In the Flesh
Niccolo Fortunato, though tall and striking, is slightly underweight, obviously making him look gangly and long limbed. Though it’s not often that the man under the mask should draw eyes at the first glance, Nicco is oddly handsome, with a long face and shapely chin, and looks ridiculously feminine when he puts his hair up. His hooked nose reminds many of a bird, which was one of the main reasons why he was nicknamed Crovo, the Italian term for Crow. Nicco’s startling red hair is well below shoulder length, and he usually ties it up into a low pony tail with a few bangs hanging in front of his face. The lush scarlet color of his hair might have been dyed, but no one is sure what his original hair color is. One might guess though, from his childhood nickname, his hair might have been black or a much darker shade than the current bright red.
Along with his summon bird, Crovo has a small pink bird that’s not bigger than his palm that follows him everywhere. Adelina, whom Crovo calls Addy for short, is pink all over, with a single curly feather sticking from the top of her head. From the distance, she looks like a small pink puff ball. She comically sits atop Crovo’s head, where she watches all with black beady eyes. Addy has a fierce disposition against people she deemed as enemies, and likes to peck them at whatever chance available. But as soon as someone presents her with berries and seeds, any sense of hostility is erased and she’ll be the provider’s best friend. Addy’s loyalty always resides in Crovo though, and may seem kind of jealous if Crovo show’s any interest in females other than herself.
The Deceiver
The reason why Nicolo is nicknamed ‘The Bird Man’ is obvious and plain due to the mask he wears almost at all times. The mask is an old Venetian masquerade mask with a long beak and lavished with exquisite detail. [Check the picture].
Crovo’s apparel also adds to the false impression of gentlemanliness. A flamboyant white buttoned up shirt with puffy sleeves and fancy collars accompanied by a black vest with gold buttons and embroidering. A black sash of the softest silk is wrapped around the male’s torso, revealing his thin figure. Attached to his hip is a small bird cage. It’s usually empty.
From the torso down, Crovo wears a pair of long white pants made of heavy canvas material. The pant leg is wide and hides his feet. Sometimes Crovo walks around barefooted and other times, he has on a pair of black flats.

Behavior:
Under the mask…
At first glance, Crovo appears as a Venetian gentleman, enigmatic, charismatic, a seducer of women, and maybe even men because of his choice of clothing and the masquerade mask he wears. He reminds many of the kind of man who knew how to enjoy life, a party animal, for who the heck wears a masquerade mask wherever he goes? People are naturally attracted to him simply because of the mystery that seemed to stir behind the man. He is an enigma, a symbol, and people are fascinated with symbols, with the unknown.
Take off the regal mask and after an exchange of a few words, Crovo surprisingly comes off as a sleaze, a punk, or someone who has better things to do than listen to you talk. It is rare for him to walk up to someone and strike up a friendly conversation—he has no problem striking up a conversation—and he shows very little respect when people talk, his mind often wandering away [unless you have something interesting to say]. Yet, after getting past his ‘whatever’ shell, one can find him to be quite amusing. Talkative, humorous, sarcastic, Crovo can be quite flexible to suit your needs. However, Crovo spare very little sweet talk, often crudely blunt with people, whether he or she is close or a stranger. He shows a strange gentle side when around animals and sometimes kids, as long as they don’t annoy him to the brink of insanity. All in all, one might find him to be a perfect companion.
However, after much time spent with Nico, one might also find, to their disappointment, that he can be quite a compulsive liar. It’s not because he does it on purpose, but one of Crovo’s little hobby seemed to be lying. In fact, his background is so muddled up thanks to his compulsive lying, that even his closest friends knew practically nothing. Then again, Crovo isn’t very good at keeping friends—thanks to his tendency to lie and a few other small unfortunate perks—so it’s a wonder that his background is simply an intricate web of deceit.
One of the ‘unfortunate perks’ the man is that gets easily aggravated when things don’t go his way, or he doesn’t have something he currently needed. The aggravation usually never heightens to physical abuse, but Crovo has no problem lashing out at nearby objects if he’s crabby enough. His fits of rage might remind many of a giant sized temper tantrum coming from a big man. But he tries his best; he really does, to restrain his fits.
He never hits a person though [or animal], for underneath, Crovo can be quite a coward, which is another irksome trait of his, and even blind by rage, he knew better than to hit someone and give himself trouble afterwards. Though curiosity gets him from time to time, like a crow, Crovo usually thinks of his own hide before others in stressful situations. Thus, he tries his best to avoid taxing environments, to the brink of sometimes breaking promises, or getting others in trouble in order to save himself.

Bird Cage
A small bird cage that Crovo carries at all time. The cage is made with fine brass wires and well polished. It’s about the size of Crovo’s hand and really can’t hold any kind of real bird without suffocating the poor thing. Inside the cage is a bird perch with a thoroughly crafted wooden raven sitting atop the perch. The wooden raven is actually the dormant form of Kass, Crovo’s main summon. As soon as the brass door to the cage opens, Kass emerges and becomes Crovo’s ally, regardless where the cage is.
Twitters
A set of three daggers that Crovo’s hide among his body. The daggers are the length of Crovo’s palm with fanciful curves to the edge of the blade. The handles are made of ivory, and carved in the shape of a phoenix rising from the ash. The blade is a curious shade of red, reflecting Crovo’s hair color. They make a light twittering sound when thrown, and sound like birds flying towards their target.

