[ Closed practice bout with Emi! :D ]
Fire crackled at the fringes of leaves as trees fell to the ground in the wake of a moving figure among the falling trees' shadows.
Stop.
Her feet perched at a wayward tree root. And then promptly kicked it.
A throaty growl burst from the back of Eura's throat. Fire angrily surged upwards from the shell-like weapons at her arms in immediate response.
Steam.
Letting out some steam.
Grah.
Slapping a sweaty strand of black hair out of her face again, Eura jumped down from the ravaged tree root.
Steam. Nothing but an excuse. Not that it mattered.

It was hot. So hot. Emi sat up in her "bed" fashioned out leaves. So this wasn't her favorite world so far. Too many bugs and it was so. Freaking. Hot. Sweat rolled down the back of her neck.
It was hotter than usual, come to think of it. The smell of smoke was suddenly very strong and Emi's fight-or-flight instinct flared. The crackling of fire reached her ears and she snapped up, looking around manically.
There. Emi's eyes narrowed at person deeper on in the forest, hardly visible through the haze of smoke and the foliage. The forest was going to burn to ashes, and the very small noble voice in Emi's heart was saying she couldn't let that happen. At least not while Emi was living here. Oh no no no.
Emi made a growling noise and walked towards the person, pulling her kali sticks out of the inside pocket of her cropped jacket.

[ DUN DUN DUNNNNNN ]The fire at Eura's wrists dissipated as she stormed down the broken path.
Anger gripped at her mouth, drawing it down and into a harsh scowl.
...hold it.
Eura stopped and spun in the same second, turning for whatever had made the growling noise. In all the smoke, though--
Nngh.
Eura jerked her mouth open.
"Who's there?!"

"GET OUT OF HERE!" Emi snarled. Knowing there was no way this vandal was going to leave peacefully, she began to run towards her. She put as much momentum behind the swing of her fist and directed the punch right into the side of the intruders head, which she now saw was a female, several inches shorter than her with black hair.
(ooc: Trying to practice battling. :[ tell me if I'm doing okay)

[ Whoops! Take a quick look at your phrasing there-- it says that the fist connected with Eura's face.
Epic funny, yes! ;D But the rules mention only "going through the motions" when doing attacks. Like saying "goes to hit someone" instead of "hit someone". Liiiiiiittle godmoddy, but hardly a big issue!
Try not to do it in the future, okay? ^^ If this were a real fight, we'd probably stop, give you a chance to edit it, and then continue-- but this is practice, which means it falls under "Who cares?" xD ] WHAM went a speeding fist at the side of Eura's face, hitting solidly to the furious young woman's dismay. Sprawling to the plant-laden ground, with hair sprawking about in no clean manner about her face, Eura felt her anger pouring into her. Dang it...! This was "supposed TO BE A RELAXING TRIP!" Eura's feet lashed out, almost of their own accord, in an attempt to kick the enemy's feet from under th-- her. A girl... ...a tall one. W-why does everyone have to be taller...!LESSON 1! HAND-TO-HAND COMBAT! Eura won't use any abilities here-- like her unnatural strength-- until you've got the swing of things. Try to feel for what you think your character could guard, couldn't guard, and understand how they get into combat. Does Emi fight like a practiced warrior, with hundreds of different moves at her disposal? Or is she more perceptive, and "goes with the flow?"

[OOC: Actually, I reviewed my message and it said that I directed the punch at her head. I never said it impacted. I tried to be careful about my wording there, and make sure I didn't actually hit anyone. ^_^'']
Emi was too concerned with trying to land another hit on Eura, flailing recklessly as was her way, that she didn't notice her kick until it was too late. As she went down, she thought to herself "I really should look out for that" as it wasn't the first time someone had used that particular move on her. She fell onto the ground, but scrambled up quickly, blowing hair out of her mouth and wheezing slightly from the smoke. She wiped her arm across her mouth and took a half-second to try and come up with her next move. But she knew she couldn't wait for long, her opponent would be upon her shortly.
[OOC: Going with the notion that I don't actually KNOW what YOU are doing right now, so I can't really explain any of it with out god modding a bit. You know?]

[ Ah.
...
*facepalm*
Don't mind me-- I just can't read! xD ]Hhup! Jumping to her own feet as well, Eura gripped the Forzar Buffers tightly as she crouched into a battle stance and whirled to face her opponent once more. The Buffers were angled just so, so that they could defend at a moment's notice.
The battle instinct was upon her. That nigling little smat of rage that itched in her chest, just below the heart-- fierce and dominant rage. Her dark eyes dilated and waned with the beat her adrenaline made.
Screw caution.
"HyyAH!" Launching from a quick bend of the knees, Eura lunged forward for Emi. The right fist, metal Buffer and all, shot ahead of the lunge, for a quick snap at her left cheek. The right Buffer stayed close, itching to hit out at any blow that came towards Eura midjump. [ YAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH MOODY! ]

