Star hadn't really thought about it much. But was thankful that she was alive. Years ago her home was destroyed, and she was sent to Traverse Town against her will. Working was all she could do until she had enough munny to get out of that town. Her long dark hair was placed back into a messy pony tail as she cleaned the table off in the cafe. Her single braid fell down in front of her as she bent slightly over. The uniforms were dull and not so bright to the eyes. Although her hazel-brown eyes looked at the customers around, she wished she was off of work. She had things to practice.

Ah, what a beautiful night. The weather was cool, but not cold; the gentle breeze adding to this effect. Looking up, you would find the darkness of the sky penetrated by the lights of the stars, and the glowing of the signs around the town. Yes, Rolt had grown used to living here, and one of the things he enjoyed most about it was the sky at night. So peaceful...
He heard his stomach growl. Rolt decided to interrupt his stargazing to satisfy his hunger. After all, you can't fully enjoy something on an empty stomach, can you? Dropping down off of roof of the house he was laying on, he landed in a crouch. Looking around, he spotted a nearby restaurant. "The food is probably fresh... but how am I gonna pull this one off?" Standing up, he pulled his cloak close to him. He started walking quietly to his destination, stopping across the plaza. Rolt walked around the edge, trying to find a good spot in the shadows near the stoves.
Spotting one, Rolt casually walked over, and when the cook wasn't paying attention, hid in the shadows. "Heh. I'll just wait here for a bit... Mm... The food here truly smells delicious. Let's hope it tastes good too..." he said quietly. The cook turned around again, and Rolt swiped a burger from the grill. He turned and walked quickly away, biting the burger. Ah, now he could get back to that rooftop...

As she went to the back into the kitchen carrying dirty dishes, she noticed something a little off by the stove but shrugged it off. Turning her back to it for a moment, she turned around just in time to see Rolt grabbing a burger from the stove. "Hey," she said not quick enough. "Catch him." she told the cook who looked confused.
"Catch who, Miss. Star?" he asked cluelessly.
"Never mind." Star said rubbing her temples and turning away. She would be getting off work soon. Thanking the stars above it was very soon.

He had heard a woman's voice telling the cook (who, thankfully, seemed to be very dense) to catch him. "Uh-oh. Gotta play it casual..." He stuffed the burger in his mouth and bit down, holding it in his teeth. After he made sure it wouldn't fall out, he stuffed his hands in his pockets and walked away as if nothing happened. Coming to a wall, he looked up. "Ngph Mmh Ah..." he mumbled, which, without the burger blocking the way, would have said something along the lines of 'Up we go.' With hardly a pause, he crouched and jumped as high as he could, catching the side of roof. Luckily, it wasn't an angled roof, so he could climb up fairly easily. Doing so, he turned and sat once he reached the top, and looked up again at the sky. "Ah, much better..." he said, removing the remaining part of the burger from his mouth. He looked back down at the restaurant, trying to guess who had seen him.

"See you." Star said to the owner as she placed her apron up and took her hair down. As she left the small cafe, she hadn't noticed the small dark creature crawling behind her. It wasn't like she had eyes behind her head, but she surely did sense it. Turning around slowly she eyed the small shadow that slowly formed it's self. "Crap." she said gently backing up. She had left her weapons and things back at her house.

Still scanning the restaurant, Rolt noticed a young woman walking away. This hadn't caught his attention, in fact, he wouldn't have paid attention at all normally. No, what had caught his attention was the thing behind her. It was one of those shadow-things, and wherever those things showed up, there was trouble. "Damn. Well, there goes my night of relaxation." he said, standing up on the ledge. He quickly finished the rest of the burger, and pulled out one of his daggers. Throwing it quickly at the shadow, he then shouted at the woman. "Hey, you down there! Don't just stand there, run!" From his experiences, these things never came alone. He reached in his vest and pulled another dagger out, cautiously looking around.

Star was caught off guard as soon as he threw that dagger at the heartless that was about to attack her. She quickly turned and ran from her spot. "Why are the heartless in the first district anyway?" she asked herself, before looking up at Rolt. "That's the guy who stole from the store!" she said coming around and pointing up at him. "You're the thief from the cafe!" the bluntness behind her voice was there, but she shook her head and began to run again. "Damn it."

Heh. So she was the one who had seen him. Oh well, it made no difference. His eyes followed her as she ran off, then turned back at where the shadow was. He casually dropped from the rooftop, rolling forward as he hit the ground so as to lessen the impact. He walked over to where he had thrown his dagger, and picked it up. "Still no sign of more... Maybe they followed her? He put his daggers in his vest, and headed off in the direction the girl had gone.

She pushed open the second district door. Star had been renting out a room at the inn for the longest time, so it was the safest place she knew. Opening up the inn's doors, she suddenly stopped hearing a roar coming from behind her. How come the heartless were following her of all people? One jumped at her. "Ah." she squeaked out lifting up her arm and blocking it from attacking her. It clawed at her chest, she pushed it back as quickly as possible.

Jeez, what were these things after that girl for? Rolt kept chasing them, following to the Second District. There were at least 10, and Rolt couldn't handle them alone... He couldn't just let this happen though. Quickly, he grabbed two daggers and threw one at the shadow attacking the girl, and one at the one closest to him. He jumped into the middle of the group, trying to get the focus of the attacks on him. "Hey, get out of here! I can't hold them off for long!"

Star stumbled backward and hit the wall as soon as she was jumped in front of. "I haven't got a clue why they are attacking me." she looked to her side and opened up the door to her hotel room as soon as he pulled the key from her bag. How annoying it was at the current moment, all she could do was run and hide in her room. They had been bothering her an awful lot as of late, but they hadn't ever gone inside the inn and followed her.

How much longer could he hold out? He was back down to two daggers, having picked up and re-thrown the ones he had earlier. Soon he would have to use his sword... No. It wouldn't come to that. He wouldn't dull the blade of his fallen friend on something like these. Throwing the remaining two daggers, he knocked two more of the shadows away. Four left... Maybe he could do this? He was starting to get a bit tired... "When I finish these things, I want to know who you are! Why were these things following you?" he shouted at the door behind him. Just a bit longer... Rolt dove to pick up the nearest weapon he could, one of his daggers, and taunting the remaining shadows. "I'm not done yet! Come on!"

"I don't even know why they are attacking me!" Star shouted back to him running over to her dresser and digging around to find her weapon. A small marble pink colored sword was lying on the bottom of it. Thank goodness...she sighed out before taking the small sword out. "I'm coming out to help!"

Coming out to help? What could she mean by that? Surely she didn't fight... Well, if she was indeed coming to help, he could relax a bit... Even if she wasn't, he still needed a break. Rolt backed into the corner nearest the door, and crouched. Focusing some of his energy to protection, Rolt threw up a Dream Shield. "Ah. I can take a small breather. This won't hold for too long though I suppose..." he said as he leaned against the wall. The shadows were bashing against the shield, looking slightly confused as they couldn't get to Rolt. He hoped that girl could actually fight...

Star turned her sword slightly in her hand. Before opening up the door to the hallway. They were attacking him alright. "Jeez.." she said running and slashing one away, before getting in front of him. "Get into my room." she said holding the sword defensively. "They never enter my room."
