All light disappeared on The World That Never Was. For a moment, surrounded by a mere shadow of the remaining Heartless kind on the world, hidden deep in that one room, Xemnas found himself forced to think on the difficult thoughts. Philosophy flawed. Revision, then.
Anger and Hatred. Emotional tools used to drive all that is powerful. These fortresses had long been the defining characteristic of the Heartless, and allowed no small amount of control over them.
Kingdom Hearts...
All of his power was not enough. The fuel for the metaphorical fire, the emotions created from long ago by titans long forgotten, incomparable to the heroes from both Light and Darkness' Realm?
Xemnas remained still. Hesitant Heartless, torn between fleeing for a safer realm and tackling the still Nobody commander, did as the deposed did.
Never was there a more unusual moment than this, as Heartless and Nobody stood still near each other in this iconic room that history tomes enjoyed telling tale of to this day.
No.
The Heartless vanished in a wave of dark smoke as the ethereal light resumed from within their low born bodies.
These were not the red blazes of light. Black and red blades of ethereal energy, glowing with a faint yellow pallor, swerved around the imposing figure of the Superior.
No.
The name of this weapon was Infinity. For the duration of Xemnas' coming era. Each of them pirouetted out of each of the chair's ways, felling all Shadows in the room in but seconds
And then a chair fell.
Xemnas' mental tirade averted, the sudden movement noted. Three blades moved, parted the chair in as many places, and allowed it to fall before the Nobody.
Fall it did. Unbidden, Xemnas' eyebrows furrowed. His face became one of interested surprise.
VIII. Axel.
How... poetic.
Xemnas almost felt like chuckling. Were it not for having abandoned the uselessness of the powerless emotions long ago, the Nobody might have allowed it to occur now, in the face of such a sign.
A sign from the universe. An arrow.
The traitor.
Oh, the traitor.
In the name of poetic license, Infinity was allowed to mar the thirteenth's throne as well.
No, indeed.
Without the undue betrayal, Light would have stood on it's own in the grand battle that took place at the verge of reality. Confused and subject to the powerless emotional symbiote that is their care, Light would have fallen.
Nothing, and it's persecution, would have ended then and there.
If Darkness had not risen forth at a traitor's allowance.
The great plan, though flexible, could not stand the improper timing of the Light's showing.
All very well, my liege...
Movement noted. Reaction--
Infinity rose. It surrounded the foreign figure at an unparalleled speed, loped dozily around the Superior's own throne, at the base with the blades of a hundred swords.
Xemnas turned.
To find a dusk?
...with all due respect, my liege, could we... forgo the blades?
Conversely, the blades seemed to grow closer. The Dusk, it's hood thoroughly zipped shut, showed no fear.
Xemnas was no fool to be played with.
"You are no mere Dusk."
No Dusk would dare stand before this supreme being with an attitude as lax as this. Appearance or no, this being had no Nothingness about it.
The Dusk's head turned quizzically to it's side.
True enough. I don't give you enough credit.
Xemnas was unamused. The ethereal blades grew a seeming of hunger for the unknown being, ready to strike.
"Justify your existence, creature... lest I take it from you."
Hmmm... you know, I'm rather of the disposition--
The blades pierced it's facade of a grey cloak easily. The unknown being, whoever it was, was made an unknown body in moments.
Xemnas did not bother to watch. There were more pressing matters to attend to.
It was decided.
The Key, as existing in Sora's being, was to die a third death. The Flurry had already met his fate.
For the future to be assured, a future deigned and designed solely by this deposed Superior, all those who yet hold a Keyblade must fall.
For, as Xemnas exited the fallen castle and laid his eyes upon the wasteland that was his lost world, and Infinity continued it's extermination responsibilities, a new plan began to take shape in the mind of this grey memory of Xehanort.
A plan suited for this mind, this supreme being capable of the utmost hatred, who alone... deserved the power of Kingdom Hearts.
To begin anew!
"Brethren, I call to you in the darkest of times..."
To regain what was unjustly lost!
"Distracted by the interfering Light and Darkness, we have strayed from the Cause...
To attain ultimate power...
"But no more!"
...and remake existence, in favor of those who have lost all.
This is the Nobody Cause.
And so the call rang throughout reality itself. In moments, Hordes of Corridors of Darkness rose... Sorcerers and Dusks summoning themselves back to their destroyed homeland.
Xemnas, arms outstretched for the moon that was not there, greeted them with a look of acknowledgment and expectance.
And so it begins anew.[/blockquote][/size]
[ MAN DID THIS TAKE ME FOREVER. Yes, I totally expect to give up Vexen if this fits the bill. I do hope to salvage his weapon abilities, and regular abilities, though. ]

Audition post (400 words):
A wasteland. A quagmire of rock, concrete, and soot. Pillars stood on edge here, remaining only for the benefits of scholars and anthropologists of a future time.[/b][/i]
In the vain, pointless hope... that this was a place worth remembering.
Under the night sky, this war torn rubble had a pallid grey sheen. No noise did permeate through the fine grey rubble, no moving shapes, no living creature to be found.
And yet.
Darkness was starting to enter this world's fabric of existence. The cloth from which it was wove was turning for the worse, as the Heartless came and foiled it's design like time to an old painting. Testaments to Nobody perseverance and self proclaimed existence were torn down, and remade as rubble hovels.
The primary offenders were the wretched Neoshadows. Long a hindrance to the Nobody call, these Heartless thrived in the absence of their rivals.
Without intervention, from the heroic or malevolent kind, this begotten world would not live.
The Heartless. Beings wrought from the dark void. Not so unlike my own kind, of the empty void... in their endless scavenge across this pale universe for Hearts.
Shadows, of the normal variety, took a fond liking to the underbelly of a very strange room with thirteen oddly shaped pillars. Properly gutted, and quite content above the dusty Nobody icon, many hundreds of Shadows were poking about aimlessly.
But they cannot be allowed to defile this sacred ground, that we who have mourned and pained with our lives to create.
One of the Shadows raised it's head. Bent at a curious angle, it loped a step closer to the center of the room.
Whereupon, with a blur of red steely light, it's head was permanently removed from the body.
It's last sight was the black figure standing still in the room. And about it, bright light of the strangest kind--
It vanished.
And then all hell broke loose.
Before any of the Heartless were to notice the fall of a comrade, a hurricane of red light appeared from Nothingness. Moving with the speed of lightning, bars of glowering power crashed into the fast fading normalcy of the place. Tens-- hundreds-- tens of hundreds of the foreign lights, stripes of hazardous red, simply appeared.
This was not a hurricane.
Simple fools.
This was the simple beauty, the finite elegance, of Nothingness.
And as they moved, seamlessly flowing from one Heartless body to the next, they spared no being of the fate the Superior had long designed for them. Every single nick across the head, all the legs carefully removed before returning to deprive the poorly named Heartless of their enrapturing Hearts...
So stood, amidst the flaring darkness, hundreds of Heartless, typhoon of windborne lit fury, the thirteen stone chairs, and storm of newly freed Hearts, stood the deposed.
Gold eyes, carefully curving in their bronze sockets, looked over the grand orchestration.
This was his power, his right as the castaway husk of the understudy to the great. Under his sway, mountains fell. By his call, armies fell.
The universe's mold remained unchanged by his will.
He allowed a moment's expression.
A gloved fist curled. Anger of the scorned.
A lowering of the copper eyelids. Distaste for the familiar.
The blaze of the righteous red weapons burning brighter. Hatred of the offended.
These were the emotions that led to the greatest of all powers. Tools to be used in the great plan.
The failed plan.
"Kingdom Hearts... oh, how I lament the loss..."
