Emi lowered her arm was was pushed and jostled out of the way by all the commotion. She really really didn't like these people. Another kid had showed up. She wrinkled her nose at the though. She didn't much like the other children, she only put up with Kei because he was the only other kid her age at the orphange. And this Star person was incredibly annoying. But now this Vidrel pirate guy was annoying, but extremely interesting.
Emi flipped the knife shut and backed away as he punched a hole in the wall. Her eyes widened. Somebody was going to see... somebody was going to find them. Its nearly impossible to ignore a crowd of people around a jail cell, and absolutely impossible to ignore someone punching a hole in one. She was going to be caught.... these annoying adults would tattle for her for pulling a knife on them and she would never be grown up!
With a whimper, Emi looked for a place to hide. But she still wanted to be able to see what was going on. Where could Mr. Dilan be brining this stranger... especially looking for valubles... Mr. Dilan worked for King Ansem. Emi's little heart almost exploded out of pure happiness! Would he take him to the castle? No matter... even if he didn't, she would follow them. It would be a fun adventure anyways and she didn't have to be back at the orphange for dinner until sundown....

So, he was going to help the prisoner. "Damn it." she sighed out, before stepping back. Star pushed her hair back. "Hey, cotton candy head." she said stuffing her hands into her her skirts pockets, she stared down at Emi. "Are you looking for some sort of job? Because I'm sure I could get you one."

Fi had moved away when Vidrel, or the Pirate Guy as he'd labeled him, blew open the wall.
Normally, Fi would have protested this, as Dragoons, even those in training, were meant to uphold the law.
But, seeing as he was helping Dilan, a fellow Dragoon who had almostly certainly been put in there wrongly, it was okay.
He went near the hole in the wall, smacking back a different person trying to leave with his "training spear", which was simply a sharpened pole, and waited for Dilan to exit so that he could help him.

Obediently (because when a mind-controlled minion tells you something is for your benefit, it's kind of like you telling yourself that it's for your benefit) Dilan stepped back and waited to be sprung from prison. First it turned bright red. Milliseconds later, the wall exploded as something hammered into it. Nice[/i].
Old man Ansem would probably be un-happy. Oh well. C'est la vie. Next time, maybe he'd think twice before locking up fledgling wind mages with superior mind control powers.
Hopping out of the newest ventilation duct, Dilan nodded magnamiously at all his assembled minions. Not that they knew they were minions or that they had assembled for his benefit but ignorance was bliss. He'd hardly think to deny them of that small pleasure.
Awww, and how cute. The little dragoon was trying to make sure none of the other bad guys escaped. With a gust of wind, he bowled the other convicts down, watching as they crunched their heads onto the hard stone surface that was the prison floor.
"Yes indeed!" Dilan boomed. "We shall all get jobs!" Coincidentally, prison alarms started activating. While Dilan had no doubt that his mind control powers were prodigious, he had no idea what their limits were. And this wasn't the place to test them.
"With Shinra."
Marching off, he quickly headed towards the largest corporation in Radiant Garden that just so happened to be located in the opposite direction of the Castle. No way he was heading back to see the old man now.

Emi was sorely tempted to just turn around and punch this Star person right in the face for calling her cotton candy head. Emi was quite self-conscious about her hair. But just as she was turning around and lifting her fist, prison alarms started going off. Emi said a word a seven-year-old shouldn't even know and took off running looking for a sutible hiding spot. She frowned when she saw Mr. Dilan was leading the pirate guy the opposite way from the castle and she wondered if potentially getting caught was worth following them anymore. Crouching behind one of the plentiful crates in this town, hunkering down with her back against the wall, trying to make herself small.... and decided following them was DEFINITELY worth the slim chance of her getting caught. Besides, if she did come up, she would turn on the tears and tell them some story about how she was only trying to follow them to make sure they were arrested... or something like that.
There was a very small window of time between when Mr. Dilan and Vidrel the pirate made it far enough away and the prison guards arrived. Emi peeked over the crate to make sure the coast was clear and then sped out of there, stopping for a few seconds to pull up her shorts...they were too big and liked to slip down if she jostled about too much. (Miss Kagabu had no choice but to give Emi clothes that were too big for her, Emi grew too fast...)
Emi decided she kind of felt like a spy, following these people as they were going off to do something doubtlessly illegal and very very bad. She grinned to herself as she hid behind a cart to avoid being seen for a few seconds. It was a feral kind of grin, and although not expected on the face of a child, it fit Emi perfectly...

