They called him a King. They worshiped him, they lavished him and they feared him.
In truth, he was little better than a slave.
For thousands of years he ruled and during that time, he grew evermore weary; evermore angry. Men did not change, no matter how long they had to learn their lessons. Divisions were made time and time again, wars were waged over petty differences and blood spilled heedlessly. And always, always since the beginning, he was the one who had to crush those divisions, kill those people and reunite his kingdom...Only to have new divisions made the next century. What happens to a King who loses all faith in his people?
Then again, there was her. She was there when he needed a shoulder and she was the only one who did not rely on him. His only equal...or better. But she hated him, hated him for his kindness that would not give up on the good of mortal men. I cannot abandon my kingdom, he says. You're a damn arrogant fool, she says.
In the end, whose life will weigh more? The millions of people who revere and fear him or the one woman who truly loved him?
Right. So lets try my hand at a personal plot, shall we?
Basically, this will entail some TIME TRAVELING! Back thousands of years in fact, to the beginnings of an empire so great it spanned several worlds. An empire no longer there.
Had you the chance to redo your past, what would you do differently?
Don't worry about rules aside from the Forum standard. I'll make them up on the way.

Hmm... now this is a bit different. Is this going to be a kind of contest-quest hybrid of some sort? Either way, count me in. I'm interested to see what direction this event will take.

The contest in the title is actually just to show it's for the contest Iris proposed. This is a character plot. Not quite like a quest, but I suppose I will be playing third parties/foes as well.
I believe 3 was the minimum number of participation required. Therefore, it ought start soon enough.

"...Y-You...You ignorant peasants can never understand what it means to be a King," Alexis breathed, ragged and wounded as he was, he dragged himself to his feet using the grandiose white door as support and proclaimed aloud. "Just sit in your mud homes content with your little lives!...I have an empire to destroy," He spoke with such wanton courage, such bravado, that one could be forgiven for forgetting his heavily injured state.
Blood trickled down from the edge of his mouth before it came splurging out in a wave mixed with vomit. His body was telling him to lie down; moving would only bring him closer to death. But he refused. He refused stubbornly. Trying desperately to retain some semblance of dignity amidst the blood and vomit, Alexis finally brought himself to full height and glowered.
With the large ivory door at his back and what lied beyond it exactly what he sought, Alexis could not afford to give up now; not when he was so close to his ambition for the last thousands of years. To end all of the regret he had to feel, the sins he had to bear. He would not be stopped now; whatever the consequences, he was willing to risk them for this one chance. He slowly raised his right arm, the broken bones almost refusing to obey him, and held out a palm. Instantly, a crimson magic circle formed before him, still as menacing as ever; threatening to unleash too absolute a destruction. Alexis' eyes hardened and his voice carried a sheer hatred and border hysteria thought impossible for someone as calm and precise as him.
"I'll say it once more; leave and do not look back or I will have you disappear," His eyes showed no hesitation; even if he was fond of these people, they were in his way. A few weeks friendship weighed for nothing against an ancient duty several thousand years old. If they continued to ignore his warnings, he could no longer show them mercy.
Since I may not be online tomorrow, this is what I was going to post had Disney Castle not have its Post Disabled xD
Be careful when posting a reply. As you can see, this is a preview that so often happens in Movies before a flashback to show the steps that led to it are shown. Therefore, do not post anything too EXPLICIT or DEFINITIVE or we might find ourselves with a few plot holes. This is under the assumption that the your characters have become reasonable friends with Alexis after their 'quest' together.
Also, a second word of warning. I consider this canonical, so any deaths incurred stay incurred. I never liked the revive in the Underworld horsesh1t, spoils the emotional meaning of dying, but hey, I suppose it gives some cold comfort.

Regarding the deaths... that's REALLY something you should have mentioned up front. Still, I can respect your take on that, as long as it won't be an out-of-the-blue "oh hey, your character gets to die now" kind of thing. I'm guessing this is your way of saying that we should bring characters who know how to defend themselves, right?
Oh, and interesting preview! Sounds like you've got some big stuff planned for this.

