Physical Appearance ~ :
Yo. This isn't a wig.
Height ~ : 6'2'' [188 cm.]
Weight ~ : 142 lbs. [64.4 kg.]
Thane's no different than the average human in looks and apparel, right? He's somewhat tall, but not exactly lanky. Underneath his clothing lies alabaster skin that is well-cut, though not so much that it would show through the threads. Said threads are relatively plain, consisting of a white shirt with black trim, cut in a V-shape at the bottom hem, black pants made of durable, weather-proof cloth, sturdy, and polished shoes held by a single buckle.
These ordinary clothes are amplified by the sole "good looking" (in his opinion) piece of cloth on his back, a long, black coat that widens and tails out at the waist. There are two round pads of steel at the shoulders, and fluffy white material at the neck. A bold criss-cross print colored orange decorates and then lines the bottom of the jacket. The whole thing is held onto Thane loosely by two belt-buckled straps.
The guy's face isn't really outstanding, though it isn't quite bland, either. He has a narrow, defined face, though his cheekbones don't jut out prominently like you would perhaps expect them to. His eyes are a chocolaty brown; warm and endearing, but distant just as well. Really, it's his hair that strikes him out from the norm. A fine mop of argent hair sits daintily atop Thane's head, its tips dabbed in ebony. Silver is not his natural hair color-- Thane dyed it himself at the age of seventeen, hence the unintended black tips.
Accessories ~ : The only things that could be remotely referred to as accessories on Thane's person are the silver chain attached to his jacket and the cord necklace hanging around his neck, complete with a dangling rectangular charm made of silver.

Alignment ~ : Neutral [As long as you're not trying to kill me...]
Behavior ~ :
Thane takes things slow because he likes to take things slow. Fighting, talking, or whatever else you can think of; Thane makes his decisions carefully, with as much thought placed into each one as possible. Everything will fall into place eventually... It all depends on how long you're willing to set up your house of cards...
...Not that Thane needs to wait very long. While he's prone to draw things out as long as he wants; his mind doesn't move nearly as slow as he'd lead you to expect. Behind a dolled-up mask of lethargy and languidness, an alert, astute, wary man stares out at the world. These things come with their reasons, though, and Thane's is no more or less interesting than the next man's.
Thane's not really quiet, per se--He's actually fairly loud when he's excited, but his general tone is more calm and subdued. He doesn't mind stopping to chat, though he's prone to getting bored after a long discussion, and may even nod off.
His values are somewhat muddled; while as a child he could say that he possessed strong morals and a firm sense of justice, he has learned since stepping into the real world that honesty cannot take you everywhere. There is a bit of a manipulator hiding behind the quiet, laid back persona, though it would be a lie to say Thane only associates with people who he can use as tools. It's just... A little white lie here and there won't hurt every time, right? Despite all of that, he is in truth a compassionate person, if nothing else.
Fights aren't his favorite thing in the world, but he doesn't despise them entirely. The citizens of Bezirk were most famous as professional blacksmiths, and many of their people were formidable warriors skilled in the art of combat. His style relies heavily on defensive maneuvers, whether it is to parry or deflect, but most of it is a facade, a trap to lure his opponents into thinking he's all about defense, when in reality his true strikes are fluidly swift and as powerful asCrasher Wakea crashing wave.
However, if you would heed one caution: do not anger Thane. His anger is silent and brooding, rather than expressed rage. Once infuriated enough, he simply shuts out the world, ignoring rhyme and reason; if this occurs in a fight, expect no quarter from his blade. Truly angering the Bezirkian takes a lot, however, so it's safe to say he can take a burn or three.

~Weapons~
My only representation of pride.
[/i][/b]My only representation of pride.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Primary Weapon
ID: Tiefschlange [Cyclone Serpent]
Quality: Supreme
The denizens of Bezirk all go through one particular rite of passage, the final step for them to reach adulthood, and that is the creation of their own unique weapon. They work the forges for three weeks before their seventeenth birthday, and must present the completed weapon on their birthday. For Bezirkians, their first weapon is often their finest creation and their most cherished armament.
