Awaken. It's not your time to die. You're unconscious, yet somehow, you hear a voice whispering to you, almost as if it was inside your head.
Awaken.
You open your eyes, and as they adjust to the dim lighting, you realize you're lying on the ground outside. You were on your way somewhere, but oddly enough, you don't where you were headed. Slowly you stand up and brush yourself off. Lightning flashes, and thunder cracks, and as it starts to pour, you realize you don't have an umbrella, nor are you dressed to walk around in the rain. Why? You're in your pajamas.
To avoid being soaked to the bone you run for the nearest door, and open it. You hear a ding, and realize that you're in a shop. You figure since you're hear you might as well take a look around, and see just what they sell. You wouldn't buy anything though, you don't have any money on you. As you peruse the various items on the shelves, you begin to wonder just what kind of shop this is. All of the items are labeled, and most of them you've never even heard of. All of them remind you of things that you see in movies that involve witches and voodoo.
"Just what the hell is this place?" you ask yourself, whispering so as to not make whoever was working here angry.
"This place is called Relinquish." a young male's voice replies. Hearing the voice you spin around, and see a young man. If you had to guess he was in his mid twenties. He had dark hair, and it was spiked up somewhat. His clothes were somewhat casual, though he was wearing a rather elaborate looking silver ring.
"Excuse me?" You ask confused.
"The store. It's named Relinquish. Everything here deals with magic, demons, spirits. You know, ghosts, vampires, werewolves." The young man smiles at you and continues. "I know it sounds kind of crazy, but I didn't start the shop, I just inherited it." He points to a nearby chair, and walks off.
At first you think about running. After all, anyone who'd work in a shop that sells stuff dealing with monsters and fairies must be crazy. But for some reason you feel like you owe the guy. So you slowly make your way to the chair and sit down. He comes out with some fresh clothes, a towel, and a blanket.
"Dry off, get changed. I'll wait." He motioned with his head to a bathroom. You walk over to it and see it's marked as male/female. Which meant it was the only one in the store. Business must not have been that good if they didn't have a bathroom for guys, and one for girls. Then again, now that you think about it, the shop isn't all that big. One bathroom might have been all they had room for. You sigh, and open the door. You walk into the bathroom, and shut it behind you. You take off your soaked pajamas, and dry off. Once you've got that done, you put on the dry clothes, and after grabbing the wet ones, the towel, and the blanket, you walk out.
"I'll take your clothes and the towel." He holds out his arms, waiting for you to hand them over. "Relax, I'm just going to put them in the dryer, you can have them back once they're dry." Hearing this you hand them over, and head back to the chair. He walks into the back room, and a few minutes later, after hearing a dryer start, he comes out with two coffee mugs.
"Here you go." He hands you the cup, and you stare down at the drink. "Calm down, I didn't poison it or anything, it's just hot chocolate." Nervous, but not wanting to insult the guy, you take a drink. And sure enough, it's hot chocolate. Whether or not it was poisoned, you couldn't tell. If it was you'd be finding out soon enough you figured.
"Thanks." you say hesitantly.
"No problem." He takes a drink of his beverage, and looks down at it. "Mine's coffee. I can't stand hot chocolate. Drank too much as a kid." You chuckle slightly, and smile at him.
"See, not so hard to relax is it?" He smiles at you, and you take another drink of your hot chocolate, and shake your head.
"Thanks for helping me out with the clothes." You say quietly.
"After saving your life I figured I might as well do that." he replies. You look up at him confused, and he explains.
"I said earlier that what this shop sells sounds kind of crazy, but I'll be the first to tell you, it all works pretty well. I used a few of the things in the shop here to save your butt." He pauses, then continues. "I'm not exactly sure when, but at some point within the last twenty-four hours you came in contact with a vampire. It hypnotized you, and well, it let you go on your merry way until it decided it was hungry. Then it used its hold over you to drag you out of bed, and all the way out here." He took a drink of his coffee.
"You expect me to believe this?" You ask. You're just about ready to get up and leave, and tell him to just keep the clothes.
"I'm not done." He glared at you, and you shut up. "As I was saying," he continued, "you came out here, and met the vampire. It was about to sink its fangs in when I came out and shot at it with a crossbow." He chuckled softly. "Interesting how a centuries old weapon scares the shit out of those things." He paused, taking another drink. "After being shot at, it took off like a bat out of hell." He laughed. While he's sitting there laughing about his little pun, you're wondering just what kind of nut job he is. You're about to say you were leaving, but he stands up, and walks toward the door.
"With the vampire being startled like that and then taking off, you were released from its hold, and you fell over. I went back inside, grabbed a little something I like to call Whisper Weed, and told you to wake up, albeit it may have sounded more like Awaken." As if to confirm his story, he sets a rather strange looking plant in front of you.
"Is this supposed to mean something to me?" you ask. This guy was starting to annoy you. The dryer went off, and he walked to the back room and vanished again. About a minute later he came back with your pajamas and handed them over.
"Here you go. And no, it isn't supposed to mean anything to you. Just felt like showing that to you is all. You can go now, don't worry about changing. I'll pick them at your place tomorrow."
You jump out of your seat, knocking the chair over. "How do you know where I live!?" Okay, it's official, this guy is seriously creeping you out. He sighed, and pointed at your pajamas.
"You had a piece of paper with your name and address in it. Didn't you know about it?" After he explained, you feel like such an idiot. You'd forgotten that you had planned to give that to a co-worker of yours. They were supposed to pick you up for work tomorrow.
"Oh. Sorry about that." you apologize.
"Don't worry, truth be told, I would have done the same thing." He stood up and headed for the door. When he got there, he opened it and motioned for you to leave.
"Go home, get some sleep, and just leave the clothes in your mailbox. I'll pick them up first thing in the morning." You head for the door, and are surprised to see that it isn't raining anymore. You step outside, and look at the street marker. Figuring out where you are, you turn and begin to walk the other way to head home. Before you get very far though, the guy running that shop speaks up.
"See you tomorrow." You shake your head as you're walking away. There wasn't any way you were ever going to see him again if you could help it. Unfortunately fate had another idea in mind.
Codex Gigas is a real life plot based fantasy rp site. We've taken vampires and werewolves, and put our own twist on them. While you are limited to five races for your characters, there are chances to come across dozens of different races as the plot develops. The creator of the site came up with the plot, and the twist on the different races you'll see as time goes on, and the changes to the races are what he's put into a book he's writing. The plot for this site was also based off a possible plot for his book. Codex Gigas is a fun and friendly place, though it is rated M for Mature. What this means is that the site is darker in theme, and if made into a movie, would probably be rated R. While we do not encourage anyone under the age of 16 to join, we will not keep anyone from joining so long as they are at least 13 or older, as many 13 year olds are able to watch rated R movies now. So if you are interested in Codex Gigas, feel free to click the banner at the top, and take a look around. If you decide it's not a good fit, then so be it. If you decide you like it, and you are at least 13, then join. We look forward to having you rp.
