[The following is a CLOSED quest. Members of this quest include:
Nascent (as Magus) Dante (as Dante) Heroic Bilby (as King Mickey)
Other people may pop in with my permission, but don't expect the full thing like the above three will get. Check out the Sign up sheet for the Quest for details.
And as a reminder: You have three days to post your turn. After that, I'll PM you and give you a warning. Two days later, if I haven't heard back at least, the next person On Deck will be moved in.
You guys set the posting order. It'll be me, person after, and so on until we get back to me.
Now how about we get this thing underway, eh?]Among the vast grassy plains that fill and inhabit this world are paths. These intertwined routes run about the world with no apparent focus, no end goal.
One way in, no way out. Unless you'd like to go up?
However, one path goes around the entirety of these plains. Circling the miniature globe, this road leads to a dark and foreboding castle. Here, the everlasting day is night and safety isn't assured.
Here, the eternally imposing figure of Castle Oblivion stands tall.
Here, past memories pave the path for memories not yet made.
Here, you might find three strange portals floating a good ten or so feet in the air, right before the double doors the allow access to the castle's main hall, doing absolutely nothing save for sitting around--- wait, never mind...
The far left platform has just dropped someone very unceremoniously into this world.
...and now the middle. Further still, the right portal has followed suit!
There now stands and sits three men before Castle Oblivion's doors. [SCENARIO: You've just been plopped into Castle Oblivion's world, even if you'd been doing something before (hypothetically).
- Get to know each other, if you haven't previously.
- Investigate.
- Go on a killing rampage Whatever comes to mind. Get creative with this one!
You're up!]

(OOC: I'll go with option 2.)
As he slowly opened his eyes Magus realized that, for the second time in recent memory, he was waking up somewhere he'd never been before with no idea how he'd gotten there.
It was NOT a welcome feeling.
The mage slowly rose up, having been face-down in what seemed an endless sea of grass, and looked around him. Endless fields with strange, wandering paths cut into them dominated the landscape... yet nearby something rose above the horizon. Something shrouded in a strange looming darkness...
A fortress? Magus quickly got to his feet, gazing intently at the distant construct towering before him. It seemed to jut out in all directions, more like a spiked weapon than a fortified bastion. With no clue where he was and such an anomaly present right before his eyes, it would be prudent to investigate... cautiously.
Summoning his prophet's cloak, the shadowmage draped it around his figure and donned the garment's shadowy hood before approaching the doors, only briefly taking note of the other two individuals nearby.
"What twisted fate awaits me this time, I wonder?"

Mickey's search for the two missing Key Bearers hadn't yet yielded results, but this was one twist he had not been expecting. In all his travels His Majesty had visited this particular world only once, to save a dear friend. Now it seemed he had been brought back again. Was it for the same reason, or had a different destiny summoned the chosen Keyblade of the Realm of Darkness?
Mickey landed on his feet right in front of the double doors that led into the castle. He immediately turned around to see where he was and let the recognition set in before glancing at either of his sudden would-be comrades. One of them donned a cloak and, without a word, went right for the doors in front of them.
"Wait!" the mouse said with the urgency of someone who understood the danger they warned of. "Do you know where you are?"
The question was twofold, but neither reason for it was because the King himself needed to know where he was. rather he wanted to know if this man intended to be here, which he did not, or if they were alike in coming without intention. The other was to warn him of the possible dangers beyond those doors.

Dante had been dropped into this world again. It was funny how every time he was doing something of major importance that he was dropped into this place. Madam hadn't been speaking to him lately, no matter what he tried to do. Was she scared of him for once? Was she really in that manor, but hiding? What ever the reason, Dante knew that this place was bad. Very, very bad.
He had seen two others; a mouse and a robed figure. They had been dropped off in the world of Castle Oblivion, just like himself. What were their reasons for being here? Were they lost and walking towards oblivion? It didn't much matter. Whatever they were doing, it must be important to them. "Hey. You guys know any reason why we're here?"

