-Vwipp-Darkness swarmed and encased the doorway out of the castle. -Vwiiipp-In a similar manner, the doorway at the end of the podium gave way to a dark corridor. Walking out of them... were Mushroom Heartless of the strangest variety. Each Heartless was swathed in a black Organization robe with the Heartless symbol emblazoned upon it. Each of the Mushrooms walked with determination and focus. Seven from the entrance strode forward, and six from the other door followed suit. With their hands behind their backs, they walked with no great speed to form a circle around the three... visitors. Some small, some huge (and I mean HUGE), none of the creatures gave away any expressions. And then they all burst out with a flurry of words. For whatever reason, they had promptly decided to start talking amongst themselves. Twos and threes suddenly leaning to each other and whispering in their own language. On occasion, the Heartless would sneak a glance at the trio, only to quickly look away. It certainly was a sight to behold. One didn't speak though. The second largest among them remained still, surveying the guests with a visible air of authority. And then it stepped forward. All was quiet. Hands behind it's back (still), all yellow eyes fell on the mouse. And so they stayed, for a few moments. Apparently finding no disagreement, the head mushroom turned it's gaze towards Dante. All other cloaked Mushrooms did the same, scrutinizing the boy. And so they stayed, for a few moments. Satisfied, the leader glanced over towards the shadowmage. All the mushrooms forced their glare on the man. And so they stayed. A low, dark hum came from all the crowd at the sight of Magus. The mage wasn't approved of. The rumbling continued for a minute as the main Mushroom looked around to it's fellows, as if seeking out a consensus. And then it's hands rose. All fell silent once more. Cue the awkward silence. .
. .
. . .
. . . . The Mushroom curtly nodded. One moment later, in a blurry of fast movement that caused a small wind, no mushrooms remained in sight. Save for the smallest of them all. The puny black-clothed Heartless held two swords in each hand, both having sturdy guards and heavy rods for the blade. The dark portals on both ends of the foyer dissipated. It raised the right sword to be level with the visitors... and charged. [New rules. For the sake of the battle, I'll post every other time. The posting order:

(OOC: Heh... somehow I just knew this was coming. Time to make me some shiitake mushroom burgers!)
The shroomy foe came at him with twin blades ready to strike.
Scowling disdainfully, Magus returned in like fashion.
Twin flashes of light radiated from Magus' hands, one shimmering silver and the other radiant crimson. From these manifest his trademark weapons: the steel-bladed Moonfall and the Dreamstone-forged Dream Reaper. It was rare indeed that the shadowmage would call upon both weapons at once -- ordinarily a single scythe requires two hands to wield properly, after all. Ordinarily. Leaping forward to meet the mushroom's charge, Magus became the spinning, twisting, reversing center of a razor-edged maelstrom, his deadly blades meeting those of the shroom in a rapid and elegant dance of fatal grace and beautiful conflict. Whirling, slashing, giving way and leaping forward, trick-spinning the grim zephyrs around his own waist to catch his foe by surprise, his blades and the mushroom's met again and again, just as much ballet as battle. Though magician by trade, Magus took the art of the blade as being exactly that: art.
So the castle's inhabitants disapproved of him? He would test their worthiness to judge him...
(OOC: I cannot tell you for how long I've wanted to do a scene like that. ;D)

[Note: Health system. Green is full/good health, yellow is "not doing so good..." and red is "SAVE ME SAVE ME!" Underlined is dead.]Left, right, up down, blades flashed in every which way as they flew about in every response to Magus' actions. This Mushroom wasn't green. For every flick of the wrist was a response. With no small amount of strength and skill, the miniature mushroom Heartless found Magus to be his equal, though the mage was definitely a bit on the shabby side... where Magus had elegance with steel, the Mushroom had efficiency. In a quick movement, the Mushroom leaped backwards a great deal. During this move, it swapped the blades. it now held the swords by the blades. Landing, it quickly did an about face and started to bring his elbow up and around to bring the weapons down in a club like manner... ...on the King.

