"Well, while we're here, we might as well break stuff." Vidrel shouted back to them as he jumped to the nearest landing. He threw open the door and ran to the elevator. "Watch." As he said the words, he was already charging his fire. This elevator door wasn't going to be here much longer. "When you can see inside, blast the cable and jump. Dilan, other shorty - Use your lances to slow yourselves when you need it. Girl, grab onto one of them." he directed.

Fi was annoyed by his new title, "other shorty," but listened to the man, and moved to where he could quickly move down the elevator. That didn't, however, keep him from knocking his lance into Vidrel's legs as he moved forward.
He wasn't just going to sit there and be called "shorty," after all!

Emi stuck next to Dilan. No offense to Fi, but Dilan looked like he might be able to stand-up in case of a terrible elevator accident. She watched intently, ready to jump when it was time.

As everyone assembled around him, Vidrel let loose a large blast of fire that obliterated the elevator doors. "Now. Go!" he told them, lowering his hand. He pulled out his bow, ready to defend against anyone who saw fit to try and stop them. Then again, the building was strangely empty of people... Had Reno done something?

[ooc: >_<. I can't promise activity but this is the thread I'm kinda partially driving forward so... I'll do what I can.] Dilan snapped back to attention. Something felt off. Like his entire center of gravity had shifted violently up and then down. Nausea assaulted his senses. He'd lost all sensation in one of his arms.
Oh. Right. He'd... been... poisoned...
Damnit all to fudge.
Deep breath. He could do this. Always could.
"Smart thinking," he told the pirate, a little cross-eyed. Winds whipped around him as he struggled to control the output of his magical abilities. Without his usual control, the effects were actually stronger not weaker. He'd be in a bit of a pickle if he needed to fight a prolonged battle, however.
"Alright. Let's do this." He looked down at Emi and Fi. "Hold my hands. I'll control our descent."
Dilan jumped.

Fi grabbed onto Dilan's hand the older Dragoon jumped down the elevator shaft, praying to god that the Dragoon knew what he was doing.
As he stared at the wall flashing past, he got his lance ready to try and stab the wall to stop the descent if he could.

Emi reached out and snatched up the Dragoon's hand just as he jumped. It snatched her into the air and down into the elevator shaft. She squeezed her eyes shut, and squeezed Dilan's hand as they fell down, down, down...
Yeah, we're gonna die, she thought.

There was a moment of delirious free fall. Dilan didn't even know which of the tykes had grabbed his dead hand - only that one of them had and that if they wanted to remain unsplattered they'd better hold on tight.
Hm. Hopefully there wasn't an elevator hurtling down towards them. That'd be... unfortunate.
He flared his aura. Magic buffered him, became part of him, as it went to do his bidding, markedly slowing down his - and their - descent. Soon they were descending almost lazily, like a leaf during autumn.

Emi cracked one eye open... and then the other. Then, her eyes went about as big around as dinner plates when she saw they were gently floating instead of hurtling towards their deaths.
"Whoa, cool!" she squealed.

"Dilan, push everyone against the wall...!" Vidrel shouted down the shaft. He turned, once more checking that nobody was around, and backed up. It's time... he thought. He rushed to the shaft, and jumped into a dive. I'm gonna have to slow myself down somehow... If the three of them weren't out of the way, they were getting hit, and that would most definitely not be a good thing. Vidrel needed to take care of the car at the bottom of the shaft so they could go through the door, but he couldn't do that if they were all together. He started emanating heat as he fell through the shaft, and pointed his hand at the bottom, waiting for them to move out of the way.

Angel grumbled under his breath as he examined the security camera footage.

Dilan concentrated. He wasn't used to performing wind magic under these circumstances and though theoretically he could target himself, it was nothing he'd ever tried before.
Pity he couldn't modulate his power anymore either.
A gust of wind slammed into him with enough power to move a horse-drawn carriage. Being considerably less weighty than a horse drawn carriage, Dilan and co. (but mainly Dilan, who had been the focus of the spell) were slammed rudely against the elevator shaft, making way for Vidrel.

Emi was having so much fun floating around. It kind of made her feel like a fairy... until she abruptly slammed into the wall. Tears sprung to her eyes. But she refused to cry.
"My face hurts," she muttered, but not loud enough for anyone to hear.

As he fell past the three of them, Vidrel launched a large blast of fire down the elevator shaft. Hopefully it would do what he wanted it to, and destroy the elevator sitting at the bottom. Now he just had one other problem... He had no way to stop himself from his rapid descent. He had a few ideas, but doubted they would work. He pulled two arrows out of his quiver and, grabbing them as close to the head as he could, slammed the points into the shaft wall. Nothing. Letting go, he punched the wall, causing him to fly against the other wall. Still nothing. "Nice knowin' ya, Dilan!" he shouted, somewhat sarcastically.

Fi paled as Vidrel seemingly bid the group farewell. He may not have liked the guy, but he wasn't just gonna let him die!
Letting go of Dilan, he accelerated downward until he was below the rest of the group.
"I hope this works..." he muttered to himself as he began channeling magic into himself, began spinning his lance, and shouted "Whirlwind!"
As he did this, he released the magic in a burst that turned into a miniature cyclone in the shaft, blasting open a door and slowing everyone above him to a halt near it.
He really hoped someone would grab him on the way out.

Emi had been reduced to screaming names.
"Vidrel!" she shrieked, watching him fall. She struggled to get away and try and help, but the wind spell inhibited her. She wasn't a magic user and didn't know how to cope with its effects. Fi broke loose from the group, and Emi screamed after him just as she had for Vidrel. Fi cast his whirlwind spell, and she and Dilan came to a stop.
Emi flailed uselessly in the air. It was like trying to swim against a current. But Fi was falling... she had to save him! She snatched her hand away from Dilan's and screamed "Take the spell off! I have to go get him!"
