Namine was looking around, moving through the shopping area of Traverse Town in an outfit she'd picked out in the last few days. She bumped into someone in the crowed, stumbled back a few steps and looked at them saying, "Oh, I'm sorry! I wasn't watching where I was going."
And then she went very pale, mainly due to the fact the person she'd bumped into was a member of the Organization! She quickly wracked her memory for a name. 'Right, his name's Xaldin! He was number...um...III, right! But I thought Sora had defeated them all!'
"Uh, excuse me sir." The small nobody tried to quickly go around Xaldin and run.

Ugh. There were children everywhere. While a sane, rational human being (aka, a Nobody) would no doubt not care about children or their population density, Xaldin's thought patterns were still - to a degree - based upon Dilan's own. Or, to be more precise, Xaldin borrowed from Dilan's patterns.
Dilan disliked children. He had ever since that random ninja girl had swiped his sideburns and then replaced them with pink glow-in-the-dark scribbles of doom.
That Ansem had the traitorous fortitude to make permanent for a month. Braig had laughed himself into a broken rib.
One of the smaller bundles of joy bumped into him. He noted of her apology - in a muchly distracted fashion - that her voice was much older than the rest of her, but the main of his mind wasn't upon things smaller than himself and he grunted his assent and moved aside, allowing her to pass.
No, his mind was upon Traverse Town itself. It shouldn't exist, not after Sora had first managed to 'save' the multiverse. He had 'ported here, purely out of whimsy, to see what restoration would do to the fragments of joined worlds.
He had expected Nothing. Another holy ground for another World That Never Was.
But instead he found... Traverse Town. Intact.
How peculiar.

As Namine hurried away from the Whirlwind Lancer, a big question popped into her head: 'Why exactly was the Organization here in the first place?'
As she pondered this, only one thought came to the surface: 'Was he here to collect hearts, like they'd been doing!?'
She didn't really want to do it, but she felt like she would have to do something to keep him from hurting anyone.
But how...hm...
Maybe just keep him busy until he got fed up with the place? ...That could work, maybe...
She walked back up to the Nobody, and said, "Uh, do you need to find something in paticular around here? I know this town pretty well, and I could help you. My name's, uh...Nami."
[Not the best reason, but...]

Xaldin looked back at the little tyke. He had been intending to give her a coin and shoo her along (these beggar-children were everywhere) when his brain registered her appearance. He had once seen a photograph of someone very similar in one of the neatly filed reports back in the Castle that Never Was. Violet eyes narrowed.
Had she lost her memory...? Why would she...? Was *this* the reason Traverse Town was intact?
"Nami, hmm?" The lancer asked, trying to stretch the moment out so that he could ponder. Already he was contemplating porting out, grabbing Vexen and porting back into Traverse Town. That said it would be more efficient to grab her port to Vexen and be done with the situation altogether.
But, ah, he wasn't sure of her identity. And the Academic had been working on some disgustingly delicate experiments as of late. And he wasn't comfortable enough with the traitorous neophytes to go to them about this... issue.
Zexion... hm. Zexion could probably help. But unlike Vexen, the Schemer was never easy to ferret out of his hidey-hole. Best to make sure first.
"Actually, I am looking for a clocktower." He said, fishing a five-munny bill out of his pocket and handing it to her. "I hear it is particularly memorable."

Namine was glad that Xaldin had taken up on her offer to show him around. She was praying that she hadn't been recognized though, the lack of emotions could make for an unbreakable poker face when the need arose.
First though, she needed to compose herself. Taking the bill Xaldin offered, she said, "If you're hoping to fight the Heartless that used to appear there when the bell rang, it's gone. A Keyblade wielder killed it a while back. The tower is very pretty though, if that makes any difference to you. Just follow me."
Namine led him off towards the tower, making sure to hold herself differently than when she was with the Organization.