Get jobs? What was this guy talking about? Vidrel hadn't held a job in years... Well, not an actual job. Ah, piracy, such a fun pastime. Now... Where were they headed? Shinra? Who was that? Or maybe... What was it? Vidrel showed no signs of caring. So long as he got what he needed, it didn't matter.
Wait. That kid, the one with the spear... Who was that? How did he know 'Dilan' or whatever his name was? "Hmm... Maybe I should keep an eye on him... He could cause trouble for me. Can't have that now, can we?" he thought to himself. "Yes, that would be best." Maybe these two were working together though? How would he take them out then? He had to find out now... "Hey! You... Who's that boy? How do you two know each other? More importantly, where are we going?"

To mollify the tough (who apparently had kept his own will) Dilan merely said: "Quiet. We gotta move. Coppers will be here any moment. Shinra's the safest place to be."
Two blocks later, the surveillance bots finally arrived.
Dilan wanted to keep his mind-controlled minions close by so he could practice (would he be able to, for instance, order people to become skilled dragoons by merely willing it?) but in the end, the delay proved costly. Descending from the sky, three of the robotic creatures immediately began blaring out warnings.
"CEASE AND DESIST! ANYONE NOT FOLLOWING THESE DIRECTIVES SHALL..."
Yadda, yadda, yadda. Dilan groaned. Always the same ol', same ol'. They had to move quickly though - while weak, these suckers could swarm ya and then it was back to prison and well, life would be poop. Nasty little electric tasers too.
Taking a leap up, he grabbed one of the glorified mobile cameras and gave it a good right hook straight in its prosthetic eye and watched it crash and burn.
Destroy the bots... destroy the surveillance bots...

Fi followed behind Xaldin, figuring that the older Dragoon would know where to go.
He was a little young to get a job though, but maybe Mr. Dilan could do something about that too.
As the bots closed in, and Xaldin took on the first alone, Fi figured he could at least keep one of the others off him.
Jumping in Dragoon fashion, though not nearly as high as an actual Dragoon, he landed on one of the other bots, sending it spiraling out of control, while he jumped off and safely landed on the ground.

Emi squealed, sounding a bit like a kitten, when the bots showed up. One crashed down near to her hiding spot and she hunkered down lower, trying not to be seen and trying not to get hit with bot-guts.
She wished she could pop out and help take out the bots... but something was holding her back. She couldn't get caught, but she wanted to help. The line between good and bad was beginning to blur. This was going further than your average little kid mischeviousness. This was destroying the survelliance bots. She'd always been taught that the bots were good things, for her protection. She was scared and confused and was beginning to rethink this whole idea...
She huddled behind the crate, shaking and feeling overwhelmed and scared because of the fighting. But she couldn't leave now... could she? She could either wait it out and keep following them (which she was beginning to see was a bad idea), or try and run away and more than likely be seen and then be in big trouble anyways. It was a lose-lose situation at the moment... plus she couldn't even remember why she wanted to follow them anyway, besides to cause trouble and be a general pain in the butt and prove her maturity. But you know, hiding behind a cart crying because a few survelliance exploded told her that her whole out look on maturity wasn't really working. She was just a child after all, and children don't think straight half the time and now Emi had gotten herself into a huge mess... she'd set out today WANTING to make trouble and not get caught, but she now she was afraid she'd be in trouble for being involved.
Children are such fickle creatures.

