Walking on a fragment of a world of sand, Iryoku had to admit that this wasn't exactly the best place to wind up. Sipping some water from a small canteen, he looked out upon the fragments and remains of countless worlds, it was absolutely cleat that appeared in an absolutely strange corner of the universe. The wasteland of shattered planets stretched for miles on end, and if one looked very closely...the shadows shifted and contorted under a sunless sky.
Yep. This was not my best use of Spatial Displacement Magic...
It actually was a good test, considering he hadn't warped into the vacuum of space. It explained why the magic array had to be so big for long range displacement- the array calculated landing coordinates, making sure that over the long distances the distance was as exact as it needed to be. Too much distance, and you'd be underground, and too little...well, in Iryoku's case it was a 20 foot fall. Very lucky, considering if it had been inverted he'd be very screwed. I haven't even learned an earth-element spell...I should try and come up with something, he thought, the thought of burying himself alive quite vivid on his mind.
Suddenly the shadows shifted around him, and rose up into humanoid forms, deformed and doll-like in presentation. "Tch...well, I guess they finally got wind of me," Iryoku muttered, summoning Rune Soul into hand. They were already here before he was, and must be natural residents of this place...if this place could really be called a place. Letting his Oversoul activate, he looked around at the Shadow Heartless that swarmed- about 15 of them, all fairly weak. This should be quick.
Sprinting forward, Iryoku charged into the largest concentration of shadows.

Eve appear out of a portal of darkness, streching her limbs.
Another heart, another meal for me. Now lets what should I do now. Hm? Eve could tell that some of the low purebloods were acting up again but that didn't surprise considering that anything could bring them up. It was the anything that caught her attention. A heart, and a fairly good one. Eve never knew how long it has been since she had one. Eve licked her lips and made a small smirk. Let's hope those little pureblood, don't take my meal before me. And in a slow stride Eve made way to the source.

Seeing a single Shadow leap forward to strike, Iryoku kicked out and slid below, pointing Rune Soul at it's center and fired a single shard of electric blue, piercing it in the chest and dispelling it's personal darkness. Pushing himself upright, he pointed and fired a volley of shards at the heartless to his left, catching another in the chest with it's edge. Overall, six down in that one motion. Not too shabby, for first starting out. Facing the rest of the shadows, he noticed some ducking to ground and come crawling forward, others hobbling over. Persistent, he thought to himself as her weaved forward, ducking and slicing through their numbers, taking four more out feeling another sensation.
Bloodlust. A strong one, with will behind it.
Well things just got hell'a lot more complicated, he thought as he slipped his hand through the enclosed guard of Rune Soul, kicking the edge and using small movements to begin to twirl it around his wrist. Noting the shadows rise up around him and pounce, he leaned back and held the spinning blade horizontally, before letting the shards fly out all around him, catching and dispelling the remaining Shadows in the spray. Standing upright, he let Rune Soul continue to spin as he faced his new adversary- A woman in goth garb, with glowing yellow eyes.
"You know, why does it have to be that I get such terrible welcomes when I make random jumps? Can't I land on a island world full of lovely Amazons for a change?" he asked nonchalantly, well aware of the fact that he was covered in his electric-blue Over-Soul. "I mean, while you are charming, that fact that you seem intent on sampling the my heart is a little bit of a turn off," he added, flipping Rune Soul into the air before catching in his right hand. "Feel free to walk away whenever you desire- I don't plan on disrupting your little corner of the universe longer than needed," he ended, pointing Rune Soul at the Heartless in human skin.
I'm gonna deserve a hell'a nap after this...
"Oh, by the way, do I just smell that tasty? You look like you really want me." The severity of the situation, no mater how dire, failed to warrant the lack of pot-shots.

Eve just smirks and summons Forgotten. As she slips her finger through the ring on Forgotten, she spins it as she moves around her to-be victim. Terrible... the only reason you've had a terrible welcome is because of these pureblood. If it was me, I'd give you a better time. Of course, it'd be much more pleasurable. She stops spinning Forgotten, grabbing it in her palm she crushes it in her palm causing it to burst into black feathers that start floating all over place. She then pulls Corrupt out of a portal of darkness. She points it at her to-be victim then in a quick movement produces six Corrupt copies. Believe me you are very much a turn on my to-be meal.

