnas had once asked himself a long time ago. Let see if the king had the same answer as he did. Especially since he didn't have a heart at the time.

Mickey mouse gave no reply to Xemnas' follow-up questions. At least not right away. After landing last turn Mickey had closed his eyes and remained still, as if meditating hard on something. indeed, the reason he had retreated instead of pressing the attack in close range where he was most dangerous was simply to buy a few precious seconds so he could try and find the means to repel this curse eating away at his life. No matter how he moved or attacked nothing had seemed to disturb the crystals at all, so he now focused inward on his heart and light to try and fight off the intangible force. The King readied himself of the next shock as he tried to steel his heart.
Yet none came. To say His majesty was surprised would be quite correct. Though focusing Mickey hadn't actually felt anything change, yet here he was untouched. Even the forces of nothingness that had previously surrounded him were gone.
Had the spell simply run out of its time limit? If so the King had wasted a valuable attack opportunity. If not then he wasn't sure what to think. All he knew was to make sure he never got caught by that mysterious power again, lest this miraculous escape not occur twice in a row before it was too late.

Xemnas had given Mickey the opportunity to dispel his attack but not without a cause. Although the king had gotten rid of his spell he was still oblivious as to how he did it. This was good to know since the next time around Mickey would most likely expect the spell to end at a certain time again only to find out he was wrong. But the Superior had another reason for giving him the time to dispel his Invitation to Nothingness. He needed information from the King.
While Mickey was standing there in his own little world concentrating on his next move, Xemnas took this opportunity of vulnerability to take the offensive and trap the king for a while. Just long enough before he no longer needed him. A dozen beams of energy instantly formed around the king the minute the spell had been dispersed circling around his neck area just inches away from him all pointed directly at his head. Since he hadn’t summoned his Keyblade the king didn’t have the chance for a quick counter, not that it would have helped. Hopefully if he was smart he wouldn’t try to do that now unless he wanted to have twelve beams of energy hit his head in a row resulting in brain damage. If Mickey tried any funny moves Xemnas would quickly fire the beams of energy at him with no concern of the outcome whatsoever.
This was to get his attention and to show that he wasn’t playing around anymore. Also he wanted to have a little chat with the king without having to continue swinging weapons around all day. Now this was quite an unorthodox manner of talking but Xemnas didn’t have the heart to trust his enemy. Well he actually didn’t have… well you get the idea.
The Superior stared at Mickey with an expressionless face. “Why should Kingdom Hearts be reserved for only your kind?”

"Don't you have it backwards, Xehanort?"
If King Mickey found the Superior's "trap" intimidating he certainly didn't show it. The mouse stared back across the road towards his opponent with the same confidence he'd used to jump into this dark world in the first place.
"Your Organization XIII; some of them may truly desire a heart and all that comes with it, but how many simply wish to exist at any cost? Do you really want Kingdom Hearts, or deep down do you want the power of Kingdom Hearts?"
The heart was more than existence. More than power. More than memories or emotions or anything else one could try to sum it up with. But, above all else, Kingdom Hearts wasn't a prize to be won or owned... secured or reserved. Mickey's left and right hands rose to his chest and lay there side by side in fists as the Darkside Keyblade remained stationary on the ground.
"Someone who wishes for a true heart ought to seek one the way it would want to be found. Maybe then Kingdom Hearts would grant their wish."
Unknown to even His Majesty despite those words and somewhere back in Hollow Bastion, or perhaps fled away into the darkness by now, was a fiery redhead Nobody that would be deemed by his kind as desperate and delusional... yet by honest friendship he had been allowed to feel closer to his heart than any of his former comrades. It was a shame they could never see it as anything but the Flurry of Dancing Flames fooling himself.

We who were forced to exist in Nothingness, abandoned by light and darkness have no other choice but to create a Kingdom Hearts of our own, one where our kind can have a chance to exist.”
His Majesty definitely didn’t let anything get past him. He was as wise as he ever was just like he was back when Xemnas was still a human. But he was in no position to be asking those types of questions to Xemnas.
And may I ask, how does it want to be found?"
His former acquaintance seemed to be asking a few questions of his own. Some that Xemnas believed were best left for another day. He could not or would not understand his intentions for Kingdom Hearts. He believed that Xemnas was unable to understand the heart. The Superior however, did not feel the same way. He knew what the heart was and the mysteries behind it all. Hearts were the source of all power. So in a way he was after Kingdom Hearts for its power.
Now Mickey had moved his arms up to his chest which didn't indicate any hostile movements, but if he was going to try to pull a fast one Xemnas would as they say, shoot first then ask question later.

"I'm sorry Xemnas," the King answered promptly, his eyes focusing their little dot pupils squarely into him. "But though no one can completely understand the heart..."
What is a heart? What is its true purpose? Where do hearts come from? How do they do their work? Maybe truly satisfying answers to all of these could never be found, but Mickey still knew at least one thing for certain. Kingdom Hearts was the heart of all worlds... the heart of all people. Many people, but all with one heart. One great destiny... overcoming even darkness' power to keep people from hearing and following their hearts. If a heart for one without their own was to be found then there was only one place.
In a feeling that Xemnas would later claim he no longer remembered.
"... if you can't even see that then you don't know anything about them at all!"
Light flared from Miceky's hands as two Pearls appeared as his head ducked inward towards their center. Since each one was easily the size of Mickey's entire head the place of their creation not only protected him from the too-close-for-comfort beam blasts bust also destroyed them all upon contact almost as soon as they were made as they moved quickly out to circle around him in a tight orbit.

[I'm gonna go ahead and let that move slide even though I could have easily got Mickey, so be thankful I'm nice today.]
While his daring move was impressive to say the least, the king would find himself staring down at yet another row of beams forming instantly surrounding his lower body right where his head was at near enough for the king to feel the heat emitting from the beam right on his neck. With his arms being raised over his head now and the king in a crouched down position it was quite an uncomfortable position to be in but Xemnas cared nothing about how the king must have been feeling.
How could someone like him understand the heart? And how could he go and say that Xemnas knew nothing of the heart? This mouse was obviously only fooling himself and limiting his knowledge of the hearts, then blaming his own ignorance to say that Xemnas didn't know anything just like him. What a fool the king was, he was just like Ansem restricting himself and never going beyond the limits to find the true understanding of the hearts. But that was their loss, they could stick with that false belief that the hearts were beyond understanding. As far as Xemnas knew nothing was beyond his understanding.
But now he had gotten most of his questions answered. Mickey no longer had anything else useful to the Superior. So now he would test out his strength against a wielder of the Keyblade, but first he needed to say one more thing before the fight could continue.
"You may choose to never understand the heart, but don't try and limit me because to your own ignorance."
And with that Xemnas fired the shots at the king, not even looking away as each one was fired. Should the king survive the onslaught was a matter of how strong his endurance was. Being a Keyblade master it was very much possible.