Dodging the oncoming surveillance bots, Vidrel spotted something interesting. There was that girl again... He would have to make his way over to her. Quickly dodging through the onslaught, he made sure to keep track of the other two. Couldn't lose them just because of something like this... He would have to get behind that girl. Why was she here? He would find out soon enough. Just a few more feet... There. He jumped behind the nearby cart, landing beside the girl in a kneeling position, his hair falling forward. "Be quiet, and don't move." he said, placing a hand on her shoulder. "What are you doing following us? Surely you know this is no dance number for a little girl such as yourself... perhaps you're a little delinquent as well?" Peering over the top of the cart, he made sure this 'Dilan' and that other brat were still there. They would have to hurry this up... Vedril may not be a nice guy, but he didn't want to get any more innocent people hurt... Damn, there was his soft side again. He would have to keep that in check. Turning back to the girl, he asked "Why didn't you just go home? Won't your parents be wondering where you went?"

When Vidrel appeared before her, Emi started crying harder and scrambled back against the cart. But then he told her to be quiet and not to move, so she bit her lip and tried not to twist away when he put a hand on her shoulder. She blinked, not sure if he meant for her to answer his questions (Miss Kagabu did that sometimes, and all Emi got was a slap across the face for answering) but when he asked if her parents weren't wondering where she was, she welled up in tears again and said "I d-don't have any parents... p-please don't t-tell on me!"
She kept going, rubbing her eyes with her forearm and sobbing.
"I was following you guys because I wanted to see where you we're going. I thought... if I could I go without being caught, I would be grown up... I didn't know that there would be fighting though! Why are you attacking the bots, did they do something bad, are they the bad guys?"

Well, apparently combat and mind control were incompatible. Comfortably ignoring all evidence that it’d be in his best interest to quickly dispatch the surveillance drones, the tough (who Xaldin had privately nicknamed Orange) had walked away to converse with…
Huh. What was that kid doing here?
Ignoring the conversation (that he couldn’t hear anyway) Xaldin quickly flipped upwards to destroy the last drone with a well placed kick.

"Wow Mr. Dilan! You're really good!"
Fi was amazed by the elder Dragoon's midair combat skills.
"So where are we going again?"
The kid landed lightly on the ground, with all the grace a Dragoon needed, minus quite a bit. In other words, he landed, and fell over.

Vidrel heard a crash as the commotion stopped. The drones must be finished... Damn, he'd really wanted to have some fun. Still, there was the matter at hand. This girl must be dealt with. He couldn't stand crying children. "You thought you'd be grown up just because you weren't caught? Kids these days... What makes you think you'd be grown up just because of that? Besides, whatever decisions you make, you have to be prepared to live with the consequences. Stop crying. I can't relate to not having parents, but I live alone most of the time. There's nobody to tell you what to do, it's fun. But the consequences sometimes are rough. You have to deal with them. Learn to fight. You have a choice now. You can go to your caretaker, or you can follow us, knowing there may be more fights ahead, and knowing there is no 'good' or 'bad' side here." Did he really just invite the girl to come with them? Damn, this was just inviting trouble... He turned to the two others. "You, little one. You're a kid. Help this one out. As for you, 'Dilan,' why are we going to this Shinra? What makes it so safe, and what's there that I would find interesting?"

Dilan blinked. Then his eyes narrowed suspiciously. As far as he knew, mind controlled minions weren't supposed to be so chatty. In fact, as far as he understood such things, mind controlled minions were supposed to be rather... zombie-like. He was starting to suspect that his powers were rather... unique. Yeah. More suggestion than pure compulsion. A trickier skill but no doubt one that was more useful.
So, he had to play it to the Orange's... greed.
"Oh, it isn't safe, I assure you." Dilan said peaceably. Every now and then he stretched his senses outwards, but apparently the surveillance bots were still en route. Plenty of time... maybe. "But it's stinking rich. And something fishy's going on. The old man wouldn't believe me when I told him that they're playing tricks with the food they're selling but-" here he paused. Shrugged.
"Something's rotten in the state of Shinra." He nodded to the little dragoon... sort of... grunted at the crying little lady (who reminded him of someone, he wasn't quite sure who but who he was sure was annoying and old and slightly regal) and nodded off vaguely towards the pristine Shinra Tech towers. "How about we get going? I don't think I'll quite get another chance like this."