Emi held up her arm in defense, but the buffer was more powerful than what Emi's eskrima sticks could defend against. The strike jolted her to the right and she stumbled. Her arm stung like crazy and she lost grip of the stick in her left hand. She was going to have to buy some time to pick the stick up. If she was able to get the next shot in, she was going to duck down and grab the stick up and then go in for another attack, this time favorably in the arms. Revenge was sweet.
She lifted her elbow and went to strike Eura in the face.
[OOC: I really want to try and see if I can't use Emi's "Drumroll Please!" ability sometime soon... if you don't mind? You could use an ability too, if you want... I just don't want to die. =-=]

[ I'd like to take this oppurtunity to inform the academy that I stink like Pepe Le Pew... ]No such luck. Eura's left Forzar Buffer was ready for the coming blow already, and was able to simply raise the broadside of the buffer to meet the coming blow-- thus preventing it from ever reaching her person. The buffer moved to brutally shove the elbow sideways in a position that would be awkward and painful unless Emi thought on her feet and reacted quickly. [ LESSON 2, THE DEFENSE! Take note on how the last paragraph states that Eura's non-attacking buffer was itching to lash out at any coming blows, and that it was "staying close".
Try to keep defense in mind when your character goes in for an attack, or is on the run. Defense need not be using an ability that acts like a shield-- it can be anything that helps to prevent an attack from reaching it's mark. Like in this example-- Eura's inner monolouge simply states the left buffer is itching to meet any blows that come her way. (Offense is the best defense, eh? xD)
The most basic and integral ways to implement defense is by simply having your character state that they're on alert for what's coming. This doesn't excuse your character for avoiding every attack that comes their way, of course. xD It just means your character's looking for the coming attacks, and it'll be harder to surprise her!
Here's the clincher though-- the wording is vague. "Staying close" could mean close to the hips, close to the face, close to the ear-- you name it. But no matter what, it means "near the body", and insinuates being ready for whatever's coming.
In this case, it's been interpreted as "being near the face".
Wording that is vague can be taken advantage of, allowing for more flexible battle plans and can sometimes make it hard for your opponent to register that the sentence is important-- phrased right, a sneak attack set up by a character might go completely unnoticed by the opposing member and character.
Try to take advantage of it during the course of battle! ]And then Eura found the ground. Forcefully.
It was an awkward landing, given she had lashed out and defended like that midair and hadn't been looking to the ground--
Dang. She was too close, too unprepared for a coming attack.
Eura's Forzar Buffers blasted fire skyward, resuming the fire trail ended shortly beforehand.
Now that should get her to stumble long enough for a quick roll towards the edge of the clearing... [ By all means, feel free to use abilities! But looking at the one you've mentioned-- doesn't it say it can't be used on humans? ]

[Thanks for the tips. They're really helping. Bear with me, I'm still learning to process.]
Emi was pretty sure something was broken. The little snot had done something to her arm, twisted it some way. While her attacker fell to the ground, Emi jumped away, grabbed her arm and exploded into a string of expletives that would've been one long censor bleep. Now she'd done it. Emi's voice with hoarse, but she screamed "GET BACK HERE!" so loud her voice cracked. She grabbed up the kali stick she'd dropped and started running, holding her arm.
The girl tried to slow her down with fire. Obviously, Emi wasn't going to run straight though it, so she waited for it to dissipate. When it did, Emi saw that the girl was making a run for the clearing. Emi knew, even know her legs were longer than Eura's, that she wouldn't be able to catch up before she disappeared into the woods.
So, Emi raised her right hand eskrima stick, pointed it at Eura's back and let a burst of energy fly.
[Action Recap: She used Pulse Aura and directed it at Eura. Not sure if the fire was supposed to dissipate that fast, but in my experience, unless it catches something, fire doesn't last that long.] [I'm going to get better at this if it kills me!]

[ Right so anywaaaaaaaaaaaaaay...
Mistake Number One. Remember that this is a KH forum-- fantasy rules are in use at all times. Fire can last for a little bit before dissipating. Doesn't apply this time around though, due to a mistake I made seen below. xD
Mistake Numero Dos. Pulse Aura goes a max of three feet. It couldn't have hit Eura! Lucky Eura wasn't paying much attention so as she doesn't give you what for! xD
Next time... throw the weapon, and then activate Pulse Aura. See the workaround? ^^
Now, I made a mistake too. xD Flare is supposed to last a full round-- but I turned it off early. Good job trying to take advantage of it-- you just flubbed a little on the delivery. Double check those special abilities in the future! ^^ ]Eura leapt to her feet upon reaching the clearing's edge, hopefully out of harm's way for now. Defiantly, with an urgent rage arched into her eyebrows, Eura turned back to face her opponent.
Her Buffers began to glow faintly as she stormed back towards Emi, murder on her mind. [ LESSON #3: STATUS EFFECTS!
...
Actually, let's try and go for this one by experience! Fun, neh?
Double check Eura's weapon abilities, and find her Status Ability. Think carefully before reacting, and have at it! ^^ ]

[Right, well... now that I feel like a moron, let's end this as soon as possible. Like...tonight.]
"Aw....shi-iiiz," Emi growled. She recognized that death stalk. She had one just like it. This would not end well. She wondered if negotiation would work. It probably wasn't so smart of her to act without actually examining the situation first. Heh. It was that good old Emi impulse-control-disorder. Definitely regretting that idea now.
She decided... to retreat. She turned and ran. She knew there was no shame in retreating... it wasn't the same as running away...right?
