Irvine was walking about in the Marketplace today. He didn't really have anything better to do, so he figured he might as well check out the town, see how the reconstruction was going. That and well, he'd seen some pretty attractive ladies headed this way.
He tried one of his best pickup lines, and it was working, right up until another girl came into the scene. She told her friends to come with her, and they left the marksman all alone.
"I didn't even get her number..."
And he would've definitely called her.

It seemed impossible for a single day to go by in Ava's life without her seeing random guys, who certainly seemed to have no idea at all how to approach a girl, hitting on poor, innocent young women, who probably had much better things to do with their lives than bat away nasty, over-eager guys all day. And though she had come to Radiant Garden in the hopes of just relaxing for a little while, the ever-present issue of attention-seeking boys followed her. She happened to see some sorry excuse for a cowboy attempt to hit on some young thing who, Ava realized, could do so much better. Luckily for the girl, a friend of hers seemed to have come to save her, but the telepathic mistress felt that she could not just stand there and watch such atrocities. So, high-heeled boots carrying her across the roads towards the stationary man, she flipped her hair out of the way, her finger jabbing a bit more forcefully than she had intended at his shoulder.
"Though I hardly think I need to ask, since you boys only ever have your minds on one thing, you mind telling me why you felt the need to bother that poor girl like that? Because honey, she is way out of your league." Her hand coming to a rest on her hip in a way that was obviously daring him to just try something with her, she raised an eyebrow, waiting for his response. She could only hope that he had a good explanation. After all, she didn't want to have to punch some arrogant little jerk in the face without a good reason to.
( Boo, bad post on my part. )

Irvine had sighed when the girl had left, though she did look back at him as she left. To him that meant all he had to do was find her again and he might have a shot. But before he could take off after her, he was questioned by a woman he'd never seen around before. And while she was not the most beautiful woman he'd seen, she was better than a good portion of them.
"I wasn't bothering her, I was trying to get her to go out with me." He replied.
"I need to have some sort of life, after all, I spend most of my time fighting off Heartless and helping with the reconstruction efforts for Leon." It then registered that she had said she was out of his league.
"And if she was out of my league why did she look back when she was walking away?" He questioned. "Maybe some girls like the ol' cowboy charm. Or maybe it's the fact that I'm something of a marksman..." He always got confused on that part. Some girls loved his outfit, and would occasionally agree to go out with him because of it, while others only agreed to do so because of the fact that he claimed he was a great sniper. Which was without a doubt, the truth. He shrugged. He'd find that girl later.
"My name's Irvine. Irvine Kinneas. What's yours?"

"Whoa there, cowboy. Trying to get her to go out with you is pretty much the same as bothering her, if her friend her to come and save her." She stated with the slightest of smirks, only to have the smirk be replaced by a bit of a frown at his talk of fighting off Heartless. Being the type of person she was, she really didn't enjoy hearing of the creatures being spoken of as though they were just annoying pests, but she didn't respond, knowing full well that he probably would not understand where he was coming from. Listening without much interest as the man went on and on about how the girls loved him so, Ava breathed a quiet sigh of relief when he finally shut up.
"Cut the 'I love myself' thing, will you? I get it, you're a ladies' man. Whatever helps you sleep at night, kid." Nodding to indicate that she had registered his name, but didn't actually care enough to shake his hand, she offered up a bit of an exasperated smile. "Ava. Nice to meet you, I suppose. It'd be nicer if you stopped fawning over yourself, but you know. You can't always get what you want."

Irvine just about protested when she said that girl's friend came and saved her. She wasn't in any trouble! After all if most girls needed saving it was from Heartless or Nobodies, not him. Girls knew damn well that smacking Irvine or threatening to hit him would get him to scamper off like some frightened puppy. But when she told him to cut the 'I love myself thing' he did protest.
"I'm not in love with myself! Most of the girls I've had a shot with liked those things, so I was just trying to figure out which one she liked! It never hurts to know what your best assets are!" He grunted, and folded his arms. When she told him her name he merely nodded. It was right about this time he heard a scream, which was followed quickly by a cry for help. He recognized that voice! It was the very girl he had just been flirting with only minutes ago. He quickly drew his gun, and ran toward the source of the scream.
"I'll show you why I'm called the best shooter in all of Radiant Garden!" He laughed. Sure on the outside he may have appeared to have been joking, but the fact of the matter was, that he was hoping like hell that she'd be okay until he got there, and took care of the Heartless, or Nobodies that threatened her. He just hoped Ava wouldn't do something stupid...

"Oh ho. No need to get all defensive there, cowboy." Ava retorted with a smirk, raising an eyebrow at his mini-rant. Rolling her eyes at his sudden bout of pouting - which was really sad, actually. How old was he? - their entire conversation was cut short by a scream. That alone was bad enough, as screams were generally associated with Heartless, and Heartless attacking generally led to the creatures getting killed, but when the cowboy brandished a gun and started running off towards the source of the screams, laughing about how he was the 'best' at something or other, she knew she had to do something.
"I really don't want to have to do this..." She muttered to herself, breathing a silent prayer, asking for forgiveness to atone for the crime she was about to commit. Gunblade in one hand, and a shotgun in the other, she followed the punk-turned-ally, ready to save whoever it was that was screaming blue bloody murder.
"Hey cowboy! Wait up!"