=[Defender Kass]=
An ability than relies on Kass’ transformation in Biter. While Kass is in its Biter form, with just a whistle, Crovo can call upon Biter Kass to reform into something similar to a shield, permanently strapped to his left forearm. The shield is five feet in length and almost four feet across at its widest, encompassing almost all of Crovo’s body. The weapon formed by Crovo’s summon is black with lower jagged rim that resembles Kass’ claws while the upper part of the shield is spread out in the shape of wings. Kass’ single green eye is meld into the surface of the shield, blinking and watching the enemy. Fortunately, the eye is not the shield’s weak spot, for whenever an attack is aimed at the shield the eye closes to prevent injury. Crovo can ‘see’ when he is completely hidden behind the shield; however, his vision is limited to five feet in front of him. While the shield is effective against enemies, at the same time, Crovo can use it for attack. Whether it be bopping the enemy across the head, or bashing the target with the sharp jagged edges, the shield also has another form of attack in store for the enemy. So far, we’ve covered Kass’ eye, claws, and wings. What about the beak with the jagged teeth?
Whenever Crovo make a forceful thrust at his opponent, a large beak would burst forth from the center of the shield, opened and targeted at the opponent, hoping to take a bite out of whoever is unfortunate enough to be standing at the receiving end. As soon as Crovo retracts the weapon, the beak will retract into the shield, where it awaits another turn to chomp on an unsuspecting individual. The beak extends to three feet, gnashing and gnawing along the way.
The shield is effective against most weak attacks and can even hold out its own against moderate attacks [though for a shorter time], but when faced with strong attacks, just one blow can obliterate the shield and force Kass to return to its original form with of course, a large amount of damage. For moderate attacks, the shield can take two hits before changing back with moderate damage. For weaker blows, Kass can withstand four at max before changing back with moderate damage. The shield can only block one ability per post. Any other attack aimed at Crovo would have to be dodged in some other kind of way.

=[Wish I Had Wings]=
Attribute-wise, Crovo lacked in almost everything. Strength is not his specialty, nor is he exceptionally fast. Neither his stamina nor his magical ability is to die for. However, if there’s anything he’s great at, it would have to be his agility. It’s practically a gift. The man, long and gangly, is actually flexible and agile, thus allowing him to perform stunts such as leaping from building to building with finesse or climbing trees with a similarity to a monkey’s nimbleness. Almost like he had wings. Almost.

Name:
Kass
Appearance:
Height:
Kass is a humongous bird, standing at 4ft 7in with a wing span of nearly 10 ft.
Feather Color:
Black from head to toe. He is a raven after all. His feathers are scruffy and ruffled.
Eyecolor:
Green
Build:
Kass seems like a bird on steroids, but raven moves with the agility of a sparrow. Kass’ developed leg muscles and large wing span enables him to go into flight with a simple jump without worrying about his huge bulk. Kass’ talons can kill with a blow and are about the size of Crovo’s face.
Kass, when dormant, appears as the small wooden carving in a brass bird cage. As soon as the door to the brass cage is open, Kass emerges with an ear piercing shriek. It knows who it’s master is, so the brass cage doesn’t apply to the rule of a genie lamp. Whether the cage be in the hands of an enemy or friend, Kass only listens to Crovo. Kass is not violent, and only acts on Crovo’s command. Sometimes, by impulse, the giant raven will feel the need to snap at someone’s hand [including Crovo’s] in order to demand attention and respect.

Abilities:

=[Liquid Shadow]=
When put in the right environment, Kass would have the power to melt right into the walls or the ground with ease. It would have to be a dim and dark surrounding with very little light and lots and lots of empty dark space. With this ability, the large Raven would be able to attack with the element of surprise on his side, stretch and bend his shape to protect his master or attack his enemy, and practically shift into almost anything useful as long as the shifting stays within the shadows. With the ability to possess the malleability, liquidity, and rigidness, Kass would be able to absorb and block most ability thrown at his master, and manage almost any shape and form. [Kass cannot absorb attacks when in bird form.] Spikes, shields, swords, disgusting black goo to choke you to death, you name it, Kass can create it. However, Kass cannot move the shadows with him, so he cannot go too far if he wants to perform this ability. Also, should anyone shine a light to completely brighten up the area, Kass would be forced to return to its original form of a bird. The same goes for complete darkness. In complete darkness, Kass would be helpless due to the fact that there is no shadow, therefore, nothing to merge and bend with. So the environment must be dark, but still have some form of light to support shadows.

