Finally. A world Emi's dark, twisted little soul could enjoy.
Not really digging the costume though. She peered at her reflection in the fountain's green water, reached up and tugged on one of the massively poofy pigtails on her head. Nice mask though, and she always liked horizontal stripes. This rust-orange and red color scheme was no good and she did not like the elf-shoes and miniskirt with jingly bells. She looked like a demonic Christmas elf.
Turning away from the fountain, she took in the quiet night and sighed. Was it bad that she actually felt more comfortable here in this gruesome place than in all the other worlds she'd been to? Definitely said something about her character.
Walking a ways through the Town Square, she stopped every few moments, getting that eerie feeling something was following her. Probably was. Just in case, she withdrew her kali sticks from a case on her hip and kept walking as if there was nothing wrong...

Meglin was not pleased to say the least. In fact, he was down right terrified. This place was not only dark and spooky, but monsters lived here, and were more abundant than moogles were back home. Fortunately for Meglin he had not taken any change in appearance, though one monster who saw him screamed in terror. The creatures that live here must be afraid of cute and cuddly. Good for him to know. But since such was the case, Meglin figured he'd better do something to make him look less "friendly". So he turned away from anyone and synthesized himself a mask. It wasn't scary to him, but at least it wouldn't garner the screams of terror. He hoped not anyway, he just about let loose a cry for help when the last monster shouted in fear, he didn't want to go and get surrounded by monsters doing this.
"That'd probably give poor Meglin a heart attack kupo." He walked quietly over to a fountain, and stuck his head over the edge to see his appearance now. Because of the mask anyone who looked would see a cartoonish skeleton mask. The expression on it was more humorous than scary however, which is why Meglin hadn't dropped it and run.
Just then he heard a slight rumbling coming from the fountain...

Well, it was exciting, to say the least. Jayanne walked with her hands clasped in front of her and her elbows tucked in, a position a bit too tight to be considered prayer, but that wasn't what she was aiming for, anyway. She wrung her hands nervously as she looked around, walking slowly, not wanting anything to take her by surprise.
She'd heard that the folks of Halloween Town were supposedly more into scaring for scare's sake, and not for physical harm. That information had given her confidence enough to come here, but now that she was walking the streets, she was getting nagged with doubts. And really, she didn't feel up for a purely emotional scare, either.
She passed through a gate into what must be the Square. There was a fountain in the center that appeared to have green water flowing through it. She noticed two other moving figures in the area, one human-like, the other, the one on the edge of the fountain, not so much.
Jayanne slowed down even more, hoping the two wouldn't notice her. If they were spooks, she'd be easy game. She had no costume whatsoever. Then, she noticed something about the smaller figure. It appeared to be... but was it?
Curiosity getting the better of her, Jayanne took a discreet path toward the fountain, stepping carefully down a short flight of stone steps and peering at the figure, though keeping her distance in case she was caught staring. Could it be, perhaps, a moogle? Her nerves tingled excitedly. She'd never seen one in person before, and she'd always wanted to.

Perhaps she was being followed. As she turned around slowly, again, she noticed that she had been joined by two other people here in the town square. One, a female who looked to be about her age (Shock! Horror! This town really did know how to scare her). And then another, very small one, peering into the fountain just has she had done a few moments earlier.
Emi smirked when she heard the rumbling. That trick had already gotten her once. She was going to enjoy this.

At first Meglin was too afraid to move when he heard the rumbling. He thought the noise was coming from a monster behind him. But just then water shot up from the fountain, and nearly hit the little moogle. This sudden gushing of water scared the poor thing half to death, and so in a fit of terrified screaming, he turned and ran.
"Aaaaah!"
He didn't get far though, as he collided with another person. And doing so knocked his mask off. He was about to scream some more, when he realized the person he had run into wasn't a monster. In fact, she was surprisingly normal. Suddenly remembering he wasn't wearing his mask he frantically looked around, and grabbed it once he found it. Luckily for him he didn't have to get up and run around to get it, but he hadn't put it back on just yet. He stood up and held out his hand.
"Name's Meglin kupo! What's yours?"
(in case you aren't sure who he ran into and is speaking to, it's Jayanne)

Jayanne flinched badly when the fountain unleashed a gush of water. She was still frozen in place when the little figure screamed and ran in her direction. By the time he actually collided with her, the only reaction she could muster was to take a fourth of a step back.
Then, the frozen feeling melted away when she saw that it was, in fact, a moogle. Not only that, but it was a moogle dressed in what looked to her like a little pirate outfit!
A smile snuck onto her face as she resisted the urge to squeal out loud. It was so cute! However, because it was also a person, just like anybody else, she forced her smile to tone down a bit so she wouldn't come across as weird or impolite.
Once he had picked up his mask and extended a hand to her, she knelt down and accepted the handshake carefully. "Um, Jayanne," she said, turning her smile into a polite one, and then added as an afterthought, "Nice to meet you."

Emi couldn't help but laugh out loud at the poor moogle. She had to admit the little thing was cute, but still it was pretty funny. Emi covered her mouth, the jingly bells on her outfit jingling and giggled. The little moogle ran scared over to the girl her age and they began to converse.
Now, Emi hadn't been around someone her age in who knew how long. Yes, there were a few close, but they were either older or younger by some. She wondered if this girl was more mature than the last. Emi rolled her eyes thinking about the little nosy one from Wonderland, but smiled fondly at the memory of their time together.
She walked over to the group, tentatively. She didn't know what to say. She didn't usually introduce herself like this and it had been a while since she'd had to introduce herself to a person her age. What did teenagers say these days?
"So, uh...hi..." she said, standing behind the little moogle. "I'm Emi."