[ No Reaction for me, thanks. By the way, if I had chosen to do so, would I have had to let you describe what occurred afterward? ]
Mickey was heartbroken to hear Dante's story of another youth corrupted by darkness from the Destiny Islands disaster. When this was all over he would have to help the boy as best he could with that struggle. And maybe introduce him to Riku...
Suddenly the hall was swept up in activity. Mickey was well-versed in knowledge on the Heartless and the many forms they came in, so these fungus shapes sparked a few specific reactions from the King. Mushroom heartless always were... different. Not all of them would attack people, but the black ones were known to be quite dangerous. As such His Majesty kept the Keyblade concealed away for now. If he drew it then all of them may instinctively recognize their natural enemy and attack. For now he gathered the other two to his side and waited with vigilance.
When the ruckus was over a new one soon began. This dual-wielding Mushroom that stayed behind charged Magus, who responded in turn. Mickey moved carefully now, knowing he would have to engage in battle and drawing his faithful Darkside in a shimmer of white light. As he watched the exchange and noted the level of skill with which his new "ally" handled his weapons the mouse stayed ready, and soon enough the opponent had chosen him as the next target.
Mickey swung his Darkside in an upwards-angled arc with the teeth of his Keyblade set to intercept the path of the "hammers"(Your post does say both of them are swung down), but when they connected the Mushroom's blow was not knocked away by any degree. Instead it was the King himself who was moved, Majestically now swinging around to the side and up with his weapon's teeth grinding around the lengths of the enemy's weapons in that split second until Mickey was now above the lowered attack with his Keyblade in the ground to their side, still locked into them. As he had swung around the center of his swing had stayed on the enemy's weapons and moved downward as well. Such a position would be quite bad for the tiny warrior if the enemy simply used its strength to move its hammers where the Keyblade was locked, but this experienced warrior didn't intend to give the creature such a chance. After all, no matter how fast it might try to act against Mickey Mouse, it couldn't do so instantaneously... right?
Instantaneously like how the Darkside teleported from the King's right hand to his left, which he had outstretched towards the Mushroom during his short time as a propeller. The King of Disney Castle was a true Keyblade Master and well-versed in utilizing its abilities to their fullest. When the weapon's exchange of places in a flash of light it materialized with its end now already touching the opponent due to their closeness. From the tip of Mickey's Keyblade a ball of white light energy formed and fired at literally as point blank as it could get, hopefully before it could try to actually do anything. After all, we're talking two things at the "speed of light" here.
Speaking of light, the Pearl spell Mickey would try to fire off would move right through the Heartless if could, but slowly, and with every passing moment it would effectively electrocute it into paralysis by pulsing waves of light through the creature's body. Hopefully, while it may be stunned by Pearl, Mickey would immediately perform a full 360-degree twirl in mid-air to lash out a powerful horizontal slash across his enemy. The Keyblade would harm a Heartless more than any other weapon found in the worlds, not to mention it was the only thing capable of actually destroying them for good.
If all went according to plan and the Heartless was knocked away by the strike but not defeated then it would be purposely hurled in Dante's direction by the blow. Pearl would take one of the enemy's turns to finish going through it and it could move until it had done so, which meant the boy would have the chance to deal a critical blow before its effect wore off and the Mushroom could defend itself again.
If all went according to plan...

[OOC: Nope. Reaction commands are just suggestions. In many cases, they let you do things you normally couldn't for the sake of epicness. It's all you descriptionwise.]
Woosh. The miniature king moved quickly, and expertly. Using the mushroom's own weapons to pinwheel himself up and around to strike the mushroom, the Keyblade lashed out against the Heartless successively, casting a bright white globe directly at the Heartless' body.
As it entered the Mushroom's chest, the Heartless froze, not moving any more than a statue would. Mickey lashed out at the Heartless then, sending the Heartless backwards a good few meters or so.
...and then the Heartless began to laugh.
It was a small, inane little laughter. A chuckle that slowly grew as the Heartless... got up.
The paralyzation from the Pearl attack had lasted no longer than a few moments. With bright eyes, almost laughing in agreement with the emotion the Heartless seemed to give off, the Mushroom brought the twin blades up to it's forehead and saluted with one of them.
And with the other, he lashed out with no small amount of speed to where Dante was.
Which'd be right next to it.
[Sorry, no reaction command Dante!]