Tiefschlange is a fine spear, about seven feet in length. Its composition is pure Bezirkian black steel, an extremely durable alloy. The haft of the spear is half as thick as Thane's arm and hollowed out. The spearhead itself is about the size of Thane's chest, shaped much like a coffin whose sides are curved inward. The blade of the spearhead makes it an efficient cutting weapon, but less effective with jabs, making it more like a halberd in that regard. Also at the center of the spearhead is a hollowed out portion with a thick rod wedged in that Thane can grab (very similar to how Keyblade handles are built).
At the other end of Tiefschlange is a thick spike that covers for any stabby stabby needs. While it is a large and somewhat intimidating-looking weapon, Tiefschlange is fairly light, lighter even than the standard halberd, allowing Thane to maneuver it around with ease one-handed.
Ability: Brechen [Snap]
Strength: Weak
Duration: 1 Round
Cool Down: 1 Round (2 Rounds Total)
Use Limit: 10 Uses per Thread
Summary: Shoots out Tiefschlange's spearhead out at high speeds, much like a deadly lightning bolt.
Ability: Raureif [Hoarfrost]
Strength: Moderate
Duration: 1 Round (Consumes an entire attack post)
Cool Down: 2 Rounds
Use Limit: 8 Uses per Thread
Summary: Fires a powerful bladed ring of ivory snow at the opponent, striking them multiple times before shattering.
Ability: Alscazir, Taifun Kaiser [Alscazir, Typhoon Emperor]
Strength: Strong
Duration: 5 Rounds
Cool Down: 6 Rounds
Use Limit: 2 Uses per Thread
Summary: Tiefschlange's most powerful ability; it summons a deity of storms into the spear to aid Thane for an allotted amount of time.
Ability: Sturmwarnung [Storm Warning]
Type: Status Effect
Secondary Weapon
ID: Schlachter [Slaughterer]
Schlachter is far from special compared to Tiefschlange. It's an ordinary trench knife made from Bezirkian bronze and steel. It's a handy weapon to sneak out when someone thinks they're clever and steps inside Thane's effective spearfighting range. Schlachter is a weapon that fits best into Thane's left hand for raw power.
Bezirk. It was a small world, as many worlds were, and it was once the home of the Bezirkians, a flourishing population whose entire lives revolved around the forge. The leaders of the world were expert blacksmiths, a majority of Bezirk's commerce revolved around inter-world arms selling, and even the deities that created Bezirk found common ground in the forge.
Nathan Wach was just one of the many citizens born in Bezirk to a common, yet well-off family. Nathan wasn't the first child of his family, nor was he the second. In fact, he was the fourth of six boys born to his parents, and as such, faced a lot of competition to try and gain the attention of his family. They were rather large, after all. It wasn't easy to stand out, especially when the main profession everyone went for was smithing. In that regard, Thane was no different; although he showed early signs of being a decent smith, two of his older brothers far outshone him in ability. However, there was one thing Thane excelled at above all his siblings, and that was engineering. His brothers could craft the finest blades of steel they wished to; Thane could take an ordinary blade and transform it into an intricate weapon yet unseen at their family's forge.
Regardless, it still wasn't enough to push Thane to the very top of the tower, and so the six Wach brothers often quarreled and competed amongst each other for their parents' affection. Said parents were laughing behind their backs; they both knew that each son received just as much love as the other--they simply went through the same experiences in their lives, and who were they to deprive their boys of their childhood? In any case...
Other than the constant bickering between him and his brothers, Thane led a relatively normal life. Made friends, went to school, and all that. Bezirkian schools were adapted so that at the age of seven, when Bezirkian childrens' bodies were strong enough, they would begin training the hammer and the anvil under either their parents or their own smith masters. And Thane was no different; by the time he was seven, he was happily brought to an old smith by the name of Wolt, a gray-haired geezer Thane would get to know quite well for the next decade as he fit the forge into his life.
The first few years working as a forge apprentice was rough on Thane. He was a precise, meticulous builder, but lacked the raw strength that his brothers possessed to wield the hammer of the forge. In a way, Thane spent more time at the beginning running himself ragged under Wolt's physical training regime. Despite the insane program, the boy threw himself headfirst into it, determined to prove to his smith that he was worthy to be trained under him. Three grueling years passed with very little interaction between Thane and the anvil, Wolt finally deemed the child's physical progress acceptable, and at the age of ten, three years behind all the other children, Thane took up the hammer.
