Having heard his Darkside stop hitting things Mickey summoned it back into his hand so it wouldn't just be lying somewhere uselessly.
"No matter what's out there we'll be OK," Mickey answered Dante softly and reassuringly as he followed right behind Molly and Rich.

As the group ran out of the cavern, three things were immediately noticeable. First: sunset was fast approaching. The orange sun was blazing in the far off sea, casting a faded aura about the sky. Second: The things that were in the tunnel were Darkballs. Third: They weren't alone. "Holy..." Rich breathed. "Nngeh...!" Molly stiffened. The three Darkballs, properly surprised and definitely sore, had quickly flown into the air. Staying a cautious distance from the group, the three swirled around in the air, biding their time. Ptew, ptew. Seeds fell from above the group, aiming for the two weakest among them (the McCunes). Looking up, our heroes would notice three Creeper Plants in the rock. Ptew. ...and more, hidden in the foliage! At least two more Creeper Plants were hiding out in the trees. But then the big worry. Twelve Shadows littered the ground in front of Mickey, Dante, Rich, and Molly. Not one of them wasn't looking at the group. Charge.Molly Hysteria +3

Ptew, ptew... Twack! Twack!
Mickey wasn't the rear guard for nothing. When his sensitive mouse ears heard the firing from above he leaped up and forward, turning in the air to put himself between the McCunes and whatever was above. more plant Heartless. He knocked both seed shots off to the sides with his Keyblade with ease. Landing again he heard move rustling to the sides before another shot was fired. Mickey cartwheeled immediately in a crescent path to get in the way of the blow and took it in his gut, landing the King on his behind. His Royal Guard defence ability was fairly tough though, so it wasn't too bad.
Mickey needed to think fast. How much magic did he have left for full-power Pearls? ... seven . He could manage seven more before he had to rest again. Pearl was one of the most powerful forms of offensive light magic one could learn, tracking down a target and pulsing wave after wave of light right through every part of their body. For Heartless it was almost a sure-kill unless they were especially large.
'I'll trust Dante,' His Majesty thought in that split-second, knowing that the boy's heart was in the right place for this fight. 'And rely on the strength of his heart.'
The Darkside pointed straight up at that moment when Mickey hoped back to his feet, held by both of the ruler's hands. Its key-shaped tip flashed bright white and a total of 6 head-sized orbs emerged from it, flying away in multiple directions. Two flew upward at the rock wall to hunt the Creeper Plants there. Two other pairs flew off to either side of the small group into the foliage and tree. Even if Mickey couldn't see the Heartless hiding there his Pearls could track them down. He didn't know how many there were though so he fired everything he had except one to save for an emergency. If one or more that flew off didn't have any target to find in that particular direction then the pearl(s) would simply turn until they did, likely coming down into the group of Shadows.
"Dante! I need a lift!" the King said immediately after, holding his free left hand up to the boy.

Dante simply stared in complete terror at the immense group of Heartless. He had done something wrong and now he was going to pay with his friends' lives. He was angry at himself, but more than that, he was angry at the Mushrooms for creating this place. Destiny Islands was his weakness and now, thanks to his friends being here, he was even more vulnerable to the Mushrooms. When he saw the pearls in the sky, he knew right away that Mickey had a plan. It was usually the mouse that had the plans, anyways.
Then, he heard the squeaky voice, seeing a hand stretched out towards himself. The teen grasped the mouse warrior's hand and started spinning around for momentum before releasing the Mouse in a spinning flurry. Hopefully, this was what he wanted, because right now, he was more occupied on protecting the McCunes. "Rich... Take the back. We'll need to protect Molly. You're her brother and you're supposed to be her role model and now is as best of a time as ever to be that."
The warrior got in front of Molly, brandishing his fists for a fight. It was up to Rich if he was going to finally be a big brother and not the scared child. That was Molly's job.

Rich gave a small Pfft. "I say we give Molls my bat and let her take care of 'em. She pr'bly could..." Molly promptly whacked him up side the head with her fist. "OW! What was that for?" "Meaniebutt." Molly Hysteria -1 [There's not much I can say/do until I see what it is Mickey's up to. After Bilby posts, I'll report on the Heartless' actions.]

DUAL TECH: Majestic Starling
Using his strength and speed x 10 acquired by the Dark Starling ability Dante took Mickey by one hand and then spun around in place with all his strength before whipping the King into the air at a ferocious velocity.
The King in turn was now spinning like a top/buzz saw with his Keyblade out, but didn't just move in a straight line. With the power of his Majesty ability Mickey causes his ultra high-speed spin to move up, down and side to side in a frantic pattern in the air even as it continued to fly in the direction of the Darkballs in order to land a blow against any enemy. Once he could initiate contact just once Mickey could then use the force of that blow with Majesty and Dante's added strength to once more shoot off towards another nearby enemy in a rapidly changing but accurate patten to slam the top into them.
Unless brought to a stop this process would repeat itself over and over in the air until there were no more aerial targets(ie. Darkballs) for Mickey to slam into and his spinning ended.
And by that time Mickey's six Pearls would have had ample chance to hunt down their many rooted targets. Hopefully it had been worth consuming the bulk of his magical energy for.