Strong [6 AP]
Use
Kass' ability to meld into the shadow is a constant ability. However, for the sake of mobility, whenever Kass moves, the opponent will be able to spot him. It's just a matter of keeping up. Kass can remain in this form for four consecutive post before he must return to his normal avian form due to his inability to spread out his energy long enough to remain malleable. After this, five posts must pass before he can use this ability again. However, the post cool down is shortened if the bird does not stay in the form for four straight posts. Any light based attack will force Kass to immediately revert back to bird form.
=[Raven’s Meteor]=
In this ability, Kass builds itself up with energy ascending at an incredible speed before diving back to earth. As soon as he begin to drop, his built up energy explodes into roaring black fire, similar to that of a meteor entering the atmosphere. Along with the fire, the sudden change in air pressure creates a barrier around Kass. Any attack aimed at Kass during his descend will be absorbed and nullified by the barrier thus allowing the Raven to complete its attack without fail. The barrier also works as an extra push when Kass hits the target, creating an effect of a gravity attack that crushes the opponent and locks them in place as soon as the barrier touches them as well as burn him/her.
Right after it hits, Kass would bounce right back up and like a pogo stick, and strike another spot at random with the same attack without flying up to gather speed again. However, after the initial blow, much of the fire and barrier would have worn off, making the attack weaker by half. This allows Kass to attack only two times consecutively. Kass’ accuracy is also reduced by one third when using this attack.
Strength
Weak [2 AP]
Use
Two times per thread
Four post cool down
=[Biter]=
In the move Biter, Kass is given the ability to mutate into a much viler version of itself. Like a gelatinous glop, almost all of its former feathery glory would melt into a mush, with patches of feather left here and there. Its two legs would meld together to form one leg with a giant claw. Similarly, the bird’s two eyes would morph to one large green eye while its beak elongates. Upon opening the beak, one would find that Kass had grown a set of sharp incisors along the beak. Overall, the once frightening raven becomes even more frightening, with sharper claws and teeth. This transformation is important to the ability, Defender Kass.

=[Slayer]=
In Kass’ signature move, the bird begins spinning in one direction at top speed, creating a suction that draws in not nearby objects, but shadows within arena. It takes merely seconds for it to suck in all the shadows within thirty feet and during this time, both opponents and friend are battered with a strong wind that would usually render lighter enemies immobile for as long as the wind lasts. After the giant bird had absorbed all of the shadows of the field, there is a two second lapse that allows any enemy to try and attack the bird—which would now resemble a large spiked sea urchin—before he unleashes the attack. As soon as Kass begin spinning in its opposite direction, large black spikes about three foot long and three feet in diameter would shoot out at a considerably fast speed. It’s avoidable, but the large amount of it is ridiculous. The spikes cannot penetrate shield or metal armor, merely turning into a blob of shadow if met with this kind of defense. The spikes disappear as soon as it hits something, so it would never give any fatal injury or punctures skin. Instead, being hit by it is like being whammed across the head by a large baseball bat.
As soon as all of the shadows are used up, Kass stops spinning and is vulnerable for five seconds from the spinning.

No one really knew where Crovo came from. [To be honest, not even the author knows where he came from!] The man was such a fib teller that very little is known about him. However, rumors still spread, be they true or not, and there are multiple stories about where Crovo came from though…[/blockquote]
Some people are convinced—thanks to Crovo—that the Bird Man came from a human sized bird egg that was created by some unknown deity. Crovo had bounded from the egg millions of years ago looking just the same as he looks today along with his companion Kass and little Adelina—except of course, he had no clothes on. And he has been traveling to this day, trying to find his purpose in life.
And then some other people believed that Crovo was abandoned at birth by a pair of wild parents who knew nothing but to party, party, and party. He was found by a herd of crows that looked the same as Kass. They had originally intended the baby Crovo to be food, but the leader of the birds had decided to take in the child when it’s piercing screams scared away a potential predator of the birds. Crovo grew up into a handsome young man, wild, nonetheless, but was well attuned with the birds. He left the Crows, taking with him a bird named Kass to act as his guardian, and a small pink bird named Adelina as companion.
Then, some people swore that Crovo was actually the son of a not so well known circus director. The slender red head was actually the bird tamer of the circus, and that he dressed himself up in such flamboyant costumes in order to impress. The circus, however, is no more, breaking apart after it was unable to pull itself out of financial turmoil.
There are other rumors, whispering that Crovo really was a killer, but for good reasons! He murdered his family and neighbors after having a prophetic dream of the end of the world. Soon after he had slaughtered his close ones to save them from this doom, the heartless attacked his world. Somehow, Crovo had managed to escape, dumped in the dismal streets of Port Royal. He hid his face with the bird mask in order to hide his shame, and make sure that no one familiar ever recognize him.
Of course, maybe the man was simply building fabrications off of little factual pieces of his life. Maybe Crovo was abandoned at birth, raised by birds, became a circus bird tamer [or is actually part of the circus oddity], dumped in Port Royal after his home was taken over by Darkness, and is now searching for a purpose in life. All in all there’s not much about Crovo’s background that anyone knows, and the truth will go with him to the grave…
