Audition Post:
Cold. This was probably the only thing that was going through her mind at the moment. That along with a variety of negative feelings. Somehow she had found herself atop a mountain. As to how and why she was here she had no idea. Not the foggiest. A regular occurrence for the fragile young woman. Time and time again she would find herself in a strange world with no idea how she got there. Now she just didn't give it a thought and carried on with her way, drifting from place to place. More than once she had found herself in a...predicament of sorts. Realizing she was now caught in a light shower of snow, the young girl thought it best to find some shelter and make it quick. Her gaze fell upon to what appeared to be some lights below the mountain trails. At first she hesitated, recoiling physically with her right hand clutching at her chest turning away slightly.
"I need to find some shelter...but..." Her thoughts wavered atop the mountain. This only happened on rare occasions but she would find herself in a ruined area in which she believed she had caused. How she arrived to such conclusions was simple. Not scratch was on her. This power, whatever it was, struggled within her causing her to both crave the emotional support of others but also keep away from innocent people in case she lost control again. For a few moments she wavered, her pink cloak wildly flapping in the frosty winds. "I might hurt them...but I need to go..." she finally admitted to herself. Reluctantly she headed down the mountain mentally reassuring herself. "I won't stay long."
A few minutes later she arrived in the settlement. Previously being out in the wild she would have no danger of hurting others. If the conditions weren't so harsh she would have lingered there for a few hours. Nobody seemed to be outside, but noises were coming from each house. Terra didn't know what house to call at. From left to right she examined each red door hoping to find some instinct within to tell her to go. However after a few moments she hesitated once more. Bluntly put she couldn't trust herself. "I should go somewhere else. Away from everyone" she said aloud to herself recoiling physically once again.
"Why do you want to be alone kupo?" a voice called to her right. Her emerald eyes soon lay upon the moogle as a quiet gasp escaped her lips. He had given her quite shock. After composing herself she noticed his pink fur, although discolored due to the neon light from the vendor, it oddly soothed her. Having no idea why this was happening, she felt that this moogle could be trusted...to an extent. "Um...is there anywhere I can stay here for a few hours?" she asked politely in a quiet tone, completely ignoring the question. The moogle cocked what Terra thought was the equivalent to an eyebrow but shrugged it off within seconds.
"No kupo" he replied rather cheerfully. "Oh? Terra reacted with a disheartened look on her face, her eyes lowering to the ground. There was a few seconds of awkward silence. However this was broken to a rather acrobatic maneuver from the Moogle. Flipping into the air it performed a full twist landing right next to Terra in which she took a step back from it letting out a much louder gasp than previous. "But I have a room for rent in the Inn kupo. I can give it to you if you buy some stuff?" At first Terra showed what may have been the beginning of a smile but that soon turned into her usual emotionless 'look' about her. "But...I don't have any munny..." she said in response with an even less enthusiastic tone than before.
Again there was an awkward silence between the two. Folding its arm it mumbled something to its self before doing another one of its flips. "That dagger looks pretty kupo. I'll let you have my room for it..." the moogle proposed. A look of disbelief and then an upset expression formed on her face. "Sorry...but this was a friends. Um, never mind" she replied at first with a sense of determination about her voice before breaking away from the Moogle heading towards the other end of the village. It was starting to get really cold now and Terra could feel it, although she wasn't shaking for some reason. As she walked off the Moogle stood there, letting out a sigh he ran after her as fast as his little legs could carry him. "Wait kupo!" he cried.
This was unexpected to Terra. Turning on her heel to see what was afoot, she felt a sense of relief come over her as she saw the pink Moogle heading towards her. It felt...good to be with the moogle. For some reason he took away all her fears and doubts within herself. All those insecurities seem to cower at the bellow of his high pitched voice. "Is something the matter?" she asked politely with a generally concerned look on her face. "You...can...have...my...room...ku...po" he said catching his breath. Although it wasn't a long distance for any normal sized human, it must have been at least five times in distance for a moogle. "Poor thing" she thought as she reached out her hands to steady him. He looked as if he was about to fall over at any second.
"Are you sure?" she asked now crouched down looking the fluffy creature right in the eyes. She was generally happy about this and was grateful for the Moogle. More so because it was her, the one who couldn't even trust herself never mind anyone else. So much in fact she was naive to the dangers of the world and how easily she could ( and had been ) manipulated. He gave a confirming nod with his pom pom bobbing around on his head. The snow had died down a bit more but flakes still clung to his fur. "Thank you...so much. If there is anyway I can repay you..." she said with a sincere aura about her words. "No no, kupo. Don't be silly. But you can tell me your name kupo. I'm Monty. The best Mogster this side of the Land of Dragons...kupo" he said in a awkward manner that Terra found amusing. Perhaps it was the cute fluffiness about him.
She smiled and giggled as she rose to her feet, touching her face appearing all 'lady-like'. "My name is Terra" she said coolly with a cheery smile on her face. "Well Terra, kupo. I'm hungry. Do you want to get something to eat kupo? he asked with his little mouth forming a friendly smile. Finally. Someone she could trust. It was the few moments like these that gave Terra her strength. The will to carry on in her uncertain quest of self discovery. She had to find out who she was, and why she had such destructive powers. With a sweet, happy smile she cheerfully replied "That would be wonderful" and the pair of them walked off. As they were walking and Monty was talking something about sale prices of Ethers, Terra temporarily ignored him as her own voice filled her head. "Today is going to be a good day..." in which her happy smile only deepened. And that day was a good day, full of laughter and comfort. Something that Terra would need to keep her going.
Edit: Just changed the title name as everyone seems to be assuming ( and have a good reason to do so ) this is an audition for Terra from Birth By Sleep. However...its the Terra from FFVI.

Hmmm, Terra's always been something of a toughie for me in regards to her characterization. I'm never too sure what exactly she is. I've seen her believably characterized as impish, cheerful, sullen, moody, impartial, maternal, mechanical and a small spectrum of in-betweens.
Nevertheless! The most believable for me has always been a hesitant otherworldliness. Not quite crystalized innocence but something vaguely like that: a stranger in a strange land that's fundamentally trying her best to be a good person - but on her own terms and in her own way. I think you've captured that. I know the usual writing maxim is 'show don't tell,' but what is meant by that is that you're showing will do some telling for you. I don't quite get that feeling here - there isn't really any significant to her conversation with Monty which is the main reason you'd want to bring a secondary character.
Still, it's definitely an acceptable effort! And Kefka's still cackling madly at the back of my head somewhere so I might be a bit biased (and giving a harsher critique than usual for a character that doesn't show up in the KH games at all) when I say:
1/2 accepted!
Good luck with your next CC or C-mod!