Magus slowly shook his head in response to the young man's question, though it also served to answer the query of the odd mouse-like creature next to him. "I know not what awaits inside, only that no good can ever be found in hiding from the unknown."
He laid his hand upon the door and there paused. "I would venture that none of us came here on purpose -- wherever 'here' is. I have not been long about the worlds, and yet my experience tells me that they act as they see fit. The faintest alignment of stars may be cause enough for fate to meddle in the affairs of unusual individuals. I know I am one such."
He turned towards the mouse, casting a look over his shoulder at the young man. "I strongly doubt any of us have met before -- though without my memories I cannot say with certainty. I am the shadowmage Magus, prophet of the Black Wind. And you are?"

Dante stood up from the dirt and scratched behind his ear before answering to Magus. "I'm Dante, Ex-Apprentice of Darkness. Glad to meet you." Dante looked at the mouse that was standing beside the two and asked him a question. "So, what's you're name? I don't think I've seen you before." Dante reached for his claymore and felt relief, knowing that he hadn't lost it yet.
He had been building a model car before being sent here, finishing the engine (one of the more tedious tasks). He was applying glue to part thirteen, but was then telepored here, which worried him about where the glue had landed and if the pieces were screwed. "I remember this place... It's called Castle Oblivion. I've been here plenty of times before."

[I've been told by Rocket that we can RP together as we please up until we actually try to enter the castle. Then we have to wait]
"I'm Mickey Mouse. Pleased to meet both of you," the King said with a friendly squeak in his voice. "I've been to this castle before as well. Its not quite as dangerous as it once was, but there's no telling if the reason we're here is because some new evil force has taken over its power."
The smallest of the three turned towards the fields behind them and took a step. What he lacked in height the mouse made up for in presence. "Inside Castle Oblivion your heart's deepest memories can be made real. But they can also be distorted." With that the tiny ruler turned back towards the other two and smiled cheerfully.
"So if we're going to get to the bottom of this, we'd better all stick together! OK?"
Mickey raised one open gloved hand to Magus and Dante each, waiting for acceptance(Though they might have to bend over to do so). The friendliness he showed in his eyes certainly seemed genuine enough, despite their impromptu gathering.

[Oh Bilby... I'm afraid I've changed my mind. I just couldn't resist the cue you gave me. Posting order starts now, and hasn't been set in stone yet. Whatever order you guys go by now will be it.]
BA-CRRNNNNNNNKT...
Very suddenly, and very loudly, a large noise erupted from inside the castle, proceeding to shake the very foundations of the castle and land surrounding it. The sound was painful-- very much like metal bashing and gnashing against each other with no small amount of haste and fervor. And the shaking it produced... it wasn't unlike an earthquake, save for the lack of ground falling through ground. No falling mounds of earth here.
The earthquake continued on for no more than a full minute. During this time, the noise and earthquake continued to grow in power, all leading up to one final climax--
When all the lights in Castle Oblivion went out.
As if on cue, all tremors and shaking stopped.
The platform serving as the entrance to the castle was now steeped in a pitch black darkness, with only the light from the stars to aid the three travellers.
...and then, after a small and agonizing wait, a dull white, faded glow began to emit from behind the doors Magus' hands had been on.
This glow remained.

(OOC: Sorry about the delay -- yesterday was a monster of a day, so I didn't get the chance to get online.) You should leave here.
Now. The now-familiar voice echoed through Magus' mind as the violent tremors stopped and darkness swept throughout the castle. He'd braced himself against the only thing there was nearby, the castle's doors, leaning against them for support. In so doing, the left door now stood open about six inches -- not enough to actually see inside, but enough that when everything stopped and the glow emerged it was beaming right in Magus' face through the opening. He stepped back, looking at Mickey. "It seems that whatever 'evil force' is inside has begun to act." He turned towards Dante. "Since the two of you are familiar with this place I will follow your lead, and lend you my powers as is necessary. Whatever is going on, I hope it --" He was stopped mid sentence as something brushed past his feet; he looked down and was able to catch a glimpse of the creature before it scurried into the castle. A small cat... a small purple cat! " What?!" The mage exclaimed. No... could it be the same creature he'd seen briefly upon first awakening?? Some part of him felt overwhelmingly that, indeed, it was. Without further hesitation he pushed open the castle doors and stepped inside. (OOC: Rocket, I'm giving you control of the cat -- or, should I say, the Aspect Fragment of Memory in the likeness of Alfador. 'Tis only fitting, what with this being Castle Oblivion and all. The little fuzzy doesn't talk, he just runs around, acts cute and leads Magus deeper into his memories. Let me know if you need more info, kay?)

