Semcora is derived from the ancient phrase "Para ser sem um coração"-- to be without a heart. Not a heart in the physical sense..for there is a muscle that pumps in her body somewhere. It's different for each Semcora. The basics of this race is that they can effectively be called heartless.
At birth, each of them are basically blank slates. They have no loves, nor hates. They have no favorites. Right and wrong is blurred together, and they are comfortable with either. The same can be said for good and evil. As they go along in life, every experience impacts them to grow in the emotional "heart" area, both good and bad. As they do grow, the more complete their heart becomes, the more complete a design on the left rib becomes. The design is a stylized hand-like shape, coming from the way Semcora's grab the spot when it grows. One digit is imprinted at a time, starting with the thumb, ending with the pinky. The palm is the finishing touch, and often the biggest event in the life that forms it. Bad experiences leave a black, jagged style or design, while good experiences leave a white, more gentle and rounded style. The two can be mixed, though in the Semcora culture, pure designs of either are highly desired, even though Semcoras with all white markings may hate those with all black ones, and vice versa.
The Semcora race appearance wise is not that much different from average humans. They are perfectly humanoid, though generally long legged and tall, with thin frames. Their ears are slightly pointed and curve forward. The eyes are generally of any color, flat and piercing with no reflective qualities (matte, if you will) until their hearts are fully formed. The skin is always pale, though there is a iridescent blue hue that runs from the back of the skull down the spine, where it flares out about the rear. Hair can be any color under the sun, though lighter hues are viewed as most beautiful by the completed Semcoras.
Semcoras age in normal human time unless their hearts aren't completed by age 20. If it isn't formed by then, their age is frozen at twenty until the requirement is met, then the aging process resumes as normal. While this can grant a form of immortality (though they can be killed by fatal wound and such), it is not something any healthy minded, normal Semcora would want. Being incomplete is not pleasant, and mere instinct drives all young ones to strive for finished hearts. To not do so would be viewed as insane, and that Semcora would be rejected by all.

HAIR COLOR: Short-cropped black hair, longer pieces in the face.

MARKINGS / PIERCINGS: Irridescent blue from the skull down the spine that flares at the rear, one black and one white stylized fingers of a stylized hand on the left rib, black studs in the earlobes.
STYLE OF DRESS: Having no favorite colors, Sybil dresses in black, brown and white. Her shirt is a tank top, tight and black though is has many white and brown horizontal lines in it. Black skinny-leg pants hand from her thin hips and disappear mid-calf into brown and black buckle boots.
Her make up is done with little, though her eyes are very done up in dark shadows. She wears a brown jacket with the sleeves rolled up three-quarter length. On her left hand is an odd glove-type thing, though it only really covers one finger, though it is held on by black straps and buckles around the wrist.

Sybil’s personality is an odd thing. Not really knowing right from wrong, having an incomplete heart, her personality can change greatly. It seems her darker experiences have formed most of what people know of her, which is snarky, dark…generally a sort of blank feeling inside tinged with sarcasm and smirks. She questions everything. She's opinionated, can be loud, and says what she feels depending on how she's influenced. She can be pleasant around pleasant people, etc. Her temper is a bit short, and she’s not above blowing smoke in your face and then smirking about it. People, annoying as they are, have served to make her a loner sometimes, and it’s when she’s like this that she “enjoys” sharpening her skills. She trains by herself, as if she’s anticipating a life-changing event at any moment, which to a Semcora could be nearly anything. It’s frustrating.
Being of…unsure morals, being a Samurai provides her with a steady income, at least. Her sly aloofness has gotten her many a job. The Semcora Samurai Pirate has become a bit famous, often called a mercenary, which she is fine with. She comes off as quite the heartless killer sometimes.
Her people skills suck. She says what she thinks. Considering someone elses feelings or reactions is not her strong suit as of yet, though that could all change with one experience. Depending on what happens to form her, a person could meet her one day, then a year later she could be someone completely different. Being so..unstable and empty, Sybil is quite the actress. Since she observes people so much from afar, she can recall things and play them off convincingly if she wants, especially for a job.
If nothing else, one word that describes her well is objective. The neutral party. The one that thinks things through from a distanced perspective. In a group, she would be the one to bring up all options, “good” and “evil”. Sybil is both sides of the coin.
One thing that really vexes Sybil is flirty menfolk. Since she’s attractive, many have hit on her, but how can someone like her love? She can’t love or hate yet. Her heart is too young, but they don’t understand that. What is it with guys?

