For those not in the know, AU is 'Alternate Universe'
Okay, so sometime earlier this week, Brezzen said it'd be really fun if FM characters could lead armies. As I read Erfworld, I tend to agree. It does look really sweet (from a purely theoretical vantage point) and, well, we're only limited by our imagination, right?
This idea really is Brezzen's baby though so I'm not going to suggest that we whip out our pocket armies and start attacking each other. I dunno how that'd even work.
What I *am* going to suggest here is that whoever wants to lead armies create a role-play where they gain that army (through inheritance, through subterfuge, through tactics, through brute strength, wtv) so as to give some depth and substance to any future role-play involving the battlefield.
Obviously you need someone to play with you so you'll be two to lead that army (or divisions of that army. Or your magical ninja alien monkies or what have you). But you will be, in essence, re-imagining your character's backstory, their motives, their leadership ability, their political affiliation - all of it. Or not. It's a neat thing to do, I think. And besides, when dealing with such an overwhelming number of characters, you'll have to think more about the NPCs that will surround your character. All of it's neat creative writing practice.
Anyone game? My ability to present ideas is kinda flatter than pancakes, so I'll understand if y'all are put off by my lack of expository abilities. ^^;

HAH! My character Lt. Colonel Engram already leads an army! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I'm all for this! It's like Risk, only without the risk!
...wait. I meant Stratego!
..that's not it either! Eh...
Oh, whateverness. ^^
Sounds like buckets o' fun!
So, just to make sure I've got the idea...
Two armies, with two people per army leading, are on a battlefield. For reasons determined at some point or another, they go crazy mad with war fever and charge at each other.
The two in charge of an army are in charge of it-- they give the orders and so on. The two can figure something out though, like which one has the final say, if they so desire.
The goal is the same as the old fan favorite Gettysburg-- stay alive, make sure they can't, and go home happy!
Four people'd be involved, with two on each side.
Army sizes and battlefield stuff would have to be figured out, I suppose... xD Maybe even figure out some important strongholds to both sideS?
That about right? ;D Either way, I think I'm game! ^^

I think that's Brezzen's end-goal. XD
These threads would just be backstory - how your character got his/her army and etc. But I'm game (or will be) for a rough-em-tough-em later down the line. ^^

So, since it's AU, we can reinvent however we see fit, to put an army of "Blank" out on the field. Sounds totally wicked. I could throw in Elizabeth, since she's not doing much, or I could just go with the Count, who's got actual leadership experience. Right now I'm hovering between "genius Heartless Tamer" and "self-proclaimed tactical genius."

Go with whatever you want! This is a backstory to army thread so you can always change it up if you decide you'd want the other for the 'real' fighting. ^^
