Emi had never talked to an elevator before. Nevertheless, she answered with her full name just as Fi had.
"Emiline DesCoteaux," she told "Christmas".

"Excellent!" Christmas chirped. The lights blinked a bit and after a few scattered pop-crackle-boop! sounds, the elevator began to smoothly move upwards without the slightest hint of noise.
"Fierro Shin, Vidrel Lyphram, Emiline DesCoteaux! Welcome to Shinra! I hope your stay in Shinra is as pleasant and welcoming as possible! Rahahahaha!"
Dilan was beginning to get seriously annoyed by the artificial intelligence, first generation or not. Who'd coded it so that it laughed like that?
"I assume this is your first trip here. Founded in 20XX, Shinra was-"
Oh good lords no-

Some time later...
The elevator doors dinged open. Dilan rushed out as quickly as he could. That had been possibly the worst two minute elevator ride he had ever been forced to endure. That sort of lecture should have been, if nothing else, capable of being muted by anyone inside the infernal contraption. Revolver had no doubt enjoyed their squirming at Shinra patriotism.
Or whatever the heck it had been.
Dilan shuddered.
Somehow, the blonde had already gotten out of the elevator and was preceding at a brisk pace. If he didn't hurry, she'd run off without them.
Actually...
"Alright guys. Time to get lost."
He meant that quite literally. Heading in the exact opposite direction in which she'd gone, he looked to all of them as he proceeded to move away. "We probably have a few minutes before she realizes what's up and finds us. Before that... have any of you heard of Mako?"

Emi racked her brain, but couldn't remember having heard anything about Mako. She took long strides to keep up with Dilan and asked him "What's mako?"
She over her shoulder to see if maybe that blond lady had figured out they were gone.

Fi jogged slightly to keep up with Dilan, using faster short strides to match Emi's longer ones.
As the topic of mako came up, he suprised himself by remembering something he'd been told when asking about "that big building on the other side of town" which he was now in.
"Mako's a kind of energy right? My teacher said it had something to do with a 'Life Stream'..." He trailed off after this, his wealth of knowledge depleted.

[OOC: Elevator got my last name wrong ] Mako? Vidrel wondered why he'd asked about that. Was this 'Mako' whatever Dilan was after? " So now that we're done with that amazingly wonderful history," he started in a sarcastic tone. " What's this 'Mako' stuff? Is it worth anything?" He wished Dei would hurry up and explain the stuff. They wouldn't have much time, and judging by the earlier attacks, Shinra probably had more defensive measures waiting for them...

Dilan blinked at the kid lancer's knowledge. That there was pretty... esoteric. Training must have changed since his parents era. Or maybe school was a lot harder than it'd used to be. Not that he would know: his schooling had been largely informal.
"Yes. Sort of." Dilan nodded at Fi. "That is the legend - all things are related to Mako, a supposedly inner and outer energy which unites all living things. Wutaian monks believed that it could help them attain what they called 'enlightenment.' This Mako, however..."
Dilan paused. "Well, it's a drug. On the black market it's worth tens of thousands." [ooc: morality time! You guys get to choose/discuss what you wish to do next.]

Vidrel stumbled. Tens of thousands?! If he could get ahold of that... No. Would that really be worth it...? Chances are, it was heavily guarded wherever it was. Not to mention the cost of other things. Vidrel's inner child screamed at him through his heart. If you do this, you're going way too far. You'll just be a greedy shell of a person. Your heart will be gone... "And what is it that you're planning to do with it, Dilan? Make a little profit yourself?" Maybe he'd actually listen to his heart this time. Fine. I'll listen to you this time. But it had better pay off...
"I'm getting rid of it, and then I'm getting my own things. I don't care who comes with me. Dilan, where is it stored?"

Fi looked shocked at the revelation of what mako really was. "A drug? Like, the things that people get addicted to?"
He seemed to be trying to figure out what to do, and decided to stick with the person who knew what he was doing, "Mr. Dilan, what are you going to do with it?"

[OOC: Ohohoho, now I have context for Emi's drug addictions MUHAHAHAA!]
DRUGS ARE BAD!
Emi's inner voice was screaming at her, repeating the same things Miss Kagabu had told her over and over. Don't do drugs, don't smoke cigarettes, don't drink alcohol and don't kiss boys until she was at least 16 years old.
Later in her life, Emi would break every single one of this rules. Perhaps this moment was the start of it all. Because she was squashing her conscience. She didn't know what exactly they were for, or why they were bad, only that they were off limits. And that they were for grown-ups.
"Yeah, what are you gonna do with them, Mr. Dilan?"