For Mickey and his large ears the noise was the worst of all. He held both large circles down flat over his head with both hands for nearly the full minute, eyes closed most of the time save for the occasional glance to make sure everything was all right. He had the feeling they should move away from the castle when it was making such a noise, but for some reason was glued to his place for the entire duration of the clatter. Finally it ended and the King cautiously let his ears spring back up into their places.
Mickey nodded at Magus' words. The noise and lack of lights didn't mean anything truly evil was afoot, but it was better to be safe than sorry. The ruler wanted to ask Dante about his experiences here before they proceeded, but suddenly Magus went back on his word without any warning and rushed inside.
(Are we supposed to be able to see the cat?)
His Majesty squeaked a quick "Magus!" but it was to no avail. he quickly glanced over at Dante with a serious expression and nodded his head in a way to indicate that they must hurry after him, but also be careful. Mickey would wait for an affirmation from the boy, then go through the large doors with him, side-by side.
If he was willing to come, of course.

The tremors began and Dante fell to the ground, landing on his knee. He stabbed his cleaver into the ground with a quick thrust and held on to it tightly, his body pressing against the blunt of the blade. the earthquake lasted for about a minute and he finally exhaled the held air. What was that right now? Was the castle, itself, alive in some way? Did it want one of the three in so badly that it couldn't contain its excitement? Whatever the cause, it was now over and Dante stood up, brushing off his pants.
He watched as the glow shone on the ground, giving Dante one of the weridest feelings. He listened to Magus's small speech and watched as he quickly ran through the castle's threshold. Dante glanced over at Mickey and nodded, giving a half smile to make himself feel better about what might lie in his memories. This wouldn't be good at all, especially if those memories were released. Dante replaced his cleaver and began to walk forward, waiting for Mickey to follow.
As he began to proceed, the thoughts of what might happen to him were clouding his mind. Would she be revealed in his memories? Would her entire manor be towering over him like it did before? Would she still call him her Apprentice? This made Dante want to punch the castle, maybe even burn it, but if he couldn't do anything to the castle when he had more strength, then he wouldn't be able to do anything now.

[Posting order is set.
Rocket Nascent Bilby Dante]As the three walked through the doors, (or in Magus' case, ran,) the glow that kept the room from steeping into darkness dimmed, allowing a more pleasant view of the castle's entrance hall. A musty white pallor made up the room: save for the newcomers, every last object in the room was starch white. The room had an elegance to it; a great, grand feeling. The imposing pillars, ensnared by etched vines, and a great white marble floor naturally drew any wandering eyes to the direct front and focus of the hall: The blue/white doors, emense and immeasurable in size and grandeur, stood atop a small staircase (numbering no more than six or seven steps) that led to a regal podium of sorts. Beyond the three weary travelers, the room was empty. Magus' rush earned him nothing but the sight of an empty room. ...or so he might've thought. As the last of the group entered, the entrance doorway shut of it's own volition... and let loose a loud clang. The door was well and truly locked.