Meglin just about jumped when Emi introduced herself. But considering the fact that there was this girl facing Emi, and she hadn't gone on the defensive yet, he just let go of her hand and spun around. When he saw the girl, he almost fainted.
"Don't sneak up on poor Meglin like that kupo. Meglin's small, but he can still have a heart attack!" He sighed, it appeared that this wasn't going to be a good place for him to get over his fears of, well, pretty much everything. He took Emi's hand (albeit somewhat forcefully since she hadn't offered it), and shook it.
"My name's Meglin Emi!" He let go of her hand and put his mask back on. He looked at the two, and was going to wait to see how they reacted to each other, but he spoke up first.
"Um, please don't hurt me for interrupting whatever it is you're doing, but..." He paused momentarily. "What exactly are you guys doing here?" He looked down, and his expression quickly changed to show some form of sadness, and perhaps embarrassment.
"Meglin's here to get some courage, kupo."

For the split second gap between Emi's introduction and Meglin's startled reaction, Jayanne thought that the two might have been together, considering that Emi had just shown up at a slightly odd time for someone who wasn't already involved in the little situation. But, once the truth made itself clear, she straightened up from her kneel.
"Uh, I'm Jayanne," she said to Emi with a forced smile and a little wave, feeling awkward for introducing herself twice in a row. She felt even more awkward when she realized that the girl was in costume, and so was Meglin, once he put his mask on. She must have looked really foolish, being in Halloween Town dressed like... she hesitated to think "normal," since the term probably differed from world to world.
When the moogle said he was looking for courage, Jayanne had to fight her smile back again so he wouldn't think she was mocking him, because she really wasn't. Somehow, the comment made him strike her as adorable all over again.
"I'm just sort of here," she said in response to his question. "First time. Thought it would be interesting." She glanced at Emi, but glanced away again. She never knew how to look at people if there was more than one to talk to, especially since they had all just met.

Emi snatched her hand back, grimacing and looking quite uncomfortable.
"I'm here because... well... this is just one more world in between me and my homeworld. Thought I'd do a little travelling before I got there. So you really aren't interrupting me. "
She pulled at one of her jingly bells, peering down at Meglin. She couldn't help but smile. He was adorable, and she was a girl, despite herself. She had encountered moogles before, so they were not strange to her.
"So you said you were looking for courage? Not sure if this is the best place to find it."
Help him out. Atone for your sins. A little moogle like him would never make it here.

(I think I'm liking Jayanne!)
Meglin smiled when he found out he wasn't interrupting anything. He listened carefully as the two spoke what little they had to say. But when Emi said that Halloween Town might not be the best place to find courage, he protested.
"Meglin disagrees kupo. If this spooky, scary place doesn't help me get courage, then what place will help poor Meglin get over his fears?" He sighed. Perhaps it was just too much too soon for Meglin. Kind of a biting off more then you can chew sort of thing. He looked at each of them, a glint of determination in his eyes. Sure he may cry the entire time, and run from every little thing he perceived as scary, but he wasn't going to give up until he was sure he couldn't get any courage here.
Okay so that was probably a lie, but Meglin was still downright determined to at least try. Even if these two girls had to carry him to safety (for challenges such as this often resulted in him fainting), he would still try.
(And this is where I would like to ask for one of the canon crew to play some various Halloween Town canons, mainly Oogie Boogie, and Dr. Finkelstein. This is because I would like for a sort of plot, for Meglin to be trying to acquire bottled courage that the doctor came up with, but Oogie stole.)

Jayanne nodded. "I'll have to agree with that. It's a good point," she said.
On that note, she glanced around, wondering if they were being watched. She didn't see anyone, or anything, else, but there was always the possibility that whoever it was was good at hiding. Again, she reminded herself that they the natives were probably harmless, but on the other hand, people in this world were as diverse as people on any other world. Some harmless pranksters, others ready to bag you and take you somewhere horrible to kill you slowly.
She returned her attention to the two she was conversing with and twisted a shorter layer of her hair.

The moogle proved her wrong. With a nervous, frustrated chuckle, she said "Well, I guess you're right. Ah... you're gonna need some help."
Emi thought hard for a minute, biting her lip. Then she kneeled to Meglin's level. Can't believe I'm doing this but...
"Not sure about Jayanne, but I'm in. Just tell me where you want to go."

Meglin nodded at the two, and grabbed them by the hands. He took them to a rather spooky building. After all, he had heard some of the local monsters talking about a doctor who could make anything. Maybe he knew a way to help the little moogle to acquire courage. He opened the door and walked in.
"Excuse me mister doctor, but can you help me?" He spoke these words before he cried out in terror. Why? For he had seen the doctor picking his brain. And this was quite literally. He dove behind the nearest thing he could use for cover.
"Sally! Sally! Would you do something about that screaming rat!?"
The good doctor put the lid of his skull back in place when he heard the scream. He quickly turned his chair, and just barely managed to see the young moogle duck behind a crate.
"Get away from there, it holds the key ingredients for my next experiment!" He wheeled over to the frightened moogle.
"What are you doing in my lab!?"

Emi kneeled down, picked up Meglin and placed him front of the doctor. "This little guy really needs your help." Kneeling beside the moogle, Emi looked up at Dr. Finkelstein, trying to look as menacing and scary as possible.