Hmmm. No reaction to the word memorable. Not entirely unexpected: she was a Nobody, after all. One with no memories would not easily gain the ability to react to visual and auditory cues. Perhaps he was wrong.
"No, that's quite alright." Xaldin said, speaking lightly. "I am rather fond of high places and am told it is the highest."
He would need to trap her in a lie of some sort. He considered his next move as he followed the young girl towards the clocktower.
"Tell me more of this 'keyblade wielder' - I admit to being altogether ignorant of what that is."

Namine shrugged at Xaldin's request. "I bet you know as much about him as I do. All I've heard is that his name is Sora and that he fights with a giant key called a Keyblade. Sorry I can't tell you anymore."
Inside, Namine was cheering herself on. She was managing to pull off the deception! All she had to do was keep it up!
"Anyways, I don't think I ever got your name. Is it a personal thing, or did you just forget to give it?"

"That's more than myself," Xaldin muttered, mentally considering Sora's exploits. Most of the Radiant Garden residents had already left for that particular world... would those who remained know of the keyblade master?
Probably.
Damn.
"Anyways, I don't think I ever got your name. Is it a personal thing, or did you just forget to give it?"
Wind howled dramatically.
"It's Xaldin."

Namine looked around as the wind howled. "Xaldin huh? Cool. The clock tower is right up ahead."
As she said this, they entered the plaza where the clock tower loomed above. "See? Right here. It's very pretty."
She leaned back slightly to look up at the clock face, but managed to keep an eye on Xaldin out of the corner of her eye.

Theatricality was lost on the uninitiated it seemed. Xaldin shrugged. It took someone of strong character to appreciate a setup for dramatic moments. A Princess of the Heart probably did not qualify. The reports on Namine had never been particularly complimentary.
Though admittedly, the Castle Oblivion crew were a mite sketchy.
He glanced upwards at the Clocktower. As if reminding him of the time he had already spent on this futile endeavor, it began to ring.
"What would you do," he asked between clangs of the great bell that lay atop it, "if I told you I planned to destroy this world?"
Time to bluff.
"Namine."

Namine went pale as he said her name. Although, the reason could be interpreted as the revealing of his plan to destroy the city.
She made sure to look at him like he was a big time threat, one she was trying her hardest to find a way to run from. Not a stretch, really.
"U-uh...Y-you're gonna destroy the world? Why? And who's Namine? I...My name is Nami, remember?"
She was trying to edge away discreetly so that she could go back to her original plan: Run away!

It was amazing how someone as pale as the little girl in front of him could grow even paler. It was like she had turned into a corpse. Xaldin had very few doubts now. This particular act was one Xigbar would have enjoyed playing, but Xaldin could mime it well enough. He'd been an actor after all: though second to his skills in the arts martial, it was not an art he was particularly unhappy with quality-wise.
He laughed, albeit hollowly. He put two hands in the near universal - whoops, I stepped to far gesture. "I'm sorry - I have a bad taste in jokes I'm afraid. Comes from having one's hometown destroyed and overrun by heartless I suppose."
As the bells finished clanging, he put a hand to his chin and scratched his head. It must have looked ludicrous.
"No, I'm pretty sure I said Nami. Are you sure your hearing is all right?"

Namine laughed shakily as the Nobody gave his explanation. "Um, yes, I suppose that could give a person a darker sense of humor. And I could have sworn I heard you say Namine, not Nami. Maybe I misheard over the bells ringing though..."
Looking up at the clock again, which was reading 5 pm, Namine decided that she should just cut and run now, before Xaldin grabbed her.
"Oh wow, is it 5 already? I needed to be home now! Sorry to leave you without a guide Mr. Xaldin, but I gotta go."
With that, she turned and began running towards the exit.

Hm.
Xaldin realized, with a peculiar jolt of mis-managed emotive echoes, that what he would do next would appear highly suspect to anyone who would happen to be looking in. Trying to get her to stay through verbal means was out. It would look-
No wait. He could try something.
"Say hello to Roxas for me!"

At Xaldin's word, Namine spun on her heel to face him.
"You know where he is?!?"
As soon as the words left her mouth, she slapped her hands over it, eyes wide. All that acting down the drain.
Xaldin definitely knew who she was now, if he hand't already.
So, she did what she saw as the smart thing: started running again.