Woah! Mushrooms in Organization cloaks! That's something that you don't see everyday. Dante watched as Magus and Mickey fought against the small Mushroom, surprised when it charge at him with incredible speed. Dante didn't enjoy the fact that he only had dark natured spells and seeing as how Heartless are made of darkness themselves, it didn't help him feel any better. So, Dante removed the cleaver from his back and brought it down in a great swing to meet with the Mushroom's blade. The blades were in lock for a bit before Dante performed something unusual.
With a fierce twist and backwards movement of his body, he planted his foot on the blade's hilt, his face looking towards the door, and with a great push from his feet, he jolted forward, sending the giant cleaver and the mushroom back towards the opposite wall. When Dante landed, he was holding something in his hands... it was darkness. He then turned around and summoned the two musical measures and conducted with his right hand, aiming to juggle the Mushroom around before raising a pillar from under it. If the Mushroom was harmed by the notes and the pillar and the cleaver, the amount of damage would be good enough for Dante to feel as if he had actually contributed to the fight, but if it healed the Heartless... Well, that would suck.
Don't suppose you need my help any, do you? While it was true that Madam hadn't spoken to him for weeks, giving Dante relief from her nagging, he was faced with yet another nuisance... That helper of her's. He didn't even know this young woman's name, but for some reason, she just kept on returning. Dante didn't know if she was bored or alone, or maybe even scared, but this was getting extremely annoying. Eh, mind leaving for a moment? Right now is not the time for me to be chatting with you, K? Dante could hear the young maiden moan with displeasure, soon fading away into nothingness.
Dante put his attention back to the Mushroom, his hand finished with the conducting. He raised his left hand, sending a pillar form under the Mushroom heartless. Dante turned around wiping back a strand of hair from his right eyes. This was sort of a let down. Although he had barely any abilities to use, he still utilized his attacks in a succesful combo, but that didn't mean that the other Mushrooms were as easy as this one. The other XII would be waiting for the others and would waste all of their energy trying to defeat the three.
[Go, Rocket. I hope that this is good enough.]

Dante's strategy came to naught, sadly... though it could be said that it definetly helped. Knocking the forced blade to the ground as it nearly flew from the Mushroom's blade at it, the Heartless looked up at Dante. And promptly noticed the darkness in his hands. Thoroughly surprised, the Mushroom XIII member quickly dropped the blades and dashed for the wall. Coming to it, as Dante was casting the dark measures that were fast approaching the Mushroom, the Mushroom in question dissappeared through a corridor of darkness. OBJECTIVE COMPLETE. The two forgotten swords flared up in a flash of white light. At one point, they became impossible to see-- right up till the light faded. In their place were two red cards... both emblazened with Mushroom XIII's sword. GET WEAPON CARDS: HEARTLESS DEMEANOR [Posting order is back to normal now, save for me.

Plot respite. The characters have an oppurtunity to talk about everything. (I've been kinda jumping in everytime the characters have tried to talk... ^_^)
I'll jump in at the oppurtune moment.
Now then, weapon cards.
In CoM, red cards were your basic attack cards. Here, they'll be weapons. Pulling a weapon card out will result in it's appearance. These weapons are not prizes. They will not leave Castle Oblivion, and subsequently, this Quest.
Heartless Demeanor- A medium-length blade slightly resembling a Keyblade, save for the lack of the "Key" part. The rods that act the part of blades are a deep grey, while the handguards are a deep red. The weapon is Light, and relatively strong. Can't stand up to a Keyblade for long, though, as it is made from darkness.
You've got two of the buggers. Toss them, give them to two different people, give them to one person, or pocket them for later.
I will suggest, however, holding on to them. There might be something worthwhile in keeping them...]