Revolver blinked.
The brats were missing.
She sighed before snapping orders off left and right. She needed these kids found pronto. There wasn't anything sensitive here, but if they got themselves to the lower levels...
v.v.v.v.v
Dilan shrugged, an easy roll of his shoulders as he kept on moving. There had to be a stairwell somewhere. "I don't think it's being stored here. I think it's being produced. Shinra's said to be conducting some fishy experiments."
He paused, having found a door. He nodded and motioned them to follow as he opened and started to descend.
"I think they're putting it in food sources." It was the reason he'd been put in jail - he'd been investigating a fruit stand when things had gotten hairy. The lancer quieted as a white-suited man walked past them, intently reading documents as he walked. Quite the multi-tasker. When he had gone, Dilan continued. "They'll probably contaminate the water next though it'll be harder - the water's monitored pretty well."
"Unrefined Mako's called Baby Blue on the streets. In low doses it gives you a high, increases your reflexes, sends your pulse and blood pressure through the roof. I'm guessing they think it's a super soldier formula - supplying it in low doses to see what effects it'll have at the population at large."
Dilan didn't really care but...
"I'm not cattle." His eyes darkened. "They can go test it on themselves if they're so bloody interested." He nodded to the three of them. "If we blow their cover, the Castle'll definitely reward you well. You in?"

"Money, and lots of it if we win? I'm down. Where's it located?" Vidrel said quickly, getting ready to head in the direction. Maybe I'll keep a little for myself... he thought. The increased reflexes would definitely help... but the increased blood pressure and pulse wouldn't be good. If he could refine that... Yes. Vidrel would take some, but not a lot. "Say, Dilan. If one refined this, what would the dangers be?"

Before Dilan could answer, Emi butted in. "Money? Lots of money?"
She could definitely use that. Whether in an unselfish way to help Miss Kagabu with the orphanage, or in a selfish way to buy that snare drum she saw in the music shop the other day. At any rate, money was a good thing AND they were doing a good thing by exposing Shinra so she didn't have to worry about getting in major trouble when she got home. In fact, she would probably even be rewarded for a job well done with cookies! To make things even better, Dilan had mentioned the castle. Emi sighed dreamily, giving in to her one girlish day dream. She would give anything to get close to the castle. Money, cookies, and the castle. Sounded like plan.
"I'm in!"

"I'll help." Fi said, agreeing with the others.
He hadn't known people would do horrible things like this! It was his duty as a dragoon to help stop it.

Revolver fumed. They couldn't have managed it so quickly. And yet so it was: it appeared that they were already in the stairwells, rapidly descending. Fudge, fudge, fudge. Rufus was going to have a field day.
She dialed a number.
"This is Revolver, ID - Gamma-Gamma-Foxtrot-Blue-Seven-Eight-Niner. I need to speak with Angel."
She waited a moment as they passed her through to.
"Angel. We have a situation."
v.v.v.v.v
Dilan nodded magnanimously at all of them. They were good people. It was good that there were good people left in Radiant Garden.
You promised- You promised-!
The lancer shook his head, clearing the cobwebs. Now wasn't the time. He focused on Vidrel's question. It was an interesting one. He took what he knew and applied it to a hypothetical situation.
As if hypotheticals were what interested the Master's Apprentices.
"The reason why Mako's called Baby Blue is because long-time users will have their eye color shift." He eyed the numbers. Damn, still too far away. There *had* to be a faster way to descend. If they lingered in the stairwells for too long, Shinra was definitely going to find them. "They consistently show loss of higher brain function but become remarkably stronger - almost like animals. Their pain threshold increases, as does their muscle mass, energy reserves, and so on."
"If you could prevent yourself from losing all thinking ability, it probably would be a super soldier serum."
Sixth floor. Too slow.
"We need to get down more quickly. Any ideas, guys?"

Emi stopped for a moment while the others raced ahead and looked down the stairs. They were your standard office building stairs. No good for banister sliding.
She dashed to catch up.
"We could roll down them or something.