Mickey's attack threw him far up into the setting sky, chasing after the far off Darkballs. Each blow brought the balls down, but given that they had started to turn tail upon seeing the Pearls, the Darkballs had quite a head start. Mickey, having vanquished the Darkballs, found himself on the other side of the island, in the shadow of Sora, Riku, and Kairi's favorite tree. Back towards the islanders, things were getting intense. The ten Shadows were now upon Dante, Rich, and Molly. Two of the Shadows had been blasted by the Pearls without targets, given how close range they were. Two shadows leaped into the air towards them. Another two fled to the shadows and bided their time. The remainder kept close, making sure that anyone who tried to escape would be forced back. The sole remaining plant Heartless up above, the others having been blasted by Mickey's two pearls sent that way, let loose another shot of seeds, aiming for the islanders. __Heartless Remaining__ 10 Shadows 1 Creeper Plant

Heartless were everywhere, two jumping to Dante and the other two memories. The sounds of shooting seeds could be heard overhead, aiming for the three. Only one thing could protect the islanders and that was his shield. It would protect the three from the hit of the seeds, reflecting them back to the Creeper Plant since it was a projectile. Rich would have to take care of the Shadows for now. It was the only way to go about this.
He remembered the cards he had obtained from the Mushroom, reaching for them and summoning the two weapons. He got in front of the other two and summoned Nightmare Shield, looking over at Rich and Molly. "I can't place the barrier around all of us, only me, so, Rich, you'll have to bear with me for a while and defend against the two jumping heartless. Go!"

[ So much for lowering her hysteria by taking out a big chunk of the Heartless present. XD Mickey can't compete with brotherly taunts. ]
Well that went well enough. The King landed down on a small risen rock area connected to the main island by a bridge. He'd have to get back to the main fight quickly, but at least the most powerful Heartless had been taken out. He wouldn't want those things interrupting them while trying to fight the Shadows. His Majesty turned and saw one Creeper Plant also remained... but so did 2 of his Pearls, still flying around. They'd find a target eventually. Strange that one of the two he'd fired up at the wall had missed its Creeper Plant, but there was no time to worry about that. Only time for action.
Mickey leaped many feet into the air and landed atop a tree. From there he crouched and pushed off with all his might again, flying a high arc into the air. AT the top of his arc the Keyblade Master let rip his Darkside and sent it flying in an upward arc of its own, spinning dangerously toward the rock wall the last creeper Plant was on. Even with all that hieght, though, the distance was still a bit too great for perfect aim. The Keyblade slammed into the wall a few feet down and slightly to the right of the Heartless, then began to fall down towards the waterfall pool. Right after it hit the wall, however, its tip flashed white and as it fell a large orb of white magical light sprung out, rising upward and veering to the side to slam into the supposedly missed target. The King had used his Keyblade as a remote firing point for his very last full-power Pearl.
He hoped it was well-spent.
Landing down on the beach across from the Shadows Mickey recalled his Keyblade to his hand before it would hit the water beyond and made a dash in to rejoin the fray as quickly as possible. Two Shadows jumping in at once seemed like a bit much to expect a novice like Rich to handle. Maybe if Dante saw the King's attack on the last Creeper Plant he'd be able to get over in time to help...

Also, I think I had the remaining two Pearls get rid of Shadows. Without a specific direction for them, I just figured they were headed for the nearest things... sorry!]Rich gritted his teeth and gripped the baseball bat hard as the leaping Heartless came up on them. Molly jumped back, almost ready to flee back into the hole. Mickey's handling (and by that, I mean destruction) of nearly half the Heartless calmed her down a fair amount, though, which kept her from reacting completely irrationally. Rich brought the bat up hard under one of the Shadows, sending it spiraling to the back of the group of Heartless. It didn't hurt a lot, but it worked for getting the guy out of the way. The other Shadow landed where Molly had been before she moved. Rich kicked it back, following that with a sideways knock with the bat. That Heartless was shoved into the brush. The Creeper Plant was very shocked by the returning blasts. While that did a bit in the way of bringing it down, Mickey's Pearl did the job very well. And by that, I mean it did the job. The second Heartless that was forced into the bushes started once again for a jump. Two Shadows from the main group followed suit, bunching up and firing themselves into the air towards the group. None of them noticed or remembered the mouse that had gone flying overhead. Heartless Remaining 10 Shadows, 2 mildly bruised

