Audition post (400 words): *Note: To avoid confusion, Ryu doesn't talk much at all. In the game, he literally has one speaking part, and as such, I tried to portray that here. What is in italics is him thinking, otherwise he is speaking Hope that helps.*

Laying his sword gently on the sandy beach, Ryu sat down by himself and pulled out his fishing rod. Nothing like a nice, relaxing fishing trip. he thought, attaching the bait and casting the line. Maybe I’ll actually catch something this time… He chuckled a little, remembering the last time the group had gone fishing. She had caught a massive fish, while he hadn’t caught anything. That was a while ago… before Nina was made queen of Wyndia… He pulled in his empty line and lay down, watching the clouds go by. I miss them… It wasn’t as though Ryu and Nina never talked, Ryu had been appointed the position of First Knight of the Queen when she had received the news. No, Rei, Momo and Peco were on his mind, and while they still talked, it wasn’t very often. He frowned slightly, and closed his eyes. Those were good times.

Whe Ryu opened his eyes, it was a bit darker. Must have fallen asleep… he thought as he sat up. Grabbing his fishing rod, then sword, he turned in the direction of the road to Wyndia. I can’t keep Nina waiting. Hopefully she’ll forgive me for being late… He knew she probably would, but it didn’t stop him from feeling guilty about it, and his face probably showed that. At least it isn’t too long a journey back. The royal city of Wyndia was in sight already, and Ryu decided to speed up a bit. Maybe he could stop in at the Guard Tower and see if Rei was in… I doubt he’ll be there… But it’s worth a try. Walking into the city, Ryu wasn’t even looked at twice, as the guards already knew his face well. He had helped them out on numerous occasions when crooks were on the loose, not to mention his position of knighthood. Ryu couldn’t stand innocent people getting hurt, and as such helped them out as much as he could.

Turning into the guard’s tower, Ryu walked up to the guard currently positioned as watchman. “Excuse me…” Ryu directed towards him. He hated his voice, but Nina had been trying to get him to work on talking more. The man looked up quickly. “Ah, Sir Ryu, it’s nice to see you again! Are you looking for Master Rei?” he asked in a cheery, yet tired tone. Ryu grinned a little, and nodded. “I apologize, Sir, but regrettably Rei is investigating a report that came in earlier about the Maekyss Gorge being attacked by a large winged creature. Something about it being almost like a shadow, with some heart-shaped symbol on its wings.” The way he describes it… Could it be a… Dragon? he thought, with an obviously confused and shocked face. The man had obviously caught his expression, as he quickly added “Don’t worry, though. Master Rei will be able to handle it.” Ryu nodded, but turned and quickly ran in the direction of the castle. He’d need to talk to Nina about this, and get her permission to leave. He couldn’t let innocent people get hurt from something like this. I know Rei can hold his own... but if it really is a dragon he's going to have trouble. I thought I was the last of the Brood… He burst through the castle doors, heading to the Queen's Chambers, and knocked on the door. I need you to be here, Nina. Please...

Hmmm. There's a few weaknesses here. The major one is that Ryu's personality doesn't really come out much at all. Forgive me for saying this but he comes out pretty generic in this audition. You have him focusing on the people he knows which makes for good context, but not really much individuality. All I get are the feelings of a peaceful guy and not really Ryu as a person.

However!

According to wiki he's the silent protagonist type and I understand that this makes getting into his head a bit harder than usual. Especially since his game wasn't exactly built with HOMG glittery pixels and understandable facial expressions and body language. So I'm going to give this the benefit of the doubt and say-

I expect to see more personality when you play him. Even if that personality is bland and vanilla, there's always a certain substance to a person's character. Best of luck with the next character mod!

Hmm, I'm not certain about this audition. Capcom is the rights holder to Breath of Fire, all 3 of them in fact...I'd like to do a little research before I make my call, though I do agree with some points from my fellow crew member.

Going to ninja post in here. Sorry if I'm not supposed to o.O

I am aware that the Breath of Fire series is owned by Capcom, however after I discovered this, Brezzen pointed out to me that the first game was made by Square. I talked with High about it and she gave me permission before I auditioned. I can understand either decision, however.

Ah...the typical hero figure...sometimes, I dun understand why you guys go for these kind of characters that lacks quirks...>_> But ah well, the more blank of a slate, the easier to develop, yah?

And then, while researching, I got really confused. @_@ HOW MANY RYUS ARE THEREEEE?? And are they all different??

Well...in the end, they all have similar personalities...but I rather you pick one Ryu and stick to it. >_> Gah, you guys...just pick good solid characters from good solid Squeenix games. =_= Always making me work.

Anyway, Dei said it all. He is pretty bland to begin with, so hopefully, you can add some spice into him.