"...well Gothie, I'm sad to say that the feeling is not mutual," he noted aloud as he stared at her elaborate feather and sword set-up. Seven blades against his one? Pretty good odds, all things considered. Still...the feathers weren't for show- they were up to something. "I mean, in all seriousness, I enjoy the fact that I know where my heart is. Having it removed would be quite troublesome."
Resting Rune Soul on his shoulder, he eyes the floating assortment of weapons the Heartless summoned, as well as the feathers floating all around the battlefield. Theatrics aside, those serve some purpose. Some sort of attack? Or maybe a defense array...either way, best to force her out of their range. Looking back at the woman, he shrugged before settling into a balanced stance. "Well, before you try and strip me of my clothes, skin, and possibly bones, I must let you know that I don't like removing my clothes. They will have to remain on for the duration of my stay, now...you're it."
And with that he bolted, sprinting to his left and pointing Rune Soul at his foe, firing a volley of electric blue energy shards her way as he aimed to clear himself from the feathers.

As soon as her meal moved she moved in the same direction as him. Troublesome... I don't try to make it painful. It's just that my meals aren't really that into pain. So tell me do you like pain?
Corrupt began to glow a dark aura, Eve swung her blade letting all the copies pile end to end to the full reach.
Because OUR FUN is just beginning, my love.

Why is it always the crazy ones that are after me? Innocent Stalker Types I can dig, but plain homicidal is just wrong, Iryoku sulked to himself as he made a beeline for the edge of the feathers, with his new "girlfriend" in tow. She was pretty good to pick up on his actions, and was fast in pursuit- and with the new way her weapons were arranged, she seemed intent on her end of the bargain. "Crud crud crud crud," he muttered, more out of habit than anything, making for the most cluttered gathering of world fragments he could find.
"You know, you really don't have to do all of this," he called out behind him at is assailant. "I really have better things to do than to be your main course, so please don't be offended when I say keep your damn hands to yourself." With that, he hopped into the air and pointed Rune Soul at the Heartless, firing a quick 3-burst of energy shards at her. Landing deftly, he slid backwards, stabbing rune Soul into the ground to quickly brake his momentum. Readying himself, he channeled a fraction of his Over-Soul into his left hand, readying a spell. "Because in all seriousness, I don't like contact and I have claws just for folks like you!" he added, holding out his hand when she got close and unleashed a torrent of electric blue lighting at her.

As soon as the spell ended he ducked to the right, moving into a small cluster of world fragments. "Oh, and by the way, I lied- I really did mean to offend you," he called out as he leaned against a boulder. Readying Rune Soul, he waited patiently for the counter attack.

The copies moved back to her left shoulder as the 3 bursts of energy came at her. Moving with ease she dodged them, just side jump out of the way of the lightening. Unfortunately an arc of it jumped her blade going through to her arm. When she landed she too, was hiding behind fragments of world and was rubbing the tingling arm.
Eve just laughed, saying out loud. You really do know how to make a girl jump for you. I'm getting tinglely just thinking about what I'll do to you. But you know, you're pretty special. What's your name, just so I can but a name to the meal?

"Are you sure it isn't the lightning that's causing that sensation? Was supposed to paralyze you with that last spell."
Crouching down, Iryoku listened to the woman's words intently, running the options in his head. "As for my name...you can call me 'the Drifter.' Most of people I've encountered call me by that, at any rate. Besides, with your attitude, I figured you were into anonymity," he commented aloud, letting his Over-Soul flicker and die around him before slipping into the shadows of nearby ruins. "Now, fair's fair- I want something to call you by. Calling you 'heartless' or 'woman' wouldn't really be respectful to the person you once were."
Despite his tone up until then, Iryoku's words were surprisingly sincere. Maybe it was the fact that 4 years ago his identity consisted of 5 numbers. Sighing to himself, he gripped Rune Soul in both hands, moving swiftly through the remains of this particular world. "Have you ever stopped to think about what you're doing to yourself, festering in your darkness? Your "heart" must be weeping for you right now, for having gotten so out of touch..."
Man, I really need to cut this pity party crud out...it's gonna get me killed off faster than a sub-character in a manga.

Drifter... has a nice ring to it. So you want to know mine. Eve... that is the name I give myself.
Slowly but surely she started getting feeling back in her arm again as she flicked and bend her arm.
And to answer your own question, a heartless has no heart but the only thing I have to "heart" are the memories of what I was. They don't weep, like my weapons, Forgotten and Corrupt, that's all these memories are. I seek only to fill the hunger I have and the one who holds the pure memories I want.
Eve appears from behind her fragment of a world and starts walking back out into the open, waiting for the Drifter to come out and face her.

