"Now let's see what sorry excuse for a hero I can dig up today shall we?" Hades had tried many times in the past to use the souls of the dead to fight Wonderboy, but for whatever reason they all seemed to fail him. Sure Cloud wasn't exactly dead to begin with, but he had what it took! And Hades had the skills to give him what he wanted. But then that brat Sora had to step in and ruin everything. Hades counted his losses, and tried to beat Hercules himself. When that didn't pan out he released the Titans to do the deed. Sora made sure that failed. Then there was the more recent events involving Auron. That jerk didn't even deserve to be called a hero, yet he had the audacity to refuse Hades' deal, and then attack him. HIM! He was the Lord of the Underworld, and he was not the kind of guy who took no for an answer. Long story short, he failed once more. Which brought him to now.
"Ladies and gentlemen, ghosts and ghouls, please give a nice round of applause for... He fired off a couple of fireballs into the reservoir he kept in his chambers, which caused a slight explosion. Soon a figure began to float out of it, and Hades sneered.
"Oh yeah, this one will do just fine." he thought. The smoke clouding the figure dispersed, and revealed someone Hades knew would be more cooperative than the last ones. Why? Well this guy wasn't exactly a hero. He tried, but when it came down to it, he was a better villain than anything else.
"Angeal!" He clasped his hands together, and shook them back and forth on both sides of his head, as if he was cheering. He snapped his fingers, and Angeal's Buster sword appeared.
"You might want that for what your about to do." Hades said.
"What makes you think I'm going to work for a monster like you?" Angeal replied.
Hades laughed at that remark. They all said that before, and they all at some point or another did end up working for Hades, even if it wasn't by choice.
"Listen Angel boy, if you want your freedom, your life, then you'll do as I say GOT IT!?" His temper had just gotten the best of him, and his body reflected that. He huffed and puffed angrily for a few moments, and then returned to normal.
"If you don't I'll turn you into that monster you seem to fear being so much. Do as I say and badda bing badda boom, you'll be normal, courtesy of one grateful Lord of the Dead."
"What do I have to do?" Angeal replied. As much as he didn't want to work for the guy, Hades was making an offer he was having a hard time refusing. And even if he did, he had no doubt that Hades had some sort of trick that would force Angeal to do what Hades wanted.
"Ah ah ah, there's just one little thing you have to do before I tell you what I want you to do for me." He snapped his fingers, and a contract appeared.
"What's this?"
"It's a contract Soldier boy. Just sign it, the details aren't important."
"If I sign it and do as you ask, you'll keep up your end of the deal?"
"Of course, the contract says you have to do what I say, and in return I have to clip those wings of yours. But like I said, who needs details?"
Angeal signed the contract and crossed his arms. Hades snapped his fingers and the contract vanished.
"Good, now that we have that little annoyance out of the way, let's cut to the chase shall we." He floated over to Angeal and put his arm around him.
"I want you my friend to fight someone to the death in my arena, the Underdrome. Now before you complain, that's all you'll have to do." Angeal looked away at this request. Hades knew that he had to work fast, so he decided to sweeten the deal.
"A little something you should know about your opponent is that he's a demi-god. Literally. He's the son of Zeus, and has super strength. He'll be a tough fight, even for you. But I'll tell you what. Since I can see your hesitation to fight, I'll throw in the freedom of a friend of yours. What was his name? Zack wasn't it?" Angeal looked at Hades, and although he obviously didn't like what he was hearing, he nodded.
"Good. Now don't go around saying Hades doesn't do anything nice for people. I had you sign a contract which would have forced you to fight Herc the Jerk anyway, but I'm feeling generous today. Now I suggest you go find somewhere secluded and practice for a while." Angeal left.
"PAIN! PANIC! GET IN HERE NOW!" Hades' two minions came running in, and tripped over each other in their rush to find out what their master wanted.
"Note to self, find better minions later."
"Yes boss?" the two asked in unison once they managed to get up.
"Panic, I want you to go get the Underdrome ready."
"Okay boss!" He saluted and took off.
"And Pain. I want you to go keep that fallen angel of ours company. Escort him to the Underdrome when it's ready. If anyone tries to talk him out of it, stop them. Use Heartless if you have to. I've come too far this time to just let everything blow up in my face now." Pain nodded, and took off toward where Angeal was training.
Hades hadn't been lying when he said he had come a long way. Months of planning and preparation had led up to this moment. And this time, Hercules was going to meet his match, in the form of a monster unlike any he had ever seen. He only hoped that Angeal was ready to seek penance for his mistakes.