Somehow, Wolt wasn't surprised that Thane quickly caught onto the inner workings of weapons: their composition, the materials needed to forge them, and the ideal conditions to create them. His weapons were of such fine quality that it seemed they could be hung up on the shelves of Bezirkian armories straight out of the forge. In fact, Thane's phenomenal progress seemed to pass by his master's eyes without him even being a mite impressed. This, coupled with his parents' impartiality to all the children, piled up on Thane, and he eventually began to develop an inferiority complex of sorts.
Over the years, the little weapons he forged became less and less impressive, until one day, at thirteen, Thane's lack of self-confidence led him to create a sword that shattered the moment the heat of the flames left its blade. With wide-eyed shock, the young man stared at his utter failure, knowing his master had been watching from behind. He expected fury, or perhaps a blow to the head for his ineptitude. However, what he received was a booming roar of laughter, as well as a an appreciative pat on the back. "Now you're ready!" he had said.
"Only after knowing failure will you be a true smith! Gwa ha ha!! Come, kid. I've got much to teach you!"
The next four years passed by like a blur to the Bezirkian as his teaching became much more intense and involved. Wolt drilled Thane repeatedly with the most advanced techniques he himself knew, and by the time Thane reached seventeen, he had become a smith's apprentice whose works could top some of the more advanced blacksmiths. His time as a student had ended, and now he would begin his rite of passage to adulthood, to become a full-fledged blacksmith.
At the age of seventeen, every Bezirkian teenager ends their apprenticeship at the forge, and as their final test, they must create the finest weapon with their own two hands. They're left alone in their shop for three weeks with the finest tools and materials needed to craft their weapon, as well as a figurine of one of the seven deities that reign over Bezirk. It was also a custom (but not mandatory) for Bezirkians to dye their hair the same color of the figurine they are given. For Thane, he was left with a carved silver statue of a grand serpent: the Typhoon Emperor, Alscazir, Wolt's most treasured hammer, and a bottle of silver liquid to dye his hair with. After making a nice shining mess of his hair, the young man laid out his tools, and began work on his masterpiece. For twenty days, Thane slaved over the coals of the forge, crafting en elegant, extravagant spear of Bezirkian alloy. On the twentieth night, the night before his birthday, Thane held the statue of Alscazir to the spear, sending a prayer to the storm deity to bless the weapon, which he had named Tiefschlange.
That night, the silver haired man had a curious dream. He was standing on a lone pillar with a floor made of magnificent, glowing stained glass. From above, one would see that hte stained glass formed a portrait of a sword and staff crossed, standing behind a shield. Before Thane were two floating weapons, a sword and shield, as well as a staff that was lying around. Each of the three weapons bore a round mouse head and ears, and a white mouse could be found within the vicinity of each weapon (Thane raised a brow at the mouse near the staff, as it was actually floating in the air). His feet dragged him forward, and the three mice set their beady eyes to the teen with intense stares. Somewhere in his mind, a voice told him to choose one of the weapons, and on instinct, he stepped forth to grasp the sturdy shield. A bright light and a screeching sound were all he could remember after that.
Thane awoke with a start; the bright light and the screech had startled him considerably, and he was perturbed that the screech was still ringing in his ears. Shaking his head, he soon discerned that the screech was actually a scream of agony, and the Bezirkian was on full alert as he leapt to his feet. Screams of monsters and men alike began to cloud the skies, and Thane knew that there was an attack on his village. There were no other weapons in the forge other than Tiefschlange, and while it was against custom to use the blessed weapon before it was formally presented to the village, Thane put his life over tradition, and headed out with the spear in hand.
Monsters... Yellow eyed beasts of ebony shades and various, menacing shapes... They were ravaging the village, slaughtering his people like they were mere pigs in the farm. The stronger men tried to fight these monsters off, but their weapons had no effect at all against their shadowy skin. In time, the monsters spotted Thane, who began to run back to his home, partially to get the hell away from the monsters, but mostly to ensure that his family was safe. They weren't.
