Yeah so I have a college interview sometime between 5:30 and 6:00 tonight. So even though I don't get much time on computer the way it is, I'll have even less. Especially considering the fact that I have stuff to do before the guy shows up.
I won't be on at all tonight, in fact after this message is posted I'll probably be off within the next five minutes. I probably won't be on tomorrow or the day after either. Depends on how the interview goes, and whether or not I decide to kick my butt into gear and actually try doing homework the day I get it, instead of doing it the period before it's due. I don't do that too much, but I do. I just usually do it the morning it's due, or in homeroom.
Bah I'm rambling.
Wish me luck? And tips, cause I'll probably check this via psp a few times.

So I've been accepted into DeVry in Kansas City, Missouri. I start next July. Unfortunately I can't apply for financial aid and that until next January because of taxes. I'm trying to decide whether I go through and get an Associates Degree in WGD (web graphics design), which is the basis for the Bachelor's MDD (multimedia development design or something like that), and then getting a job with the WGD. If I do that then I'd go back afterwards and get the MDD, which my employers would pay for if I pass the class.
OR
I can skip the WGD, and go straight for the MDD. The WGD is only a basis for the MDD, and I don't really need the WGD in order to get through the MDD just fine. If I do option one (WGD then MDD later), I make about 49,000 a year starting out (at least that's what the projection for the WGD is supposed to be. The program is new, which is why they only have projections. If I get the MDD, the projection is about 60,000 a year starting out if I remember right.
Anyone have any ideas as to what I should do? I'm already considering just skipping the WGD and going for the MDD because there isn't a whole lot that I'd need from that program that I won't learn from the MDD.
Oh and after a few semesters at DeVry, I can get an internship at a place that deals with the program I'm in. ^.^

If you feel like you're a good student and won't mess up with your grades, go for the Bachelors.
You MUST be told sooner or later, for your own good, that Associate Degrees are basically useless now. They have as much weight...as a High School Diploma, and might be close to a GED now. Why? Because the specialization is being taken away. The edge many Universities had here in the US is disappearing while the more prestigious schools are getting more expensive and harder to get into, and make it out of. Reasons are many fold.
If you get the Bachelors, and take it seriously, you have weight to your degree and more future employers will hold you to the next level. Plus you get more pay.
Despite projections, you will still make more over time with a BS. No matter what the true figures are.
DeVry deserves a bit more respect in the fields they're good in, they get their students jobs. It's just the type of people they get.
BTW, accreditation also matters with these degrees: certain things will be seen as industry required, others not even paid heed to. Just depends.

DeVry is accredited! But for everything else I agree. Just wanted to see what other people think.

Right, DeVry is accredited, that's what they should tell you. They say that on their commercial as well as a big selling point (but all respectable institutions need to say that to be taken seriously).
I figure DeVry finds you the job, so they'll know they're accredited, so what do I know beyond this? xD

Wilhelm knows his stuff.
Associates are, as said, useless. If you want any merit, you have to attain a Bachelors.
I do implore you, however, not to skip WGD. You can screw yourself over quite easily if you overestimate your capabilities and tell yourself that you can skip classes that are there for a reason. That is, of course, assuming the class is not a class for the computer illiterate (unless you need a class which teaches you how to point-and-click, in which case take it!).
If you can accept that you'll be a few steps behind and have faith in your work ethic, then by all means, skip WGD.
Just understand that this isn't high school anymore. You're putting a lot of money and your transcript on the line, so you should put a bit more thought into this, surely. Like a lot of 'specialized' colleges, DeVry has a bad reputation for being over-priced among other things, so please do Google that and take notes as to allow yourself to make the best decision.
Not that I or anyone else has as good a picture of the situation as you do, so my gloom and doom may be all for naught.
As for financial aid, yeah, that source has been tapped already. For that type of thing, you pretty much want your form in the mail day one, so that you can get as much money as possible.
Keep us posted about your decision.