[Over the years, Sybil attained the ability to conduct electricity, able to shoot a small bolt from two of her fingertips held together. It has about the strength of a tazer with a side of burn, but if she wants to forfeit a portion of her strength for a while, she can call down a larger bolt from the sky to do some real damage. It's hard on her though, assuming it even hits it's target. Electricity and lightning are hard to control, even for a Semcora, so generally she likes to use an even lighter version, where she actually has to touch the person to give them a bit of a shock.]

Sybil was born around 25 years ago on KYUEL in the town of GEWA to some upstanding Semcora parents. Considering where they were born and raised, they’re markings were nearly all white, her father having two black her mother only one black finger. At birth, knowing their race they were very careful to raise her in the ways of their home, honor and pride, the life of a warrior. Sybil’s life was good. She learned many good things, like how to fight with two samurai swords, speed, agility, strength, a bit of magic…and fundamentals of the warrior spirit. Honestly, Semcoras are generally from the Gewa area, and are sort of a prized race there. Once completed, they make very, very loyal citizens, completely molded around all the model qualities upheld there. It doesn’t take too much to mold the Gewa Semcoras to be against Vana (an evil, psychotic goddess that destroyed cities) with unmovable alliance against her. Once a Semcora is formed, they cannot change. But with these wonderful qualities also comes the uncertainty and fear that a Semcora can go wrong, thus becoming something not accepted by the prideful land. Being so blank, it takes little to lean a young Semcora this way or that.
Such was unfortunately the case for Sybil Dahlia of Gewa.
While Sybil started out good, honor and pride instilled in her from the start and burned into her being with a white start to the hand marking on her rib, something went wrong. Being outspoken, Sybil on a few instances questioned if Vana was really bad. Being a fledgling, it was perfectly normal for her to not be able to distinguish between good and evil…but others her age, and a few older residents, were not so understanding. They shunned her, mistaking her normal questioning as support for the vile god. As if that wasn’t enough, through a freak accident her parents were killed, leaving her guideless at 15 years old. Sybil kept questioning everything, so the people started to grow more suspicious of her. It escalated until some of the more fanatical people locked her away in a dark room, unsure what to do with her. They wanted her one white marking to stay, and only more white ones to form. They were so afraid she’d become a supporter of Vana, that they couldn’t see any other way to keep a young Semcora from developing the right way without parents besides isolating her. Little did they knew that they were doing more harm than good.
And so, Sybil lived the next ten years in darkness, learning to hate it and fear it. So it was true…a Semcora stopped aging at 20 with an incomplete heart. It wasn’t pleasant, and slowly it began to mark her and build within her, leading her to the experience that gave her the black finger marking. During an important town meeting, her dinner arrangements were left to a younger resident, one left by himself. This was when she struck. Once he opened the door, her eyes only took a moment to adjust to the much needed light, and lead to her desperate move. Jumping up, Sybil rushed him, using the plan she’d had years to think over to steal his life away. But stealing his life meant freedom! Cracking his neck, a searing jolt of pain went through her and she grasped her side, the pitch black jagged design resembling a long finger appeared beside the white one. But still she smirked after the pain left, grasping her freedom and waltzing right out with her swords, leaving Gewa without a sound.
Without a home now, and paused at 20 years old, Sybil set out to try and complete her heart, so her real life could begin. By now she was used to mistrust by people, since she was seen as heartless. Outside of Gewa, she was emerged in a world much bigger than she’d thought, one consumed by Vana and rumors of Rii (The good god who was nowhere to be found). A world based so much on right and wrong, two things she couldn’t distinguish. A world of love and hate…no doubt it’d be easier for her if more Semcoras were around, but she could deal quite well.
One place in particular seemed to overlook her racial differences with an uncaring shrug. Morals didn’t matter in BRUNIS. Things were cheap, her skills came in handy, and no one gave a darn about good and evil. Just her kind of place. She could be honorable without judgment, prideful in who she was, even if she was incomplete. Sybil Dahlia formerly of Gewa settled here for a while, but still no experiences served to add to her being.
This is where her true story begins, her departure from Brunis. Finding nothing to complete her on this world, she felt no ties and thus hopped on a ship to leave Kyuel behind her. Not long on her jouney, she met a group of people called pirates, and has found a sort of..like of them. Their stories about Kingdom Hearts and Heartless and other various monsters and heroic tales attracted her instinct to pursue experiences that will complete her heart.
Where will she go from here? What will she see? Will she be shaped into an evil being or a good one? Black..or white?
