Demyx carefully threaded his way through the streets and crowds of Traverse Town, heading for a small cafe that was located in an out-of-the-way corner.
His reason for going? A Nobody had delivered him a message telling him to go there. To be precise, a Sorcerer Nobody. And there was only one guy the Sorcerers listened to: Xemnas.
Sitting down at a table, he ordered a bottle of water, and waited.

And he wasn't kept waiting long. After a few moments, Xemnas walked in, ordering nothing and sitting across from the Melodious Nocturne. Sitting there, Xemnas was silent for a long period of time, to the point where Demyx almost spoke, if not for the stare that Xemnas held the Nocturne with.
All of a sudden, Xemnas broke the gaze and spoke. "It is good to see that you have fared well, IX." Calling him by his number, Xemnas shifted from his rigid position into a much less threatening one. "What have you been up to in the days of my...absence?"

Demyx flinched slightly as the ex-Superior began talking, but managed more than not to keep his composure.
As the question came up, he took a quick drink, and said, "Not much, I've just been doing the same things I used to."
To an outsider, it would sound like an employee having a conversation with his ex-boss, and in one way, it was. In another, it was a luckless guy talking with the guy who could skewer him if he so wanted.
"We've been doing the same thing, just under a different boss."

Xemnas nearly felt emotion. He remembered one distinctly, one that he hadn't felt since Kingdom Hearts...rage. Pure, unbridled fury. He remembered what it felt like to be angry, irrational though it may have been. "And who, precisely, is this different boss?" he asked, a pleasant smile on his face, but his intentions were clear to the Nocturne.
Of course, Xemnas knew exactly who it was who took his Organization from him. "Is it Marluxia, perhaps?" He remembered the keyblade wielder taking that traitor out for him. Ah, if he has taken my Organization, that means Larxene is with him. I will have to make examples out of them.

Demyx leaned back in his chair as Xemnas began questioning him, trying to put more distance between him and the very powerful Nobody.
"Ah, I don't think I'm really supposed to be telling you anything like that. You aren't really the boss anymore." The blond said this, but then continued, "but between you and me, yeah, Number XI is the one who's taken the reins on the Organization. A few of us haven't really gotten on board though. I know he stuck Vexen in a cage somewhere, and Lexaeus is off somewhere else."
He really shouldn't have been telling Xemnas this, he knew that. But...some loyalties were more pressing than others, and for him, one boss was as good as another, as long as they didn't work him too hard!

Xemnas nodded, leaning back slightly. He was confirmed in his belief, and was glad for cowards. Especially this coward. So, he doesn't know where Lexaeus is... But something stuck. Vexen...in a cage? "He has Vexen in a cage? Where is this cage?"
Xemnas couldn't allow Marluxia to ruin his Organization any longer. And it WAS his Organization, regardless of who thought they could take it from him. So long as he retained nonexistence, Organization XIII would be his. "Why would he lock Vexen in a cage? What did Vexen do?"

Demyx shrugged at Xemnas' next question, before saying, "I couldn't tell you. I'm not sure why, but I do know he's in Castle Oblivion. Somewhere. I've heard a few things about why, but my thought is that he didn't like Marly taking over, and had some things to say about it. And then he got locked up." At this point, the Nobody gave a big, theatrical shrug, "But I didn't really investigate or anything. Not my problem, Vexen isn't."
Demyx was getting ready to go pretty soon. It would be bad with a capital B if he got found here. He'd just have to find a way to get moving.

Nodding again, slower than last, Xemnas mulled it over. Yes...yes...this will work very nicely, very nicely indeed. "Demyx...I thank you for informing me of the current situation. But," a frown appeared on the Superior's face, "I am afraid that information is not enough for me.
"I will be traveling to Castle Oblivion, to rescue Vexen. I ask you to accompany me, and to help me release number IV from his current state of captivity." One look at Xemnas, and Demyx would realize that he was not truly asking. He was telling Demyx that they were going to go and rescue Vexen, regardless of what the Nocturne wanted to do.

Demyx facefaulted at this new turn of events. Like, nearly fell out of his chair facefault.
"W-what!? Are you serious?" Of course he was serious, the Superior had no sense of humor. Of course, neither did he, but that was besides the point.
And it was obvious he wasn't really asking. He was telling, and the price for refusal was a laser beam to the head.
"Right, gotcha Superior. Just lead the way then..."
This last part was muttered, but still somewhat enthusiastic.

Xemnas stood, walking out of the room and moved to the doorway. As Demyx followed him, walked a little bit away from the building, somewhere where he wouldn't be seen opening a corridor of darkness. It wasn't that he was worried that moved him, but sheer practicality. After all, he might have to return to this world one day.
Opening a corridor, Xemnas motioned to Demyx. The Nocturne would go first, because the Superior knew how cowardly IX could be. And not only cowardly, but lazy as well. Not good qualities in an Organization member, but he was good for a few things, at least. "After you, IX."

"...Right. Gotcha boss." With those few words, Demyx walked past Xemnas and into the corridor. He was gonna go through hell for this, he was sure.
But then again, he was already working with a kind of devil, that was for sure.
'Well, no use sweating the stuff that's happened. Just gotta stay alive now.'
Thus were the Nobody's thoughts as he moved on his next, really unwanted mission.
