So.
I've brought this up before, but as I'm more directly involved with the canons now, being a Canon Realizer and all, I felt the need to bring it up once more. In my opinion, the list seriously needs some reconsideration. Well… perhaps not serious. But this is also in preparation for Birth By Sleep, when it comes out, as it could very well redefine which characters are major, and which aren’t. And so, we begin.
First, we have the Organization. While I agree with most of them being majors – Axel, Marluxia, Larxene, Roxas... the ones who actually had a reason for being there – some of them honestly don’t deserve to be majors. Namely, Xigbar – who is negotiable, as his ‘Somebody’ apparently plays a rather important role in BBS – Xaldin, Demyx and Luxord. In my opinion, they really had no importance to the story whatsoever. They were there to laugh at Sora, screw with the people of the various worlds, and promptly get their butts kicked. They weren’t involved in massive amounts of betrayal, such as Zexion or Axel, nor were they integral characters in the story, such as Roxas and Xemnas. The games could have very well gone on without them. Therefore, I really don’t think they deserve to be listed as majors. Yes, I understand the whole ‘Organization being popular, make all of them majors to stop people from jumping all over them’ thing. I get that. But really, if canons are in-demand, such as the Organization, the auditions should just be judged a bit more harshly, rather than making them majors. By doing so, it’s very possible that some very talented RP’ers are being screwed out of playing those characters. And while I understand that this is all rather pointless at the moment, what with all of the canons I listed being taken, it could help in the future, should one of the RP’ers leave or whatever. Anyway. Yeah, I don’t quite see how those four in particular are majors.
On to Twilight Town. Namely, Yen Sid. Now, could someone please explain to me how he’s major? He’s powerful, yeah. He’s like… the embodiment of Disney or whatever. Sure. But is it not true that the definition of a major character is one that actually had an important role in the story. Or, by my definition, a character who the story could not exist without. Such as the heroes of the various worlds. If not for them, those worlds would really have no plot. But Yen Sid certainly had no real purpose to the story. All he really did was tell Sora the Nobodies were around, tell him to get some clothes that fit, and sent him on his way. That is, in no way, enough to make him a major. In my opinion, anyway. Not that he matters too much, as it’s highly unlikely that anyone is going to audition for him anytime soon, but I felt that he was worth mentioning. Moving on.
Next we come to Hollow Bastion. Oh jeez. In my opinion, the only people there that deserve to be majors are Leon, Maleficent, Pete, and Diz. Aerith? Heck no. Yuffie? Maybe. The reason I say Leon deserves to be, while the girls don’t, is that he’s pretty much the poster boy for Hollow Bastion. He serves the same role Hercules, for example, does. He’s the hero of Hollow Bastion. Yuffie kind of fits into that position as well, though I don’t think she should be on there either. The story could have survived without her. But I’m willing to look past that, as she did play a kind of important role. Not really, but whatever. Aerith, however, is the one that bugs me. She had about seven speaking lines altogether. Was never in a fight. Was pretty much only there to speak in monotone and teach Sora how to use Cure. Which, once again, is not nearly enough to justify her being a major canon. And certainly, if Cloud, who basically shaped the story of Olympus in KHI isn’t a major, she isn’t. There’s no way that she’s a major.
That’s about it for now, but I’ll certainly be adding to this, should I see anyone else that really doesn’t have the right to be considered a major. XD.

Who exactly said ‘Organization being popular, make all of them majors to stop people from jumping all over them’?

I vaguely recall someone saying it, but I can't remember who. Even still, that's really the only reason I could come up with as to why those particular canons were labeled as majors.

Well I personally attribute it to the simple fact that they are members of the main group of antagonists of the second(CoM) and third(II) games. That seems like a possible reason to me.
There's also the fact that all of the characters in the Heartless Resistance/Restoration Committee literally make up almost the entire main supporting cast of the overall game plots(As opposed to the minor and episodic world plots) in 1 and 2 that run throughout the whole games? You didn't even mention Cid, without whom Sora's Gummi Ship traveling days would have been very short in the first game and no anti-MCP software could have been written. Melrin was also integral to saving Disney Castle in the second. That only leaves Yuffie and Aerith, and despite what you claim about her lines count Aerith actually does more than Yuffie in an actual character/story focus, so it seems like she would be the one who has better leverage than the ninja.
Are you just saying that girls aren't worth major character status, Ryu? SEXIST! D=
Jokes aside, I didn't make the canon list nor am I technically in a position to do anything about it, but I can't help but feel like there's not much real reason to change it. Still, you can always try to convince a staff member. I don't particularly care either way, so good luck with that. ^^

I'm only going to say that the canon list will need evaluation come BBS but NOT for the reasons mentioned by my crew. I'm more concerned with the Somebodies of Nobodies and the rights to play them, along with playing Aqua and company. As there existence adds even more time warping to a post KH2 story than the Org does.