"Hmph!" Magus grunted, watching as the Heartless fled the scene. His weapons vanished from his hands in faint flashes, then he strode forward and kneeled to pick up one of the strange, flat objects left behind.
Cards...? His frown deepened somewhat. Were these creatures taunting them, treating the three captured travelers like players in a game? The mage disliked such frivolous travesties -- better, he thought, to confront one's adversaries directly than beat around the bush so much. He closed his eyes, trying once again to conjure a Corridor of Darkness... another puff of twilight, another failure. Magus' frown briefly became a snarl of irritation as he stood.
"It would seem those creatures are the masters of this castle, all things considered." He tossed the red card to Mickey. "What do you make of this?"

[If we use the cards as weapons then do they vanish or do can we use them multiple times and not lose them like in CoM?]
Mickey breathed a sight of relief that the Heartless was gone before anyone got hurt. The Darkside Keyblade vanished and he watched Magus close in on the two cards left behind as the King himself approached Dante. A boy relying on the power of darkness... he hoped that it wasn't too close to corrupting the child. The mouse turned towards the fellow Mystic as he was questioned and caught both of the cards in his right white glove. Mickey separated the two and held one in each hand, looking at the identical images.
"Cards are everything here in Castle Oblivion Magus," he explained. "They can be used as weapons, shields, spells and everything else, depending on what memory is placed within them. On the different floors of this place you can change the shape and contents of each into realms based on your heart's memories using cards infused with the thoughts of places you've been. These cards carry the memories of the Mushroom's weapons. Red cards like these are for attacking with."
His Majesty placed both cards back together and held them both up with just his left hand.
"If its Heartless that are causing trouble here then my Keyblade should help us, though it might also attract a lot of attention from them. I'm sorry to put you possibly more danger my new friends. But if either of you hang on to these then they should help give you more power while we're trapped here. Attack cards are usually much more effective in Castle Oblivion than ordinary weapons."
With that Mickey split the two cards so that they were together but facing different angles, then held his hand towards Dante. He could either take one or both, and Magus could request whatever he desired of them. If more were collected the King would also share in their stock, but for now he wanted to give these two whatever help he could.
"I'd say to save them for a tough spot."

The angered teen rubbed his temples, breathing hard. He was angered by the sudden dissapearance of the Mushroom and was also mad at himself for not ridding the three of it before it dissapeared. Dante covered his eyes as the blades flashed brightly, revealing two red cards as the light faded. It wasn't every day when swords turned into cards, but nothing was exactly orderly in this castle. Sighing, the warrior replaced the blade to it proper place, staring at the cards.
Magus had walked over to the two objects on the floor, examining them carefully before throwing them towards Mickey. The mouse caught them both in his right hand, also examining them closely. Cards are everything here in Castle Oblivion Magus," he explained. Red cards like these are for attacking with.
That was new. The last time Dante was here, he hadn't any need for cards. Then again, he was the apprentice of Madam, so that may have also altered the castle's power against him. Then, Mickey walked over to Dante, handing the now curious teen the cards. He took the one on the right and inspected it thoroughly, quietly noting the picture of one of the blades that the mushroom weilded. "Hmm. I really can't say anything that would benefit us by looking at this thing, but if Mickey suggests to hold onto them, I'll do so. Besides, he seems more knowledgeable about this castle than anyone else."

Magus dismissed Mickey's offer of the remaining card with a quick shake of his head. If that was the role that cards played here, then he wanted to avoid using them if at all possible. A place that granted strength and power born from memories... treacherous magic, that. He preferred to rely on his own strength.
"I have no memories of my past." The shadowmage stated suddenly, walking towards the door leading deeper into the castle as he did so. "Not before awakening in the darkness and wandering the worlds. Even so, the memories I have of that are not very strong ones. This place should hold little power over me."
The doors were locked tight, just like the entrance. He grunted in frustration and kicked the doors hard, but to no avail. "Hmph! Seems we're trapped in this room, the playthings of those Heartless. Still, there has to be a way out." He turned to Mickey. "What would you suggest?"

