Standing at the ready, Iryoku watched as time slowed to a crawl as the heartless swung her sword, the blade flying toward his right temple. A small sub thought occurred- the mythical moment before death where one's lie plays out, and where the world slows to a halt just before death is delivered. And as her blade began to cut into his flesh, his eyes widened in terror.
LIKE HELL I'LL LET IT!
A flash of light filled the air...followed by blood. It flew through the air, splattering on Eve's face like a scene from a horror-show, and slowly began to pool on the ground. Her sword, too, was covered with blood, from the point where it had struck Iryoku...to where he now stood, his forehead resting on Eve's. He stood unmoving, his face covered by hair and blood, and the brilliant Over-soul around him slowly dissipating.
"Checkmate."
Summoning a bright shard of electric blue into his left hand, Iryoku shoved it through the wound on her chest, directly into her heart. The remains of his Over-soul flickered, before being absorbed by the shard and channeled into her system. Watching the shard flicker before melting into the would, he became painfully aware that the right side of his face- and even his chest- was slowly being engulfed by blood. Apparently, a combination of SBMA: Fire, Pulse Aura, and the natural protective properties of his Over-soul didn't prevent the Heartless from rending his eye into bloody ruin. If he hadn't turned his head into that attack...he'd be dead, no doubt about it.
Stepping back, he turned toward the circle in the dust, struggling to stand as adrenaline was replaced with shock. "Damn I wish that sword of yours was just for looks," he muttered, sincerely wishing that she had aimed the blow elsewhere.
The Heart, Body, and Soul could be mirrored by the working of a car- the Body as the chassis, the Heart as the motor, and the Soul as the battery. When the battery was over-used and drained, the motor would not start, and the car wouldn't move. To recharge the battery, a second working car would be brought in, their batteries linked by jumper cables, and the energy pulled in, restarting the battery. Iryoku chose to mimic the procedure, using the shard between them to channel his soul.
Of course, it was more painful than it sounded. The heart's sudden re-activation meant that all it's facilities- including emotion and her conscious- would have to cope for whatever wrongful deeds Eve had committed without their presence. The psychological impact could also be fueled by his spoken words- comments and statements he had made could have a greater impact now that she had a conscious to process them.