You won't die unless you're a moron. "Hey, Alexis is shooting off some pretty fireworks? YAY CAN I TOUCH IT?!" I don't think I have the power to make you die at my leisure =/ What I meant is, it's just like a canonical thread, it's not some random alternate reality situation that your character can pretend never happened at a later date.
There's always the chance of death in anything not run by Iris xD

Oh hush!
Besides..what about the no death rule? Are you announcing that death is allowed in this thing and alerting those who want to join? Cause that's fine if you do that, as long as people know the rule of off and make an agreement that they will die if stupid. xD

I think you meant for your link to work like this, yes? The Forever King x PrologueThe Forever King x Prologue So... how are we supposed to start? It seems like we're being dropped in at the story's end and supposed to retroactively infer that which took place previously AKA hasn't been RPed yet. Are you going to flashback to when it all began, or do you need us to fill in some of what's taking place first?

I think what we do is decide how our characters are going to react to him trying to get to the cornerstone now.
When we flashback we do character buildup, and then when we reach back to the point that we started at we get to see the climactic end, no?
Example: Lysander shouts at Alexis to stop, and that he has no idea what he's doing. OH NO FLASHBACK! Lysander makes friends with Alexis OH NO WE'RE BACK AT THE POINT WE STARTED AT! Lysander shouts at Alexis to stop, and that he has no idea what he's doing. Alexis kills Lysander in a fit of blind passion. OH NO THE END!
That's how it goes, yes?
EDIT: I have a few questions of my own. 1. How does this weird time travel stuff tie into characters that have already played at present day? I don’t need anything too specific, but what I want to know is this: Were the characters pulled back in time, or were they simply there as it happened? 2. Can Lysander use his guns or no? Either way is fine, I just want to fit the feel of the RP.

I've been away from proboards too long. Yes, everybody follow Nascent's link.
Example: Lysander shouts at Alexis to stop, and that he has no idea what he's doing. OH NO FLASHBACK! Lysander makes friends with Alexis AND they go on the quest to stop ANOTHER villain from reaching the OH NO WE'RE BACK AT THE POINT WE STARTED AT! Lysander shouts at Alexis to stop, and that he has no idea what he's doing. Alexis kills Lysander in a fit of blind passion because he's secretly bearing Lysander's love child. OH NO TIME WARP F&%K (Where they are should make it quite obvious how this happens) Lysander, if he survived, is plopped THOUSANDS of years in the past during the era of an immortal King. More personal stuff for Alexis happens from here.
Look above to one of my previous posts, it explained the need to not be explicit with this first post lest we be trapped in loop holes.
1. I think I might've answered that. 2. Of course. Actually, he shan't be too out of place at all.
Feel free to ask if you don't understand something. Unlike the Wonderland quest, I haven't planned quite as thoroughly.

Bravo, my actors! Bravo! That turned out better than I expected, no joke.
Alright, after the prologue, we will go back to the events leading UP to the prologue (The climax).
It will begin in London (Neverland) where an army of empty suits of armor who bear an eerie familiarity to many of the people who encounter them have invaded, holocaust style, and pretty much thrown the whole city into anarchy (We start like, a few hours after they had invaded). Though they are pretty much going on a killing spree, those with even a hint of magical talent will have been captured instead of killed for whatever reason.
~ Akane and Lysander will have been captured already. They will be imprisoned somewhere. The two of you have a mission; you will need to write something convincing and creative enough for me to let you escape. Or else you'll have to sit quietly as you get rescued and that's not fun, eh? Once you are free, it might be best to try and meet up with Iris and Magus.
~ Iris will have lost Alexis (An hour ago?) in the chaos (Hordes of people running away to escape, bodies littering the ground; the usual). I've discussed some finer details with Iris, but basically, she'll bump into Magus (Who's trying to raise a resistance against the invading army? Unsuccessfully, of course). She pleads to him to help her find Alexis (He can agree or disagree, your choice, Nas). Alexis, not taking the situation seriously enough, for some reason has left clues as to his whereabouts. Find him and the plot advances.
There's also a little drama I'd like to incorporate. So don't be afraid to add a bit of romance, yeah?