[ Oh I thought I'd edited out everything about the 2 Pearls from my post. Sorry about that. ]
Mickey kept running but now pointed his Darkside forward. Since he wouldn't rejoin the fray for melee combat in time he instead made use of his lingering magical power to fire off a steady stream off low-power Pearls. These wouldn't be tough enough to kill these extra-tough Shadows in one hit, but they'd still be a fair blow to stun or interrupt them. He waved the Keyblade left and right so that the stream came upon the beach in waves of small white orbs where the Shadows were gathered. A bit more running and he'd be close enough to start pulling those fancy moves again.
"All right Dante!" he yelled out confidently. "You hit 'em high, I'll hit 'em low!"

"Sounds like you've got a plan, Mickey!" With the shield gone and the two others safe from a sandwhich attack, the teen tightened his grip on both of his blades and did a swirling attack. Thanks to the tenfold in damage and the weapons, this attack would possibly destroy anything it hit. Dante followed up with shadow pillar as he came down from his twister. This was aimed for a few on the ground, knowing that Mickey wouldn't be able to take them all at once. This would bring the number down by a fair amount, leaving way for the mouse warrior to meet back up.
"Rich. Keep Molly safe from any sneak attacks. I know you can do it, especially after you took care of those two Heartless." The Ex-Apprentice smirked, his eyes roaring with the power of darkness and the determination of a hero. Although hero may be a word Dante wasn't used to, it was describing the way he had been acting the past few months. If Richard and Molly were two different people, it wouldn't have really mattered to Dante wether they had been killed. Well, now it was all up to the accuracy of both of the warrior's attacks to determine the fate of these creatures.

Mickey's lightweight Pearls panned in like a force of nature, swamping the Shadows. Many were knocked around the path (and two right into the waterfall area). Five Heartless remained stunned in the main path. Dante's whirling attack brought two of the jumping Shadows down right away. (As in poof.) The third though, was one that'd been to the side in the bushes. That one continued it's jump. Dante's pillar bashed two of the stunned Heartless into the air. As they landed, one of them vanished. The other landed in the small waterfall area with the two other Shadows that were learning real fast how to swim. Rich nodded grimly at Dante. He turned to Molly. "Molls, you got the-- Molly!" Molly wasn't in a position to speak. An arm was wrapped around her mouth, while another was holding her by the waist... pulling her back into the Secret Place. The shade under the trees, not to mention the fast approaching night time, made it impossible to see her the perpetrator was. Molly was doing a fair amount of shaking around though. Molly Hysteria + 3 Rich promptly went to dive into the hole when the Shadow he'd bashed earlier came down on his back. Rich was knocked aside into the pool. In the process, the bat was knocked out of his hands. The three Heartless in the pool immediately darted for Rich. "H-hey! Dante! Help!" Splashing around fervently in a sad attempt to keep the Heartless away, Rich started backing up to the wall. Not good. Heartless Remaining 7 Shadows (Three in pool, moderately damaged; 4 in the path, 3 of them stunned and slightly damaged, 1 running around near the Secret Place entrance.)

"Huh!? Molly! Richard!" Both of his memories had been attacked and spread out, Molly being dragged into the Secret Place. Damn it! He had to think up a plan quickly, or else the two wouldn't live. "Mickey! Go save Molly! She's in the Secret Place!" The warrior twirled his two blades, although he really didn't need them since his DS had finally worn off. Now, the real Dante was back and being hit wasn't an extremely bad thing anymore.
The weapons turned into cards as his cleaver reappeared in his righth and, the Ex-Apprentice giving a stern glare towards the Shadows. "I can take it from here easily, now. Get going!" That was when Dante lunged forward at the three stunned Heartless, hoping to take them down first. Being close enough, the warrior activated Pulse Aura, which would push back the Heartless on Richard and any that were near him. He wasn't going to let these memories die, even if they weren't exactly real.

"Oh no! You got it!"
Dante had already covered the Shadows around Richard so Mickey threw his Darkside hard. It spun like a boomerang and whirled around the larger group of Shadows in a circular pattern to whack as many of them as possible, while also releasing shots of Pearl out of it as it spun horizontally to maximize the attack area and possibly stun a few more that it couldn't hit. While it was doing so Mickey had performed another somersaulting jump to clear the distance between him and the entrance to the cave. As he came down form the jump his Keyblade flashed back into his hand and he came down right on top of the one that had been wandering around near the entrance. Whether it dodged his downward slash or not Mickey would leave it at that and rush into the Secret Spot.
"I'm coming Molly!" the King called out bravely. Whoever abducted her was probably already preparing a nasty surprise for him so it didn't really seem to matter if he announced his intent to follow or not.