(OOC: I'll leave it in Rocket's hands when/if the cat is visible and to whom. It does tend to come and go like a ghost, so what we've got thusfar works fine.)
Magus gave a low, throaty grunt of irritation. So much for caution... without a thought he'd acted on impulse and chased the cat -- or phantom, whatever the case may be -- right into what now seemed clearly like a trap. In that moment he felt like an utter and complete fool. He turned back towards his companions, noting the confused and uncertain looks they were giving him.
"Forgive me... I thought the cat might have been --"
As soon as he mentioned the cat, he could read the continued looks of confusion in their eyes like an open book. They had no idea what he was talking about. Magus brow furrowed in agitation and he buried his face in the palm of his hand. He must seem an imbecile to them! "Phantoms already... seems I've underestimated this place."
In an effort to redeem himself, Magus strode over to the doors and attempted to force them open. All his strength yielded naught. When that failed he attempted to conjure a corridor into the darkness; all that emerged was a brief puff of darkness. Something was blocking and possible exit... which meant someone wanted them to stay. The mage sighed out loud. "I've put us all in peril now."

"It's OK Magus. Memories and ghosts from the heart can lead anyone astray, even the most steadfast," Mickey reassured him. They had already been brought to the front door against their will anyway. it didn't worry the King too much more that they were now stuck inside the castle against their will. It seemed the most obvious continuation of their situation, at least. His heart still told him that they were meant to move ahead, but together. Either way, Mickey's words were certainly uplifting to anyone who had a heart to feel that way. "Let's all promise to let each other know if we see anything else that we're not sure is real," the King ended with a smile and a nod.
With that he put the matter of Magus' fault in creating their new predicament away and turned to Dante, curious.
"Would you tell me," he asked politely. "What has brought a young one like you to a dangerous place like this so many times in the past?" His Majesty recalled the boy saying he had come to this castle many times yet. Even Mickey himself had come here only the one time it had been necessary. Getting to know his new companions, and possibly their memories, would surely help them overcome whatever trial lay ahead.

Dante took a step back as the doors shut and locked. There was no possible way to get out now. Even when Magus tried opening a Corridor of Darkness, the portal just poofed away. Dante sighed quite loudly with a slight growl at the end, slipping his hands into his pockets. He looked up and replayed in his mind what had happened the last time he was here. It was a bittersweet experience which turned sour quickly.
"It seems that whatever has brought us here is making sure that we stay here... Stupid Castle." Then he heard Mickey ask the question. His breaths stopped for a minute as his past flashed before his eyes... and then he turned his head away. He was trembling at the sight of it all, not wanting to share anything about his past to keep himself safe, but he knew that the Castle would take his memories and use them against him anyways, so what was the point. He took in a deep breath and looked over at Mickey with his casual facial features.
"Well... It started when I was sixteen... I was studying for an important test when a storm had begun outside. Me being young, I opened my windows and saw an orb... hovering over the islands where the kids would go and play, not to say that I didn't go there either. Anyways... I was sucked up by the orb after attempting to close my windows and woke up in a brillantly white room. I was met with some sort of person that said she worked for a woman named 'Madam'," Dante looked down and at his right hand. He had kept it ungloved to work on that model, so the symbols were showing, this time the signature Nobody emblem.
"Then Madam came in and told me what had happened to me. I was weak... so I succumbed to the darkness and became her Apprentice. I had been sent on missions by Madam and she sent me on one that required me to check out this place. She had been feeling a strong power ever since it was built, but then it vanished. I was still young, seventeen, and I was so angry at Madam. I hated her. I had been feeling her presence upon entering and knew she was watching me. Dante grabbed his right hand and rubbed it, sighing.
"Then... a door appeared in front of me. I checked it out and to my surprise, I found Destiny Islands! I was so happy to see the island again and to see my friends, but they... they didn't recognize me and they went away. I walked along the shore and to the tree, but was then confronted by a huge heartless with a giant heart-shaped hole in its chest. At that time, I was too angry to give a damn about how big it was and how it towered over me, I just wanted it dead, so I killed it. I was transported back here and that's my first experience of Castle Oblivion. Now, I've returned to this Castle to rest on Destiny Islands, using my vague memories, knowing that no one at home remembered mem or anyone on Destiny Islands for that matter... Now I'm here with you guys."
Dante walked over to the wall and sat down, keeping in the anger, the self pity, the sorrow and all of the pain inside of himself. What else could happen now? Heartless? Nobodies?