The entire row of houses that made up Thane's neighborhood had been completely torn down. There were no screams of men or women here; only the teeming monsters remained. His family... they had already fallen. Pure, unbridled rage took over Thane's body and being, and without a second thought, he charged into the crowd of monsters, hacking at their ranks, tearing their gruesome bodies to shreds with Tiefschlange. He did not stop to wonder why his own weapon could slay the monsters, for he was too ridden with fury over the loss of his kin to care.
Minutes passed like hours as the never-ending mass of creatures surrounded and swarmed Thane. He was starting to lose energy, though his sheer will to destroy these monsters kept him fighting. An abrupt, massive rumbling interrupted the fight as a gargantuan glowing heart rose from the earth, floating high into the sky. The monsters lost interest in Thane instantly, clawing over each other as they began to rise into the sky towards the heart. Thane was left alone, bruised and bloody, desperately trying to destroy the swiftly retreating beasts. It was to no avail, and the man fell to his knees in realization that he was now truly alone.
Of course, that thought was soon shoved aside by another rumble, followed by another, followed by yet another. The heart of Bezirk had been claimed by the Heartless, and now the world was beginning to degenerate. Panic overtook rage and sorrow as Thane desperately searched for a way to avoid the inevitable chaos that was the destruction of Bezirk. After realizing that there was no way for him to escape, the man simply gave up, accepting his fate as the shadows swallowed him and his world...
Only to wake up again under the dim lights of a lamp post. Cool stone met Thane's skin as his eyes fluttered open. Was this the afterlife? A menacing shadow and a pair of golden eyes confirmed the opposite; the memories of the destruction of his world came surging back, and Thane brought Tiefschlange down on the monster as hard as possible. When it faded away, he could hear a low whistle, as well as some slow clapping.
"So... you can fight the Heartless."
Heartless? Thane turned around in the direction of the voice to see a man around his father's age, a strong-armed male with a sword belted at his waist. Unsure of his motives, Thane brought his spear level with the newcomer's face, who simply scoffed and assured the other that his intentions were true. He had noticed Thane suddenly appear on the street, and insisted that he knew everything that was going on. Deciding to trust him for the moment, the two shared a cup of coffee in a nearby cafe.
Thane was no longer in Bezirk. Far from it. Now, he resided in the First District of Traverse Town, a world known to house those whose worlds were destroyed by the Heartless... those shadowy monsters. The hours passed as Thane and the older man (introducing himself as Alastor) talked, and the Bezirkian soaked up as much information as he could. Soon enough, the Second District's clocktower rang midnight's bells, and Thane was invited to Alastor's home, if only to stay the night while he decided on his next course of action. The evening passed swiftly, and soon Thane was at Alastor's doorstep, looking outside as if hesitant.
"So, what'cha gonna do now, kid?" Thane turned around, thought for a moment, then finally shrugged his shoulders.
"There's no point in trying to exterminate these Heartless altogether; I'm just one guy. I guess... I'll wander, and maybe pick something up on the way." Alastor stared long into the younger one's eyes, as if assessing his will, but let off and nodded, producing a jingling sack of Munny. It was his farewell gift, as both men knew they would not likely cross paths again. So instead of invoking a tear jerking farewell, Thane simply nodded and smiled, turning around and taking the first step of his new life.
Three years have passed since then... And still he wanders.
It was a strange dream... I was beset by three white mice.
~ One looked rather awkward, circling a floating sword. But even the tiniest of rodents can express indomitable courage and determination.
~ Another seemed to be hiding cowardly behind a large shield. In its eyes, though, infallible resolve shone through.
~ The third was by far the most interesting; perhaps because it was floating, rather than the magic staff that lay idly on the floor.
It was obvious they wanted me to take them along, but I only had room for one in my pockets.
"Well, I guess I could sit behind this and avoid getting killed," I'd mumbled then, kicking the shield up and grabbing it mid-flight.
~Other~
Thane's a righty by nature, but learned ambidexterity over time; his left arm's got more muscle to it, but his right arm's more precise. He's got a keen eye for assessing the fine quality of weapons, and can tell a junk sword from a sword in the stone. Along with that, he's an expert blacksmith.
Thane's knowledge of Heartless and the Keyblades is pretty high, and he has encountered Nobodies in the past three years. However, he has yet to meet any extremely strong-willed Nobodies (such as the Organization's members and the like).
Bezirkians are similar to Germans in terms of build, facial features, and language.