As Magus refused the remaining card with a shake of his head the King simply nodded and handed the remaining one to Dante as well. The boy seemed trustworthy. After Magus' confession to amnesia and asking for a suggestion the mouse looked down with one hand to his chin and the other supporting its elbow, the classic thinking pose.
"I wonder if that's the reason," the said softly, barely audible to the others. His majesty looked up again after that and opened up his arms again in explanation. "Those thirteen Mushroom Heartless didn't seem to like you being here, Magus. Could it be because you lack your memories? Perhaps this place won't hold any power over you."
Well for now there was no way to know for sure. Castle Oblivion had a way of tapping into memories you didn't even realize you had anymore, after all.

[Doing nicely guys! This is where I'd post the next bit...
Bilby: Weapon cards won't be one use. If I did that, I'd practically be remaking CoM! No, it's a weapon like the ones you hold, except these are based off memories. Hence the card form when not in use.
This means that, under normal conditions, your weapons won't be cards.
Posting Order no longer in effect. After you enter the doors, wait for my post. Don't say you see something or anything!]Vwrrrrrrt...Suddenly, black circles showed themselves from under the three visitors. In a flash of black, three of the Mushrooms charged up and through the opposers' bodies. In the same moment, a large clang was heard from the door opposite the entrance. As the Mushrooms flipped midair towards each other, they breifly... high... fived... each other? ...well, okay then. And then the three Heartless fell down and through the ground. The whole ordeal lasted no more than a moment. Immediately following, Member XIII appeared before the door to the rest of Castle Oblivion, facing the company. It held up a blue card, high above it's head. Magus might've seen it, given he was pretty close to the front door, but who knows about Dante and the King? If Magus did, in fact, see the card... he would've seen a small island depicted on it, surrounded by a great sea. After holding the card up high, the creature motioned pointedly at the door with it. Card + Door = ? It walked up to it, held the card up to the front of it, and paused. In a quick flash of light, not unlike the one used when the twin swords became cards, and the door made a large creaking noise. Card + Door = Open Door? Light seeped from every crack around the doorway as the royal white passageway became clear- the doors forced themselves open. All that could be seen of where the doors led was a bright light... that came from no particular direction, save the doorway. Continuing with the journey was now possible. The small Heartless than ran ran ran away through a corridor of darkness.
- Reach the top floor of Castle Oblivion.
- Discover what Mushroom XIII is up to.

Dante took the second card from the mouse's hand, looking at the two cards and then setting them into his pocket. At that moment of card pocketing, a black portal opened up beneath the pocketing teen, a Mushroom appearing from below him. It dashed from the ground and up through his body, flipping when it got all the way through. It and the other two Mushrooms high fived each other as they met in the air and melted back into the white floors, their little friend appearing right after. It was holding a card, one with the a familiar sketch of a world Dante was fond of.
Then it began to use the card, pointing to the card and then to the door, soon demonstrating the use of it by opening the door. The doors opened slowly, sending a familiar light toward the three. When it all had calmed down, the Mushroom had fled through the threshold, seeming to embrace what was through that angelic postern. Dante sighed, walking forward without speaking with the other two about the next form of action. He turned, facing Magus and Mickey with enthusiasm spread across his face.
"Come on. Lets get this thing over with as quickly as possible." Dante turned back towards the door, muttering,"I've got a model car waiting for me at home." With that, the warrior walked through the doors, awaiting the arrival of his fellow mates.

Mickey understood quite well what the Mushrooms had done to the trio. It looked like the one from before was going through some kind of demonstration for their sake though. Before he could say anything Dante was off to the Castle's first floor.
"The Heartless have sampled our memories and crafted World Cards from them," the King explained to Magus. "Those are the only things which can open the floors to let us proceed further inside."
'But they are just leading us on. Was it the Mushrooms that brought us all here in the first place? But then why do they not like one of us?'
Although it may have been playing into their hands His Majesty understood that they had to move forward and face a trial before they could overcome it. He walked closer to the Nobody and nodded in a friendly manner before proceeding into the light after Dante. He didn't want to let the kid be alone for too long.