Eve, huh? Has a nice ring to it...
Leaning against a wall, Iryoku contemplated the woman's answer. Despite being a Heartless, this Eve person had two distinct traits that contradicted her existence- her human appearance, and her ability to reason. All the Heartless he'd encountered never showed any of these traits- they were autonomous, acting purely on wild instinct. Eve seemed instinctive, but had the ability to at least give a reason- no mattered how flawed- as to her existence. This made her quite the odd one...something he could use to his advantage
"You know, you haven't quite lost your heart," he commented nonchalantly, sighing before making his way to the open. "The name 'Heartless' is a reference to the fact that heartless can't think- without a soul to regulate reason, the heart acts out of instinct. The Persona manifests darkness, and Will gives corporeal form. It's ironic, isn't it? The heart you claim to lack is much closer than you think," he called out, entering the clearing to face his assailant.
"Now, the one who really doesn't have a heart is your 'other you,' but I imagine you being as intelligent as you are, you've already know that. Though...if you're willing to barter, I can tell you what I know," he stated, resting Rune Soul on his shoulder. "I know you must be hungry...but it isn't like heartless actually eat hearts anyhow." Running the facts through his head, Iryoku loathed that he actually knew so much about this subject. The knowledge was useful, no doubt....it's just how he picked it up haunts him till this day.
Either way, I didn't come here to fight...if we can both walk away intact and satisfied without fighting, I'd be best...I'm tired of this cat and mouse game.

Eve smirked, and slipped Corrupt into a void of darkness. Unfortunately you're wrong on many things but you are right about one thing. The one I'm looking for is a nobody, she never was one. However I need not want or know where she is. We're... connected by the memories of the girl... Eclair. Eve stretched her right hand out to the side, and all the feathers that were around the place flew straight to her hand. As more came back the mass of feathers started morphing into a "familiar" form. Eve closed her hand and then the loose feathers scattered to reveal a copy of the Drifter's sword, with modification to it. The blade is jet black, with the pommel a dark red. A cutout in the shape of the Heartless, and the second cutout in the shape of the feather. With much ease, Eve gives the sword spin around her hand and points it at 'Drifter'. Believe me, I 'may' not eat hearts but my weapons enjoy a heart every now and then.

Sighing, Iryoku looked on sadly as the Heartless known as Eve summoned a replica of Rune Soul from her feather arrangement. "And here I was, thinking I should try and walk away without a fight...what a pity." With that he reactivated his Over-Soul, the energy flickering and filling the area with electric-blue light. Shifting into a comfortable stance, he readied Rune Soul with both hands.
"My offer still stands- you're free to walk away from this fight at any time. I feel like my welcome has dried up as is," he commented, bending his knees and focusing on his breath. "Though I have to ask- do you really think copying Rune Soul here will let you do what I can? It's just a sword, after all," he commented smugly, springing forward before Eve could reply. Closing the distance to swinging range, Rune Soul burst into electric blue flames before he swung, aiming to cleave Eve in two.

((Yeah I know, just wanted to copy the sword is all.))
Eve just smirked and implanted the blade into the ground in front of her. Then did a handstand on the top of the handle just as the blade made contact. The blade split at the point of contact bringing Eve down. Eve grabbed the handle and swung forward which cause the blade itself to split into sections. In the moonlight a wire could be seen holding the sections together and forward towards the intended target.
It's more than just a sword, it's my "sword".

Iryoku watched as she "sacrificed" the copy to counter his blow, and watched it whip around at him, attached via a wire. Thinking quickly, he twisted and shielded it with his right arm, letting the blade deflect partially against his metal armlet and causing him to grimace as the blow still met flesh. Without pause he hooked his sword through the wire, using his first cut-out's hook shape to extend and pull taunt the wire, trapping the upper part of the sword against his. Twisting around, he thrusted his left palm into her gut, above her navel.
"Then regret your design choice."
And with those words, he channeled his Over-soul into a miniature star, exploding violently into and through Eve's torso, intending to either blow her away or blow her in half. It wouldn't 'kill' her, as if heartless could truly die, but the power behind his spell would inflict a dire hit.
